San Francisco Peephole Installation

Locksmith was very nice and came to install a peephole in my door. The peephole chosen was a good peephole with a nice wide viewpoint. The contractor came to install and my door split upon install. The installer scheduled additional time to come back and fix the look of the door split and to smooth it out and paint over the issue. I appreciated that he didn't leave me with the door like that and took the time to get all the components that he needed to complete my door. The peephole is now completed.

I spec'd a replacement door at Lowe's and told Mark which model I wanted. He picked it up, brought it to the house and carefully removed the old door (framing and all). He then installed the new pre-hung door and reinstalled the existing lock set. He cleaned up everything and hauled away the old door. Mark came back few days later to install a peephole. Mark did an excellent job at a very reasonable price.

We have a not so wonderful experience and that's why I have been pulling out. The job cost us around $1800; but because of the problem we encountered, they knocked off $200. There is one person especially out there; he is a very nice man. When the owner/installer Pat installed the door, we noticed that the peephole was a different finish than the door hardware. Several days later Pat left the correct finished peephole on our doorstep for us to install. We were unable to do so because the diameter was larger than the original. We called the office, and they said Pat would return to install it. When he drilled the front of the door, it did not match the inside hole. He then tried to shove it through by slamming the peephole with his hand, thereby splintering around the peephole around the door. He said he'd bring a temporary door and would repair our new door. We waited at least one week with no calls from there. We went to the office and met with Jon. We explained the situation. Then we asked if they could caulk around the new door and paint the surrounding walls after they installed the new doors. He said yes, and we then told him nothing have been done by the company. My husband actually did the caulking, which was not good. We decided for all the aggravation and disappointment, we would accept the mar door as it is for discount. Jon agreed and he himself came out. He replaced the peephole, caulked, and painted beautifully. Now, since that time I noticed that there is a mar around the inside of the door and around the peephole too. Pat said he would give a temporary door, and refinish the whole door, then return it to us. My husband was concerned that it would never look right. If they have to get door to make this splintered area smooth, we are going to lose around the wood around the peephole, so the whole thing didn't set right with us. We didn't pay for the mar door; but in the long run, my husband and I talked about it, and decided we just keep what we have for this discount. I think that probably summer started, and Pat should have given us a new door. I think they should have tried that. They said they would do that; but I know it would never look right. I don't care what they said, but my husband was very concerned about it. We being seniors, it is a lot of money that we spent. When Jon came over, he did a wonderful job. Jon is a big benefit to the company. He provides good customer service. He is very good. My husband was there when the Pat slammed the door. I tried telling them that I got them off Angie's list, so that they do the work properly. I liked the door. The price was good. They didn't respond promptly, and that's why we had to go in to talk to them because he ruined that, we did not talk to them for week. They were on time. Jon was excellent.

Mark said he would show up at 9AM and right on the dot, he was there. He came in and reviewed the various projects we wanted to get done, and committed to getting a few things done in a half day's work. He came in, did his thing, got all the materials he needed, and was done within 4 hours. He's realiable and the work was great. He saved me time from doing these projects myself, plus he gave me some ideas to handle some other projects I was considering. I'm definitely going to use Mark again when I need him.

Chris listened with care and understood my concerns. He saw what needed to be done and was able to offer pertinent suggestions and options. He and his crew were punctual,respectful, and conscientious. Communication was excellent: easy to approach with questions and additional requests. Chris kept me apprised of progress and scheduling. He dealt with difficult tenants and city inspectors for me. His equanimity kept me calm and confident during what I had anticipated to be a difficult period. A year later, his work still looks good! I recommend him without reservation!

He paid a lot of attention to great detail. He doesn't get things done very quickly, but he gets them done right. He does a great job at keeping the lines of communication open and explains everything to me. He kept me updated on everything. He would go to the hardware store and then price match the parts for me online. He would go the extra step to make sure I was getting the best price, but not charging for labor while doing so. I felt very comfortable with everything that he was doing. He is a very nice, honest man and is really easy to work. I really liked working with him and I will hire him again.

Very professional and job well done. Chon went and bought the necessary n appropriate strips. He took the door down. He removed all peeling stripping from another contractor who did it only six months ago! Chon scrap cleaned the door tracks n completed the stripping around and underneath the front double door. He used clear silicon to cover all previous drill holes. The door is beautifully done. There is no more light or air coming through the front door and the stripping is no longer visible. I highly recommend Chon for the weather stripping of front doors.

Rob arrived on time with the replacement door (wood). He was experiencing some difficulty removing one of the hinge pins on the old door. After applying a liquid remedy he was able to overcome the problem. Rob removed the key lock and door handles before taking the door off its hinges. Rob measured the door frame again, using them he cut and shaved the replacement door. After placing the door in the door frame twice and making two minor cuts adjustments to fit. Rob hung the replacement door with a little adjustment. Rob then inserted the existing key lock and added the door handles were I wanted them. I asked Rob to secure my rear screen door. Rob added a pen lock to secure my screen door.

Door Doctor transported and installed a mahogany front door and two 1' by 9' windows on either side of the door. All fittings that were used were brass and came separate from the door. The door and windows had to have a certain amount of flexibility. The doors look great and the people at the Door Doctor were a real pleasure to do business with. The qualities of the products they sell as well as the service are outstanding.
