There are two Apple Pencil models. The original Apple Pencil is compatible with the 12.9‑inch iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generation), 10.5‑inch iPad Pro, 9.7‑inch iPad Pro and iPad (6th generation). Apple Pencil (2nd generation) is compatible with the 12.9‑inch iPad Pro (3rd and 4th generation) and 11‑inch iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generation).

You can use Apple Trade In to trade in your eligible iPad for credit towards the purchase of a new iPad. Whether you’re making a purchase or not, we’ve made it easy to trade in an eligible device online. Just answer a few questions regarding the brand, model and condition of your device. We’ll provide an estimated trade-in value or a simple way to recycle it.

If you accept the trade-in estimate online when you purchase a new iPad, we’ll arrange for you to send us your old device. Once we’ve received it, we’ll inspect it and verify its condition. If everything checks out, we’ll credit your original purchase method and send any remaining balance on an Apple Store Gift Card via email.

Regardless of how you choose to trade in, if the condition of your device doesn’t match what you described, a new estimated trade-in value will be provided. You’ll have the option to either accept this revised quote or reject it. If you reject it, your device will be given back to you at no charge.

And if you choose to recycle your device, we’ll provide a prepaid shipping label so you can send your device to our accredited recycling partner.
