Last week we talked about the extraordinary flash drought hitting all of OK and large parts of KS, MO, TX, AR. Western KY/TN too. Then some of this area got absolutely drenched in the last week leading to improvements. But the 8-14 day outlook leans hot and dry.

A Look at Drought in July The Southwest/Southeast saw good precip. The Southern Plains, Upper Midwest, Northeast were relatively dry (CA/Northwest are usually dry in July). Rest of Plains and Midwest were mixed. What did almost the entire Lower 48 have in common? Heat.
