Some patchy rain in central areas and showers in the far north, otherwise mostly fine on Wednesday. Very warm in the far southeast, but cooler elsewhere. Showers are likely to affect the far north on Thursday and Friday, but elsewhere dry and warm. Over the following weekend, a good deal of fine weather is expected, especially in the south, but with a continuing risk of showers in the far north. Temperatures are likely to rise again and become warm for most areas. There is the potential for some very hot conditions to develop in the south for a time. Later, more unsettled and cooler conditions will probably develop with some heavy and thundery rain at times.

Settled conditions are likely to extend more widely across the whole country towards the end of July and into the start of August. However, periods of cloud and rain remain likely in the northwest. Temperatures will perhaps trend widely above average for most initially, especially across the south. England and Wales may see some very warm or even hot periods. It is likely to return closer to normal towards the end of the period, but the south may still experience some warm or very warm periods.
