The VA Evidence Synthesis Program (ESP) is a national research program focused on improving Veteran health and wellbeing through tailored evidence synthesis products. ESP produces high-quality, timely, and innovative syntheses designed to support the implementation of effective practices across the VHA system. ESP syntheses have resulted in positive changes to clinical practice and policy and have informed quality improvement and research-focused initiatives at the national level. The program comprises four Centers across the US and a Coordinating Center (CC) located in Portland, Oregon.
POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The ESP is seeking a Data Visualization and Information (DVI) Specialist to examine and interpret findings of narrative and/or quantitative evidence syntheses (ie, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and related research products) and produce appealing visualizations that effectively facilitate reader understanding of, and engagement with, those findings. The DVI Specialist will also be involved in production of program administrative reports and scientific communication tools (eg, presentations, reporting templates, dashboards, etc) and in program-wide quality assurance activities, such as development and implementation of data visualization standards and practices.
The ideal individual for this role is an innovative thinker that possesses extensive knowledge of principles and practices of effective scientific communication, advanced skillsets in data visualization and scientific report production, and an understanding of health research, statistics and statistical analyses, and systematic reviewing. The individual in this role should also have a broad awareness and appreciation of how scientific evidence supports and enables decision-making processes. Finally, because the individual in this role will support program-wide activities, they should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a large number of team members using remote communication and project management platforms (eg, Microsoft Teams).
The DVI Specialist may work fully remotely, or in person at the VA Portland Health Care System in Portland, Oregon.

The Project Coordinator will oversee implementation of research studies, analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data and data collection forms and surveys. The position involves management of the day-to-day operations of the assigned project including development and implementation of research procedures and systems.
The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in psychology/neuroscience/social work or related field, as well as general knowledge of research methodology. Previous experience with cognitive testing and psychiatric diagnostic interviewing is preferred, as is demonstrated experience in managing study projects.

Position Summary
This Clinical Research position is located in the Research and Development Service of the Veterans Administration Portland Health Care Systems (VAPORHCS) in Portland, Oregon. The incumbent will support Local Site Investigators (LSIs) in the coordination of one or more VA Cooperative Studies Programs (CSP) randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial and/or interventional clinical trial involving experimental and observational research in healthcare. Position Summary: We are a seeking motivated, independent, and experienced candidate for a full-time Research Program Manager position to assist a Principal Investigator (PI) in the VA Center to Improve Veteran Involvement in Care (CIVIC) with multiple research projects intended to advance the prevention and treatment of common and significant mental health issues and conditions that affect Veterans. The Airborne Hazards and Burn Pits Center of Excellence (AHBPCE) and Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences (RBHS) is seeking candidates for one or more full-time faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (coterminous). This position will be based primarily at the VA New Jersey Health Care System (VANJHCS) and is paid directly by the AHBPCE. Academic appointment is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Depending on their qualifications, the successful candidate may be appointed in a department within one of the eight schools at RBHS.
The successful candidate will direct a research program within the AHBPCE at VANJHCS and pursue VA and non-VA sources of funding, with the latter providing opportunities to engage more directly with RBHS. It is expected that the applicant will engage in service at AHBPCE and RBHS and participate in RBHS graduate and medical student education.
Currently, the AHBPCE’s research program is focused predominantly on applied pulmonary physiology research in Veteran populations. Applicants with similar and complementary expertise are welcomed, with the following areas being prioritized:
As a national VA Center of Excellence, the AHBPCE has four primary foci: a) Performing research related to Veterans’ concerns about exposure to airborne hazards and open burn pits; b) Creating and disseminating high quality education activities and materials for Veterans and clinicians; c) Delivering specialized clinical care and consultation for Veterans; and d) Monitoring enterprise clinical response through analysis of VA Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry data and related activities. This position is located within the Research & Development Service Line at VA Boston Healthcare System that conducts health services research projects and performs basic science research. The Health Science Specialist (HSS) functions as a member of a large multidisciplinary research and operations enterprise whose responsibilities are both local and national in scope. National research projects and operational evaluations also relate to VA planning and management. The HSS employs scientific, organizational, interpersonal skills, and an understanding of the basic principles of scientific investigation and in-depth understanding of the study protocols in order to make difficult decisions independently.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent serves as an HSS, partnering with senior level personnel at a VISN1 Research Service to create and maintain a comprehensive, coordinated overview of the VA Medical Center's participation in the Research Service programs. The incumbent is directly responsible for executing highly complex, multi-phased tasks which are required for the successful day-today conduct of the research support activities in this program. The incumbent will provide high level assistance to the Principal Investigators and their support personnel in coordinating participant recruitment; ensuring interview programs are ethically sound and meet all regulatory requirements; develop robust data collection systems and methodologies; and cover all administrative aspects of the studies. The incumbent will also pursue individual funding opportunities when appropriate and organize program evaluations for the department. Job Description: The National Center for PTSD, Women’s Health Sciences Division at VA Boston HealthCare System is seeking up to four full-time Research Assistants for an early summer (June/July) start date. The research assistant(s) will work closely with Principal Investigators and Division staff on research projects related to Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), PTSD treatment and treatment outcome clinical trials, gender differences in traumatic stress exposure and comorbidity with self-destructive behaviors (e.g., self-directed violence, disordered eating, substance use), and health outcomes and stressors unique to women Veterans. Primary responsibilities include conducting telephone and in-person screening sessions, data collection, data analysis, participant recruitment and screening, administrative management of research studies, and assistance in the preparation of grants, presentations, and manuscripts.
Setting: The Women's Health Sciences Division in Boston, MA, specializes in the study of women Veterans and non-Veterans, with a particular focus on understanding gender differences in trauma exposure, trauma and stress in marginalized groups, community violence, and polytrauma psychopathology.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in psychology or a closely related discipline; research experience. Interest in/experience working with individuals at risk of self-directed violence desired for one of the research technician positions.

Since 2007, the ESP has focused on improving Veteran health and wellbeing through the production of tailored evidence synthesis products to support the implementation of effective practices. ESP’s high-quality, timely, and innovative syntheses have resulted in positive changes to clinical practice and policy and have informed quality improvement and research-focused initiatives at the national level. The program comprises 4 ESP Centers across the US and a Coordinating Center (CC) located in Portland, Oregon. Center Directors are VA clinicians and recognized leaders in the field of evidence synthesis with close ties to the AHRQ Evidence-based Practice Center Program. The CC manages national program operations, conducts initial scoping and feasibility assessment of systematic review topics nominated to the ESP, and houses the Rapid Response program, which responds to urgent evidence needs through the production of rapid evidence synthesis products (eg, ESP Evidence Briefs).

The VA CSP Seattle Epidemiologic Research and Information Center (ERIC), is hiring a full-time Research Data Analyst to work with an experienced and growing group of researchers committed to high-quality epidemiologic investigations using large, complex health data to address Veteran health issues.
The Research Data Analyst will support several large, national, epidemiologic research studies as well as smaller-scale, investigator-initiated projects. This position will work closely with the Center’s senior data manager, biostatisticians, and scientific personnel in the conduct of observational epidemiologic studies addressing environmental and occupational exposures, pharmacotherapy, specific medical conditions, and genetics/genomics. Some of the current research projects at the ERIC include pulmonary health, cardiovascular disease, mental health, back pain, dysvascular amputations, and COVID-19 associated outcomes.
