Canadian escalator culture is absolutely top-flight and spoils us for the rest of the world. Look at this nonsense. It’s a wonder I’m not in a Qatari jail.

i can’t just “pivot to instagram.” i don’t want to live on an app that makes me feel bad about myself. i want to live on app that makes me feel bad about the world.

“then he let anyone pay $8 for a blue check and suddenly there were these fake verified pope accounts posting ‘love too eat waffles after sex’ but then later the arrests started” “but grandpa? wasn’t that funny?” [averting teary gaze from hellscape] “it was … so fuckin funny”

Also also ICYMI: Hauntingly beautiful illustration by , and clever, always precise art direction by Arnau Busquets Guàrdia, made last week’s cover really sing. (Clearly I am no longer needed here!)

It would be extremely on-brand for me to be late for my flight home today waiting for bagels to be delivered.

Turns out, I could have devoted every single moment of every single day I have left on this planet and would never have come up with the answer.

This week’s @POLITICOEurope cover story: @suzannelynch1 and @IlyaGridneff on the von der Leyen paradox — how the very qualities that are serving her well in the U.S are rubbing many in Brussels the wrong way. With a terrific portrait by @lucas_peverill.

Today, I begin my gradual exit from Asia: Bali > Singapore > Hong Kong > Tokyo > Hokkaido (where I'll spend a week) > Tokyo > Chicago > Richmond. It's been a nightmare of a year, frankly, so I'll be glad to wrap it up by eating too much ramen and then seeing some friendly faces.

In a brief editor’s note appearing on page B5 of the ⁦@washingtonpost⁩ Outlook section, executive editor ⁦@SallyBuzbee⁩ announces her decision to close down the Sunday Outlook section after nearly 70 years. I will miss it.
