We’re based in Brussels, have offices in London, Paris and Berlin, and reach across Europe and beyond. Our quality journalism can be found on our website, our POLITICO Pro subscription policy news service, in daily morning newsletters such as Brussels Playbook and London Playbook, in our award-winning weekly print edition, and at our live events.

We’re growing and coming up with new products and services all the time, so we need the very best people to make that happen.

What values do we share?

Which talent pool could you join?

Editorial

Our 100+ reporters cover a huge number of topics — we have 12 POLITICO Pro subscription sections plus all of our political coverage. The newsroom is multicultural, multilingual, impartial and highly skilled, and we write everything from breaking news alerts to in-depth articles to policy newsletters. Everyone who works in our newsrooms is encouraged to come up with ideas, work collaboratively and share their knowledge.

Corporate & business

Our business side covers everything from sales and product to business intelligence and from human resources to finance. Our teams use their expertise to drive growth, profitability and an excellent user experience across the business – from Pro services and our journalistic platforms to events and sponsorships. It’s a fast-paced and collaborative environment where each team member can make a real impact on our success.

Internships

We want the most talented students (and ex-students) from universities across the world, allowing them to get a valuable insight into POLITICO (and a great addition to the CV!) while helping us deliver our quality journalism — and yes, we do sometimes give interns full-time jobs. We have internships across the company. Find out more below or come and say hello at out annual EU Studies and Careers Fair.

Creating excellent journalism

Our editorial team

Reporting

POLITICO has 65+ reporters in Brussels (more than any other international media outlet) with another 35 spread between London, Paris, Rome and Berlin — plus a network of regular contributors across the rest of the Continent. Their job is to make contacts within the EU institutions and national governments and find out what is really going on so that our readers find out first. We major on the most important developments in European politics and policy, including the impact these events will have on businesses, citizens, diplomacy and the economy.

Laurens Cerulus
Global Cybersecurity Correspondent

My name is Laurens Cerulus and I am POLITICO Europe’s Global Cybersecurity Correspondent. I joined POLITICO in April 2015 as a web producer. Reporting for POLITICO means you have the freedom to write gutsy stories, develop top sources and practice beat reporting in ways that few other outlets can offer. The newsroom is a team of highly-talented and collegial people from across Europe and the world – it truly is international journalism at its best.

One piece of advice you would offer to someone applying for a job at POLITICO:

Show persistence, enthusiasm and creativity to catch the attention. And don’t hesitate to reach out directly for more tips.

Editing

POLITICO’s editing team guides our coverage by commissioning and editing news, features and opinion pieces on the most important stories of the day. The aim is for our report to give our readers an insider’s insight into what is really going on and what it means. Our editors also oversee investigations and help direct reporters towards important scoops.

Matt Honeycombe-Foster
UK Policy Editor

My name is Matt Honeycombe-Foster and I am UK Policy Editor here at POLITICO. I joined in 2020 and also write our weekly London Influence newsletter.
What I love about my job is the chance to learn something new every day. Whether that’s reading expert policy takes from our reporters, harvesting gossip from Westminster sources who respect and value POLITICO, or taking time to get stuck into the nuances of a big debate, there’s always something new to get my head around and the space to grow as a journalist.
The best thing for me about working at POLITICO is our global perspective. Morning meetings give us the chance to swap ideas, challenge conventional thinking in our own capitals — and if you’re struggling to get your head around a story, chances are there’ll be someone on desk who knows it inside out. There’s also a tremendous sense of fun. Nobody takes themselves too seriously, even when putting their heart into a story.

One piece of advice you would offer to someone applying for a job at POLITICO:

Bring ideas, bring enthusiasm — and think about a creative way into a story that personally excites you and that our editors may not even have spotted yet! Good luck.

Production

POLITICO’s production desk ensures the smooth delivery of content to our audience, via the website, email and social media. The team aims to provide readers with a visually compelling experience through the use of attractive photos, illustrations and design, plus the creation of illuminating infographics.

Ana Fota
Social Media Producer

My name is Ana Fota and I am the social media producer. I joined POLITICO in January 2021. Through my work, I get to bring our coverage directly to our audience, in creative ways. Our coverage finds the universal importance in local stories throughout Europe’s cities, which makes my job endlessly fascinating.

One piece of advice you would offer to someone applying for a job at POLITICO:

POLITICO also loves a good sense of humor. If you’re looking to apply for a job here, I’d advise letting yours shine in the application.

Bringing our journalism to our customers:

Product & Business

Sales & Business Development

Our sales team holds responsibility for the products and services we provide to our clients, including our Pro subscription business as well as our advertising and event sponsorships.

Bernadett Lauko
Account Executive, Pro Sales

My name is Bernadett and I am an Account Executive at POLITICO Pro. I joined POLITICO and the Pro sales team in 2016, a year after launch.
I really like that through my work I have a special insight, since I get to meet and hear from a range of different people and organizations working with EU policies. On top of this, the personal satisfaction I’ve gained through this role has shaped my outlook on life and how I view everything.
The best thing about working at POLITICO certainly must be the people; colleagues and readers alike.

One piece of advice you would offer to someone applying for a job at POLITICO:

Don’t be afraid to bring your personality to the table. Here we have so many different talents and this diversity makes it a great place to work. Also be prepared to learn; you could say that being a life-long learner can apply to everyone.

POLITICO Live

Our events team takes POLITICO’s journalism live in different formats ranging from big summits to panel discussions, roundtables and high-level interviews organizing more than 45 events per year – online and in person.

Mathilde Ciocci
Director of Events, POLITICO Live

My name is Mathilde Ciocci and I am Director of Events for POLITICO Live. I joined POLITICO before it was POLITICO – ahead of launch in 2015 – as an Event Project Manager.
The best part of working for POLITICO Live is that we get to work with all the departments at POLITICO, from the newsroom, and the product and marketing teams, to the media solutions department. We also have a finger on the pulse of the whole POLITICO ecosystem as we talk to the policymakers and industry leaders who speak at our events, to the sponsors who underwrite the live conversations, as well as to our readers who attend them. The great thing about organizing events for such a media organization as POLITICO is the convening power: we get to host the important political and policy debates of the day with the people who are driving them.

One piece of advice you would offer to someone applying for a job at POLITICO:

For anyone wanting to join us, I would say the most important thing is to show how you fit with the culture: a fast-paced, young, dynamic, and innovative company where everyone is driven by the mission to bring great nonpartisan journalism to our audience.

Product

Our product team is at the intersection of editorial, tech, marketing and business. Working closely with the other departments, we develop products. We make sure that every single one of them meets customer needs and serves POLITICO’s overall strategy.

One thing I love about my work is the range of different things we do: we cover so many areas from tech and AI through to the inner goings-on in the corridors of power. That’s probably the best thing too about work here: we’re a really diverse bunch of people with a huge amount of collective experience and ambition.

One piece of advice you would offer to someone applying for a job at POLITICO:

If you’re thinking about applying for a job here, do your homework. Many of our newsletters are free to subscribe to and events free to attend, so read them and take the chance to get a feel for what we do!

Marketing

Our marketing team is the audience growth and outreach hub of the business. Working closely with editorial, sales, product and tech, the marketing team takes products to market, ensuring their continued growth. Custodians of the brand, they make sure that our products have a coherent look and feel, that makes sense to customers, and readers.

Freddie Martyn
Marketing Director

My name is Freddie Martyn and I am POLITICO’s Marketing Director. I joined POLITICO in 2018 as an Events Marketing Manager.
I love that my team is at the center of the action at POLITICO. No one day is the same, from chatting with journalists and understanding their priorities, to collaborating with sales to ensure the growth of the company. We’re always in touch with everyone, both in and out of the company, getting them excited about our incredible brand, our quality journalism and our must-read products.

One piece of advice you would offer to someone applying for a job at POLITICO:

The Office Life department is crucial for the company. You need to be proactive and multitasking most of the time but with a lot of fun moments.
