Flip Writer AAC
Flip Writer AAC is a deaf-to-hearing communication device. Messages typed on this iPad app are shown on two displays, one facing the user and one for their communication partner. Text can be converted into synthesized speech, and the built-in speech recognition feature allows communication partners to speak into the app and have their speech converted to large, easily legible text. The accents and speech rate used by the text to speech feature are customizable, and the text size of the displays are as well. Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and need to communicate directly with individuals in person to accomplish essential job tasks may benefit from this device.
iCommunicate
iCommunicate is an augmentative communication software. This iOS app allows users to design visual schedules, storyboards, communication boards, routines, flash cards, choice boards, speech cards, and more. The included symbols or text to speech feature can be used and customized in order to communicate effectively with others. Additionally, this software can be used create storyboards that remind users how to carry out essential tasks. Individuals who need assistance communicating with others or regulating daily tasks/schedules may benefit from this device.
