Program overview
This innovative program provides transitioning service members with professional training and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce. The professional development offered through the program prepares candidates for a smooth transition into meaningful civilian careers. Participating corporations benefit by gaining access to the best and brightest transitioning service members, while also developing a more comprehensive understanding of the veteran job market.
Fellowship Hosts
Matching with a host company
Fellowship candidates are carefully matched with participating companies based on the specific skills of the candidate and the preferences of both parties. Once matched with a host company, candidates undergo exclusive on-the-job training at their host company, gaining firsthand experience in the private sector. This real-world experience is augmented by weekly educational sessions for the cohort, held in a classroom setting.

* The Corporate Fellowship Program is able to offer limited opportunities for candidates who are interested in doing a fellowship at a location where HOH does not have an established program. These other locations connect candidates to vetted companies who are familiar with the program’s mission and have previously hosted fellows at established sites.

  • Fellows must meet education and leadership experience requirements
The Corporate Fellowship Program is an approved Department of Defense SkillBridge Program. A fellow who demonstrates progress and proves to be a good fit for their host company will have the opportunity to interview for an open position. Fellows will also be able to network with other companies within the fellowship program and interviews may be offered, given the proven track record of a fellow’s success.
The education component of the program provides professional development training for fellows in various skillsets desired by employers, such as project management, influencing without authority, and strategic communications. This specific coursework strengthens their professional knowledge, giving fellows an edge in the civilian job market. At the conclusion of each week, the Military Spouse Fellowship Program hosts a “fellowship huddle” featuring senior-level guest speakers. This engagement allows fellows the opportunity to make meaningful connections with leaders in the private sector, while also learning from corporate experts in key positions. To supplement this learning, fellows have the opportunity to complete a certification track course of their choosing through our partner Simplilearn. View a sample of online certification courses.
The 12-week program is held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fellows attend an initial week of corporate training followed by 11 weeks of on-the-job training with their selected organization. Corporate training takes place Monday through Thursday with a day of mandatory classroom instruction every Friday.
