He both the garage door frame and kitchen door frame required he disassemble the garage door structure to get at the wood, and remove my kitchen and screen doors to cut out the damaged wood. Maria called and explained how the deal worked and we determined that I would need a carpenter and plumber to do the work. She did an excellent job of explaining how they charged so that I knew up front what to expect. On the day scheduled Stan the carpenter arrived right on time at 7:30AM and got right to work on the doors. He was very efficient with his time and did an excellent job doing all of the described work in only 6.5 hours. Frank the plumber arrived as scheduled around noon and completed the most critical plumbing jobs in a timely manner and agreed to come back and work on my sluggish drains later. Both workman were very experienced and explained what they had to do and did quality work. I have some other work to do and will definitely hire Moss Building and Design again and ask for Stan and Frank again.

We already had the plans drawn up by then. The project started in July, 2017, and was completed in May, 2017. Our favorite thing about Matthew was that he was very quick to respond to any question/concern we had. He was always easy to reach. We also enjoyed his positive outlook and upbeat attitude when it came to problem solving. His workers, Marcelo the carpenter and Giovanny our project manager who can do almost anything, did an excellent job. When we hit a glitch, with the plumber, for instance, Matthew was very efficient in fixing it. Overall, we would wholeheartedly recommend Matthew Willis and his crew.

We discovered exterior damage to the window frame when we had interior painting done. The carpenter who came replaced the damaged part with new primed wood (thanks - I'd expected to have to prime it myself). He added trim and caulk, and explained why the damage had occurred and how future damage could be prevented. I submitted photos via email and the estimate was done based on them. Work was scheduled for the same week. Cost of $108 constituted $74 for 2 hours exterior carpentry work (Angie's deal) plus $34 materials. Work was completed in the 2 hours already paid for. Very pleased with the work and the pleasant young man, Justin, who did it.

Benchmark Painting & Carpentry of Kensington, LLC
Results were far beyond our expectations. We initially hired Benchmark to rebuild a single cabinet, but after talking with Reynaldo, the lead carpenter on the job, we decided to take the plunge and add the laundry room trim and shelf and install the new counter. Reynaldo brought us samples and helped us choose a counter top that really makes the basement entrance attractive again. Most of the cost of the project was in removing the old counter top, ripping the new one to a custom width, and building the water shutoff cabinet. The work was completed very quickly. 2 carpenters worked for 1/2 day, and the following day 1 carpenter (Mr. Martinez) worked the full day removing and installing the new counter top. Most of the cost of the job was in the counter top ($1200) which we hadn't expected to do, but the results were fantastic.

C-Con bid on my basement buildout on June 14th. They provided a detailed estimate with all applicable charges broken out. They offered alternative options that allowed us to complete some portions of the basement on our own (paint, and flooring), and included a project timeline that gave a clear picture of the project. We awarded C-Con the contract on June 14th, and work began on June 21st. C-Con provided a project manager who was able to oversee the job and ensure all of the pieces of work were completed in the time allotted and to the specifications we had requested. The president of the company made several visits to our home to oversee the progress and ensure we were satisfied. They kept a very clean jobsite throughout the entire project. We were extremely satisfied with the work being completed, and even requested additional services during the build-out. C-Con provided change orders based on our requests so we could review and approve the additional charges prior to the work being performed. We are scheduled for final inspection on July 1st, and will be able to celebrate the 4th of July in our new basement!!! Total consturction time was 2 weeks and the work is AMAZING! The quality of the basement far exceeds the rest of the house!! These guys did a fantastic job!!

Some minor price adjustments to the original proposal reflected both savings in some areas and adjustments for additional work in other areas. Initial contact and dialogue went as expected. I spoke with a representative, sent the specifications and the sample design/picture. The rep said she would get back to me within 30 minutes, she did not. When I called I was told she had departed for the day. On the next business day, I called again and was told the request was with the Master Carpenter and I would receive a quote soon. After a few calls and conversations, another representative provided a verbal quote but without any detail, and did not send a written quote. I suspect she sensed my frustration and was trying to be helpful. I subsequently spoke with the rep I originally contacted. She assured me the Master Carpenter had my request and I would get the quote. To date, I have yet to receive the quote. I am disappointed with JW's performance. I used this firm a few years ago and was very pleased with their responsiveness, the quality of the work and the professionalism of those who preformed the work. Something has changed in their process, I hope they regain their edge.

Stan and Michael did an excellent job removing a french door and reframing the new door. Stan is a highly experienced master carpenter and he took the time to point out the flaws from a prior installation (done by another contractor) and he showed me the process step-by-step. He took the time to answer all of my questions and this provided me with the reassurance that the installation was being done the proper way. Michael provided assistance to Stan and also took care of some drywall work. The door looks great. During two occasions, we noticed a draft and Moss promptly followed up to readjust the door. Moss has completed large and small projects in our home and I'm always impressed and very satisfied with the level of professionalism.

Once they began demo for the floor, they noticed significant rot under the tub and were able to add that repair to the scope of work for a reasonable price.
