The U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence, or MEDCoE, is located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The Army Medicine proponent is responsible to envision and design responsive Army Medicine capabilities and structure that support the fielded force and the future force, developing adaptive medical doctrine that supports Army and Joint Force operational requirements. As one of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command's 10 Centers of Excellence, MEDCoE is who the Army relies upon to train, educate and inspire all of its medical personnel.

The Medical Education and Training Campus is the first stop for nearly all Army, Navy and Air Force enlisted medical training and a point of return for a majority of advanced enlisted medical training. METC was established in 2010 as part of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission decision to co-locate the majority of enlisted medical training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. With the mission of training the world's finest enlisted medical professionals, the campus maintains an average daily student load of 5,500 students in 48 medical training programs.
