The Federal Library and Information Network FEDLINK has recognized Emily Shohfi as the 2021 Federal Librarian of the Year. Shohfi is a clinical librarian in the Darnall Medical Library at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The award acknowledges the innovative ways that federal libraries, librarians and library technicians play in fulfilling the information demands of government, business, scholarly communities and the American public.

The Director of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), Brig. General Jack Davis, paid tribute to victims of the recent shooting at an elementary school in Texas during a recent morning colors formation at the facility. He said the tragic event and others like it are especially impactful on the staff, which is largely made up of military personnel and healthcare workers who are committed to protecting lives.

Nurse Stephanie Mosby-Carroll, a native of Richmond Virginia, has been living in the Washington DC area for over 30 years. She joined the WRNMMC team in 2011 as a contract nurse, at a time when most of the medical center’s patients were wounded warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan.
