The Brennan Center for Justice works with NYU law school faculty and students to uphold the American ideals of democracy and equal justice, for all.

Since its founding in 1995, the Brennan Center for Justice has benefited from a close relationship with the faculty and students of New York University School of Law.

NYU Law students often serve as legal interns and work on projects with Brennan Center staff through the Law School’s Brennan Center Public Policy Advocacy Clinic, a semester-long fieldwork course taught by Brennan Center attorneys. NYU Law faculty comprise one-third of the Brennan Center’s board of directors, and many professors have collaborated with the center in various capacities. The Brennan Center also hosts numerous symposia, panel discussions, and book talks at the law school each year.

“We gain enormously from being able to draw on the energy and skill of the students, the involvement with the faculty, and many other things,” said Brennan Center President Michael Waldman. “Being part of the NYU family is really core to the strength of the Brennan Center…. Because we’re rooted in one of the best law schools in the world, that enables us to have rigor and credibility and independence in doing that work.”
