Mitch Stoltz

Competition Director

Mitch Stoltz is EFF’s Competition Director and a member of the legal team. Mitch leads EFF’s work on antitrust and competition, including litigation, legislative advocacy, coalition building, and policy analysis to address the effects of market concentration on user rights and innovation.

Mitch also litigates cases where copyright and trademark laws collide with free speech, defending the rights of software developers, security researchers, and nonprofit organizations to advance their work with technology. His recent cases and projects have covered Internet TV and radio, game development, free and open source software licensing, government transparency, and domain names.

Before joining EFF, Mitch was an associate at Constantine Cannon LLP in Washington DC. Long ago, in an Internet far far away, Mitch was a security engineer at Netscape Communications, where he worked to secure Web browsers against malware. Mitch has a JD from Boston University School of Law and a BA in Public Policy Analysis and Computer Science from Pomona College.
