The presentations and communications have been divided into different blocks: planning, mitigation, infrastructures: socio-economic, environmental and legal evaluation. The technical director of the congress clarified that one thing are specific droughts and another is the permanent shortage suffered by the Segura Basin and especially the Vega Baja. “Within this area, the presentations dedicated to the Tajo-Segura Transfer are very important and, in fact, there are three that go in that same direction. It will deal with the change of the exploitation rule with what is foreseen in the ecological flows, the transformation and the increase of the same ”.
Another point to highlight, with the participation of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation and the Polytechnic University of Valencia, will be the possible and potential solutions for floods because “proposals and ideas can do many but we need that to be realized and stabilized at through budgets, above all, the Generals of the State. In this sense, we have not seen in the analyzes any direct participation committed to spending of a significant nature destined for this", said Melgarejo.

The IUACA researcher, María de los Ángeles Bernal Romero del Hombre Bueno, member of the LIFE EMPORE project, participated on May 8, 2019 in the international congress "10th International Conference on River Basin Management" organised by Wessex Institute (United Kingdom) and the UA, with the oral presentation "ASSESSING SOCIAL PERCEPTION OF EMERGING POLLUTANTS IN THE SOUTH-EAST SPAIN" (authors: MA Bernal-Romero del Hombre Bueno, P. Aznar-Crespo, A. Jódar-Abellán, J. Melgarejo and D Prats). The most relevant results of the evaluation of the social perception of water experts on the presence of emerging pollutants in wastewater were presented. It should be noted that the information evaluated was taken from the surveys carried out during the ESAMUR Conferences held on 21 and 22 November 2018 in Lorca, Murcia. The impact of future regulations on specific regulation of wastewater ECs raises uncertainty among experts, who believe that current WWTPs are not prepared for the elimination of these compounds. The experts expressed the need to apply combined treatments that include current technologies (membranes, advanced oxidation, adsorption, etc.) to obtain a higher quality water free of ECs, with price being one of the factors that most concern them.

Fulgencio Contreras (IMIDA), presentó el proyecto “LIFE AQUEMFREE. Mª Isabel Fortea (UCAM) presentó el proyecto “LIFE CLEAN UP.
The National Water Conference will be held in Orihuel (Alicante), on February 21 and 22, 2019.
