Hi! This is my talk page, feel free to drop me a message. To experienced editors: feel free to stalk my talk page and reply to any threads here.To admins: I prefer that my talk page remain unprotected, even if it's being vandalized. Such edits do not particularly bother me and I prefer to remain accessible to anyone who would like to reach me. However, if the volume of vandalism is so high that no other solution would stop disruption, I don't mind if my talk page is semi-protected for a day or two. Hopefully, this is a rare occurrence.

Question from Jasondottleyofficial (00:41, 7 June 2022)[edit]

my article has been vandalised and targeted by trolls on datalounge to try to have removed https://www.datalounge.com/thread/30947120-miss-dottley-thinks-she-is-a-god-and-must-be-stopped! and it's not the only thread about it. this started in oct or november and I have no idea how to stop it. --Jasondottleyofficial (talk) 00:41, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Jasondottleyofficial: this situation seems to be a bit of a mess. The article will almost certainly not be deleted without going through an articles for deletion discussion, during which you would be able to provide sourcing in favor of keeping the article.
On another note, could I suggest that you and your PR firm stop editing the article? While this does not affect its notability, it does affect its neutrality, and while not entirely prohibited, is strongly discouraged. Elli (talk | contribs) 00:51, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Thank you so much for your prompt reply! First and foremost, until this mess my management and pr people did not that they were not allowed to keep an eye on and correct anything. They were honest mistakes that will not happen again. This is why I started my own account and wrote you and asked other for help. I understand now that beyond just me, no one biased can partake either. Problem solved. 😏 I just don't understand how the references are in question or the facts they reference when the sources for 80% of everything is as legit and high up the ladder as you can go (I.e. Billboard Magazine for charting, Deadline The Advocate, etc) and I noticed several years ago this was poesd and editors decidced it did meet notability standards. Anyway, thank you again for offering advice and your help. We will keep our hands off of things as we have been since learning the policy, and hope that the truth speaks for itself. I can't imagine the craziness of your work here! God bless! Jasondottleyofficial (talk) 01:01, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Gwils (11:16, 7 June 2022)[edit]

Hi there, I need to make an account for an upcoming feature documentary. How do I do this? --Gwils (talk) 11:16, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Gwils: hello, I'm not quite sure what you're asking? If you're involved with this documentary I would suggest not creating or editing an article on it yourself, as you have a conflict of interest. If you do intend to do so anyway, there is no need to create a separate account to do so. Elli (talk | contribs) 15:21, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022[edit]

Wikipedia New page reviewer.svg
New Page Review queue June 2022

Hello Elli,

Backlog status

At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.

Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]

In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).

While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).

Backlog drive

A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. WikiProject Barnstar Hires.png Barnstars will be awarded.

TIP – New school articles

Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.

Misc

There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:

>NPP backlog: 11168 as of 20:15, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.

Reminders
  • Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
  • If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
  • To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.
Notes
  1. ^ not including another ~6,000 redirects
  2. ^ The number of weekly reviews reported in the NPP feed includes redirects, which are not included in the backlog we primarily track.

WikiCup 2022 July newsletter[edit]

The third round of the 2022 WikiCup has now come to an end. Each of the sixteen contestants who made it into the fourth round had at least 180 points, which is a lower figure than last year when 294 points were needed to progress to round 4. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  • Zulu (International Code of Signals) BennyOnTheLoose, with 746 points, a tally built both on snooker and other sports topics, and on more general subjects.
  • Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132, with 683 points, garnered mostly from "In the news" items and related DYKs.
  • Transgender Pride flag.svg Sammi Brie, with 527, from a variety of submissions related to radio and television stations.

Between them contestants achieved 5 featured articles, 4 featured lists, 51 good articles, 149 DYK entries, 68 ITN entries, and 109 good article reviews. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Wikipedia policies, regardless of the review process.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article nomination, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Question from Sripad R sharma (11:21, 4 July 2022)[edit]

hi, namaste i myself Sripad R sharma , am a new contributor for this wide knowledge and highly educated Wikipedia. I do believe as if I do have a relation of thirst and water with Wikipedia. As I am new to the huge resourceful Wikipedia, I had published my very first draft article on 3 July 2022. The Wikipedia page had clarified that the draft article published would be sent for a check. But I have not been updated the latest result...I, a well wisher of Wikipedia would request the enthusiastic officials to code a tab where contributors can easily get updated with the latest information about their article. I would like to also request for my article's progress. Wikipedia's well wisher Sripad R sharma thank you --Sripad R sharma (talk) 11:21, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
