Engineering opportunity in the Big Apple
New York City, USA
Uber is changing the way cities move globally through our transportation and mobility solutions. Next to Manhattan's Bryant Park, Uber NYC is the headquarters of our Observability, Uber Eats, and Uber for Business Engineering teams. In NYC, our Observability team is responsible for building and open sourcing such projects as Jaeger, an end-to-end distributed tracing system, and M3, our large-scale metrics platform; Uber Eats engineers and data scientists develop features and products to support our restaurant-partners in 350-plus cities worldwide; and the Uber for Business team builds the systems that power Uber Health, Uber Central, and other B2B products on our platform.

100 Pursuit fellows received advice from Uber recruiting and engineering staff. Nancy Wu and Tanmoy Saha gave a presentation on the recruiting and interview process at Uber, and Nikki Cuellar moderated a panel afterwards with Carl Gibbs, Derek Santos, and Ali Sofen.
A group of Uber NYC Tech employees worked together with South Bronx United to showcase different tech career opportunities to high school students that come from low income neighborhoods in the Bronx. A majority of these students had never been exposed to what a career in tech looks like, and our Uber tech NYC employees showed just that to them in 1400 Broadway. This was an incredible and rewarding experience for both us and the kids as we had the opportunity to open 20+ student's eyes to a new future career path.
The NYC Tech Team had the pleasure of hosting middle school students from AIM High Institute to teach them about a career in technology. They participated in an interactive activity where they learned from five different teams about coding and data science at Uber. HUGE thank you to Andres Arango, Brandon Chen, Ben Raskin, Fabrizio Lecci, & Derek Santos for volunteering and teaching! Check out the Uber Eng Facebook and Twitter posts!

'The sheer global scale that Uber provides is unparalleled. We start things off as small but eventually work with our operations teams to scale our work across the world. This process allows unique collaboration opportunities to work with smart coworkers outside just of engineering.'
