About Us

Silhouette of office workersVA’s Office of Management (OM) is responsible for directing the Department’s budgetary, financial, capital asset management, and business oversight functions as well as corporate analysis and evaluation.  OM has two primary roles — operational, in support of the Department’s Administrations and Staff Offices so they can accomplish their missions; and stewardship, to ensure for the Secretary VA’s compliance with laws, policies, and directions from external organizations such as OMB, Treasury, GSA, GAO and Congress.  OM is under the direction of Assistant Secretary for Management who serves as the Department’s Chief Financial Officer, Performance Improvement Officer, Energy Executive, Environmental Executive, and Real Property Executive.

OM is comprised of the following five major organizational elements that report to the Assistant Secretary for Management and the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Management:

What We Do

OM’s responsibilities are executed through programs administered by the Deputy Assistant Secretaries for Budget and Finance; and by the Directors of Asset Enterprise Management, and Office of Business Oversight and Corporate Analysis and Evaluation.  OM provides direct strategic and operational leadership in budget, financial management, asset enterprise management, performance management, risk management, and promotes public confidence in the Department through stewardship and oversight of business activities that are consistent with national policy, law, and regulation.
