Smelling pistakes
In addition to bone-deep burn scars on my left hand I now also have C7 radiculopathy, so my typing is particularly erratic right now. I have a spellcheck plugin but it can't handle larger text blocks. You're welcome to fix spelling errors without pinging me, but please don't change British to American spelling or indeed vice-versa.

God Jul och Gott Nytt År![edit]

JzG is taking a looong wikibreak[edit]

I don't blame you, but you should know you're missed. I know this page gets archived quite aggressively, though — oh, well. Bishonen | tålk 08:30, 17 November 2021 (UTC).[reply]

Also hoping to see you around in the future, —PaleoNeonate – 04:13, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, hoping to see you back soon! Chaipau (talk) 01:46, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JzG! Are you still out there?[edit]

Hi JzG! I was going through some old ArbCom cases and ran into one where you had added some statements. I realized that I haven't spoken to you in quite some time, and I see that you haven't made any edits since May... That sucks! I don't want to see someone like you go! If anything, I hope that you're doing well and that you're happy and that you'll someday return here. I just wanted to leave you a message and let you know that I was thinking about you... Keep in touch. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:05, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I hope it goes without saying, despite the fact that I'm saying it, that many of us feel the same way. Happy new year Girth Summit (blether) 23:13, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We didn't cross paths very often lately, JzG, but we could really use you back. If you get the urge to return, please say "Yes!" Liz Read! Talk! 01:14, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

O HAI[edit]

I am not dead (yet). I have been dealing with multiple family problems plus a substantial worsening of my tinnitus. I can no longer sing or listen to choral music, which has robbed me of my principal source of joy in life. I am also working for a major hospital group, so things are kind of busy. As a result, I am no longer able to remain civil to maskholes, ANTIVA, or people who think Ashlii Babbit was the real victim of the coup attempt on Jan 6, 2021. The world is suffering from the problem Wikipedia has had for ages: fake sources designed to promote an ideology while looking superficially plausible. And I no longer have the energy to fight civil POV-pushing. Guy (help! - typo?) 00:42, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back! Nice to have you again. I hope you are on the way to sorting out the troubles. Chaipau (talk) 02:39, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also heading heading in that direction. Sorry to hear about the problems and tinnitus would be horrible. Anyway, you won't be surprised to know that things here are pretty much the same as always. There's a discussion somewhere about how much prominence should be give to Larry Sanger's insightful analysis regarding Wikipedia, and the WMF are working diligently to improve the infrastructure, for example, by masking IP addresses. Welcome back! Johnuniq (talk) 02:45, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I too have tinnitus although it must be much milder than yours, since it does not interfere with my enjoyment of music, and I am aware of it mostly when things are silent. Of course, my tastes are far less refined than yours because I prefer hard rock of the mid to late 60s and early 70s. I, for one, very much miss your participation in this encyclopedia, and I suspect that I am one among many. As for civility, it is a useful tool in my view for responding in an effective way to kooks, creeps, harassers, trolls, fanatics and cranks. Administrators who block editors in a civil fashion gain the moral high ground and largely immunize themselves against accusations of bias and unfairness. At least this has been my experience to date. I have blocked over 6000 editors and only 28 of them have been unblocked. But maybe a return to administrative work is not what you want. Perhaps you can help out with home improvement or Honda Jazz articles. I am just happy to see you commenting on your own talk page, and wish you the best with your health and life issues. I agree with you that getting old is no fun. Cullen328 (talk) 03:37, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My wife wants me to add that she is very sympathetic about your hearing problems. I think that you know that she was a serious violin student as an adolescent, until progressive nerve deafness took that away from her in her teenage years. We both wish you the very best. Cullen328 (talk) 03:53, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I just want to echo the welcome back sentiment, in whatever capacity, and to sympathise. Some (all) fringe pages are as if you never left. -Roxy the grumpy dog. wooF 04:23, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My wife is also very grateful for your generous IT technical advice, and I thank you as well. It is wonderful to have someone so competent and helpful to bounce questions off of. Cullen328 (talk) 05:24, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Guy: I have not been very active recently, so I did not know you had been away. I just wanted to say that I'm glad you're back, as your rationality and devotion to scientific truth has been a constant source of comfort to me in my endeavors at Wikipedia. Please always remember that there are those of us who look to you as an exemplar of how a Wikipedia should edit. Best, Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:10, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
