Malhotra (Hindi: मल्होत्रा, Punjabi: ਮਲਹੋਤਰਾ) is a Punjabi Khatri surname name belonging to Dhai Ghar family-group in the Indian subcontinent.[1] It is modified usage of Mehrotra,[2] (west of Capital city Delhi). Mehrotra is a modified form of Mehra in and around present day Uttar Pradesh State of India because here Mehra has a lower caste connotation.

Most persons bearing this caste name belong to Hindu religion although a Malhotra may conform to any faith such as Sufism or Sikhism.
