This list will be updated daily as information becomes available.

Communities across the country pull out all the stops to honor their veterans through a variety of programs and events. With world events impacting the ability to gather in person, many parades or events have been canceled or modified to a virtual format for 2021. Check out the list below to find out how and where you can celebrate Veterans Day in 2021. Events are in-person unless otherwise noted.

2021 Veterans Day Events:

Erie, Pennsylvania Veterans Day Parade

The Erie VA Medical Center will host its annual Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 6. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Veterans Stadium on the corner of State and 26th Streets. Participants will meet on the French Street Side of the stadium no later than 9:00 a.m. The community is invited to attend as we pay tribute to local Veterans. Show your support in one of two ways: sign-up to march in the parade or show your support from the sidelines. Charleston, South Carolina Veterans Day Parade

The Charleson, South Carolina Veterans Day parade is a very special event that gives the community an opportunity to recognize America’s heroes - our veterans! The parade will start at Concord St. and Market St. and end at Colonial Lake. The parade will kick-off Nov. 6 at 11:52 a.m. with a speaker and the singing of the National Anthem, followed by a flyover and the parade start at noon. Cobb County, Georgia Women Veterans Honor Ceremony

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Georgia Department of Veteran Services, and Cobb County Government invite you to join them as they honor female veterans Nov. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. Four female Veterans who served in the armed forces during WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the most recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will share their experiences and memories while serving. Also onsite will be: Veteran services providers; COVID-19 vaccination clinic (click here to register for vaccine services); Cobb County Animal Services Pet Adoption Trailer (adoption fee waived for Veterans). Denver, Colorado Veterans Day Festival

Colorado Veterans Project (CVP) is set to host its eighth annual Denver Veterans Day Festival in partnership with the city of Denver Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 16th Street Mall, between California and Tremont. The Denver Veterans Day Festival will provide the opportunity for civilians, veterans and uniformed military to celebrate and commemorate U.S. service members. Formerly a parade, this year’s event will see a temporary change of format to a stationary festival. Admission is free and will feature marching bands, a variety of veterans organizations, military reenactments, an assortment of vintage and military-era vehicles, a kids’ area complete with entertainment and activities and more. A dedication ceremony for the Colorado Fallen Heroes Memorial will take place at Lincoln Veterans Memorial Park ahead of the festival.

Littleton, Colorado Veteran Storytelling and Suicide Awareness Event - Virtual option available

Mission Hills Church presents “Proximity: caring for those wounded by war,“ an evening of veteran storytelling to raise awareness of the issue of moral injury and to offer simple ways to care for those who are struggling with guilt and shame, which exacerbates PTSD symptomology and contributes to suicide. The event will be hosted in person at Mission Hills Church in Littleton, Colorado November 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. MST and live streaming online. Register on the Mission Hills website.

National Museum of the Pacific War Veterans Day Program -- Virtual

A time to honor those who have served, our virtual Veterans Day Program this year is a moment to pay respect and show our support for the nation's veterans. The event will be held on Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST. Our program features an introduction by General Michael Hagee, USMC (Ret), ANF president, and CEO followed by a speech from World War II veteran DG “Mac” McWilliams about his military experience in the Marine Corps. The National Anthem is performed by Boerne Middle School North. Other veterans will share their thoughts on Veterans Day. Fredericksburg Middle School will conclude the program with a medley of military anthems.

National Museum of the United States Army Veterans Day Program

The National Museum of the United States Army will mark Veterans Day and the first anniversary of its opening on November 11 starting at 9 a.m. Tributes at the Museum will include volunteers lining the Path of Remembrance with 389flags, “Thank a Veteran” card-making activity for families, history talk about Army veterans throughout history, special up-close look at Revolutionary War artifacts, and discounts at the Café and Museum Store. National Veterans Day Observance

The Department of Veterans Affairs hosts the annual National Veterans Day Observance on Nov. 11 each year at Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony starts at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns. The VA and its partners, Arlington Cemetery and the Military District of Washington will live stream the event on Facebook, at https://www.facebook.com/VeteransAffairs.

New York Veterans Day Parade

The 102nd annual parade presented by the United War Veterans Council returns to NYC Nov. 11 to mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and the Global War on Terror and the 30th anniversary of Operation Desert Storm. The Parade is the largest Veterans Day event in the country. Find more information as well as a detailed schedule of events here.

Pro Football Hall of Fame

The Pro Football Hall of Fame will host its annual Veteran’s Day event Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The expo will provide veterans with access to local vendors and services. The Hall of Fame will offer free Admission and parking to all U.S. service members, National Guard and veterans plus 1 guest (all day) as well as free admission for Blue Star mothers and Gold Star families. A free commemorative Veterans Day Pin will be available for the first 500 visitors to the Hall (while supplies last). A discount of 20% will be available at the HOF Store. Tomb of the Unknown Public Flower Laying

For the first time in nearly 100 years, and as part of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Centennial Commemoration, the public will be able to walk on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Plaza and lay flowers in front of the Tomb on Nov. 9 and 10. The flower ceremony will start at 8 a.m. Nov. 9 with representatives from the Crow Nation placing flowers at the Tomb. Registration is required at Eventbrite.com. No one will be turned away if they do not have a timed ticket; those without tickets may have a longer wait, however. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own flowers, but complimentary roses, gerbera daisies and sunflowers will be distributed. Learn more about the event.

Vets Town Hall, New York City

Join Vets Town Hall at Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza, 55 Water St, New York, NY on Nov. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. to hear veterans talk about the experience of service. Vets Town Hall is a community forum aiming to increase communication and understanding between local veterans and the community at large. This event is non-political, and all perspectives are valued. There will be no question-and-answer period or debate on American foreign policy. Attendees will simply listen and learn about what it was like to serve in the wars that this nation has chosen to fight. Mark Otto, president and executive director for the United War Veterans Council and two-time combat veteran of the United States Marine Corp will serve as the evening’s emcee and will be joined by a number of veterans who will speak for up to ten minutes about what it was like to serve their country, including: Silver Star recipient Roger Sparks, Founder of Pathfinder Labs; Purple Heart recipient, Elana Duffy, and U.S. Marine Corps (Recon) veteran, Adam Levine. Sebastian Junger, Founder and Director of Vets Town Hall, will also be in attendance, as well as war veteran and entrepreneur, James Hendon. Other attendees include Gold Star spouse Sara Wilkinson, and GORUCK co-founder, Emily McCarthy.

 

 

2020 Veterans Day Events:

MODIFIED/IN PERSON

Austin, TX Veterans Day Parade - In Person

The Austin Veterans Day Parade will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. The event begins at 9:30 am from the Ann Richards / Congress Avenue Bridge and travels up to the Texas State Capitol Building. Viewing is available all along Congress Avenue and the reviewing stand is located at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel at Congress and 7th. Following the parade will be a ceremony at the South steps of the state Capitol at 11 am. Attendees are expected to observe safety precautions. Dallas Veterans Day Parade - In Person

The Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade will take place on Monday, November 11 at 11:00 am in downtown Dallas, TX. More information is available at http://vetsdayindallas.org/plans.htm.

Fort Worth Veterans Day Parade - Modified Event

City of Fort Worth and Tarrant County officials will host a Veterans Day salute in Downtown Fort Worth on Wednesday, November 11. Due to coronavirus restrictions, the modified event is being dubbed a “Memorial Motorcade” by its organizer – the Tarrant County Veterans Council. This year there will be a procession of wheeled vehicles only. Participants should assemble on Panther Island by 10 am. The motorcade will commence at 11 am. Manhattan, Kansas Veterans Day Parade - In Person

The Veterans Day Parade organized by the Flint Hills Veterans Coalition will occur on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 9:30am. The public is invited to view the parade as it travels down Poyntz Avenue from Manhattan Town Center Mall to City Hall. Per local ordinances, observe social distancing and wear masks. Participants are invited to breakfast at the American Legion Pearce-Keller Post No. 17 before the parade, veterans eat free. Following the parade there will be a ceremony honoring Korean War Veterans at City Hall. For more information visit the website.

Navy Memorial - In Person

The United States Navy Memorial will host a Wreath Laying Ceremony to honor and recognize Veterans who have selflessly served their country. This event is free and open to the public. The event will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the US Navy Memorial, located at 701 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington DC. This event takes place outdoors.

Virginia Commonwealth Veterans Day Ceremony – Modified Event

The 64th annual Commonwealth’s Veterans Day Ceremony honoring Virginia’s men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces will be held at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond, 11 a.m. EST, Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Due to current COVID-19 guidelines, attendance at the 2020 Commonwealth’s Veterans Day Ceremony is capped at 250 pre-registered guests. The ceremony will be broadcast live on WTVR-TV CBS6.1 and CBS6.3 in Richmond. It will also be livestreamed on the Facebook page of the Virginia War Memorial, the Facebook pages of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, WTVR CBS6, (Richmond) WTKR News Channel 3 (Norfolk) and other select social media channels.

AARP Documentary and Career Webinar – Virtual

AARP is showing a new documentary spotlighting a service member’s journey to enlist in the military for a third time and complete boot camp 43 years after his first basic training in 1978. At 59 years old, Staff Sgt. Monte Gould finished in the top 10% of his training cycle and is now the oldest individual to complete the current version of basic training. Alexandria, VA Veterans Day Film Festival – Virtual

The Alexandria Film Festival is offering free access to two blocks of films for veterans and service members: Salute to Service Members Showcase I and Salute to Service Members Showcase II. The film festival usually takes place in Alexandria, VA but is virtual this year making online viewing of the films accessible and easy by anyone anywhere in the country. Apple Watch Activity Challenge – Virtual

Apple has scheduled its next Apple Watch Activity Challenge for November 11 in honor of Veterans Day. To complete this challenge, you have to complete a workout that is 11 minutes or longer. You can complete the workout using the Workouts app on Apple Watch or any other app that records workouts to the Health app. Activity Challenges allow Apple Watch users to collect virtual trophies available through the Achievements tab of the Activity app on iOS. There are also special stickers that can be used with Messages and FaceTime.

Chicago Symphony Orchestra Tribute to Veterans - Virtual

John Hagstrom a Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Trumpeter and veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, will host a digital program that celebrates and explores the trumpet's unique role in military and orchestral music. Premiering on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 (Veterans Day), Tribute to Veterans: Trumpeting the Power of Music features live trumpet demonstrations, archival footage and interviews with representatives from “The President's Own” United States Marine Band. DAV’s “The Battle Never Ends” Documentary - Virtual

The documentary “The Battle Never Ends” is scheduled to premiered Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. EST on HISTORY and will air throughout Veterans Day week on Military HISTORY and will be available on demand beginning Nov. 8. Harley Davidson Museum Veterans Day Appreciation - Virtual

The Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, WI, will host a Veterans Day Appreciation day event on Nov. 11, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. & Nov. 12 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. The Harley-Davidson Museum will offer free Museum admission for all active Military, Veterans and their families.* ​​​Learn more about H-D's military involvement during the Military Gallery Talks on November 11th at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and November 12th at 11 a.m., 2:30 and 6 p.m. Receive free admission to the Harley-Davidson Museum by presenting valid identification of service in the US Armed Services (active duty and veterans are welcome!) for the named servicemember, one (1) additional adult and up to four (4) children (under age 18). Indianapolis Veterans Day Parade - Virtual

The Veterans Day Council will present a Veterans Day virtual service and awards ceremony to honor veterans. The virtual service will be live streamed online at 11 a.m. on Veterans Day. Join the service on Nov. 11, 2020 at 11 a.m. by visiting: VeteransDayIndy.org

Library of Congress Veterans History Project – Virtual

The Library of Congress Veterans History Project will host a series of musical performances and discussion panels from November 6 through November 14, 2020. The events will premiere on the Veterans History Project’s Facebook page: facebook.com/vetshistoryproject.

 

National Veterans Memorial and Museum Ceremony – Virtual

The National Veterans Memorial and Museum will host a live online ceremony at 10 a.m. Eastern via Facebook and YouTube. The program includes remarks from TV host and veteran Montel Williams; Army Veteran and President and CEO of Big Lots, Inc. Bruce Thorn; and Army Veteran and NVMM President and CEO Michael Ferriter. National Veterans Memorial and Museum Virtual Walk/Run, Ruck and Heroes Honor Challenge - Virtual

The National Veterans Memorial and Museum vis inviting individuals or teams to run or walk one mile, 5K, five miles or participate in the Ruck and Heroes Honor Challenge from Nov. 1st through the 22nd. Participants may take part in their activity at any time and share on social media: #NVMM, #VETERANSDAY2020. Registrants will receive a race bib, shirt and commemorative medal.

New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation Ceremony - Virtual

The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation will host a Veterans Day virtual ceremony and virtual Wreaths, Roses, and Ribbons donations. The virtual ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 11 at 11 a.m., and will be broadcasted on NJVVMF’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Speakers include New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, State Senator Vin Gopal, New Jersey Assemblyman Gordon Johnson, and Interim Adjutant General Dr. Lisa Hou, among others. The public is invited to contribute a virtual wreath, rose, or ribbon, which can be customized with a color and personal message. Each contribution will be shown during the virtual ceremony with each donor’s name and message.

NEX/MWR Navy Entertainment Virtual Veterans Day Celebration - Virtual

The Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) and MWR Navy Entertainment will present a virtual concert on Wednesday, November 11. The Veterans Day concert series will be premiering live on the @NavyExchange Facebook page, as well as all other military resale social media pages. The Phoenix Veterans Day Parade event on November 11th, 2020 will be virtual for 2020. This year’s virtual celebration, “USA, A Beacon of Liberty” will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. Be sure to check the organizer website for updated information.

PRJKT VET Veterans Bowl Esports Tournament - Virtual

PRJKT VET will host the first annual Veteran’s Bowl Esports Tournament on Veteran’s Day (November 11) live on Twitch. The nationwide Madden tournament, which will run through the Army vs. Navy game on December 12, pits various military branches against one another to bring awareness to mental health challenges affecting veterans and civilians. The tournament is run by Award Pool, an esports tournament management platform. Registration to participate is now available at https://app.awardpool.com/lg/veterans-bowl. Stand Up For Heroes Event – Virtual

The annual Stand Up For Heroes celebration will be virtual this year and held on Wednesday, November 18th at 9:00 PM EST airing on ABC News Live, TikTok, Facebook, Cheddar, Twitch and Armed Forces Network. Hosted by Jon Stewart, SUFH will feature performances by comedians and musicians including Nate Bargatze, Ronny Chieng, Sheryl Crow, Mickey Guyton, Tiffany Haddish, Brad Paisley, Patti Scialfa, Iliza Shlesinger, and Bruce Springsteen, with special guests including Jeannie Gaffigan, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, Ray Romano, and more. Team RWB Veterans Day 2020 WOD for Warriors - Virtual

Team Red, White & Blue! WOD for Warriors is a functional fitness workout, hosted annually on Veterans Day to honor the men and women who have served our country. TrueCar DrivenToDrive Program - Virtual

TrueCar is partnering with AutoNation and DAV (Disabled American Veterans) for its fourth annual DrivenToDrive program to help injured American veterans regain their independence and get back behind the wheel of a car. The program gifts a winner a brand-new vehicle, retrofitted to their needs and disability. The recipient nominees are provided by DAV, and the winner will be selected by TrueCar representatives and DrivenToDrive Ambassador and Army Ranger, Cory Remsburg. U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission November Salute – Virtual

U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission November Salute invites the public to participate in the America 250 November Salute, a month-long celebration of veterans, active duty military and their families. Participants can submit a photo of themselves or their loved ones to an online photo mashup generator, with America 250 branded photo filters. The filtered image will be available for the user to download and display in an online “Gallery of Salutes” for all Americans to see and enjoy. The full Gallery of Salutes will also be available on the America 250 website, www.america250.org.

Varsity Tutors and Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Class – Virtual

Varsity Tutors is partnering with Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum to deliver a free, interactive class for kids. The class, What is a Veteran?, will explore America's tradition of military service through the eyes of the veteran. Students will put themselves in the shoes of Medal of Honor recipient John J. Pinder as they are asked "What Would You Do?" while experiencing his D-Day activities. Students will learn what it means to be a veteran, why Veterans Day matters, and how military honors such as the Medal of Honor are earned and presented. The class will be held November 11, 2020 from 7:00 PM-7:45 PM EST. The free class is 45 minutes long and all ages are welcome. Enroll here.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial - Virtual

VVMF has announced that the 2020 Veterans Day Ceremony at The Wall will be an online ceremony only. The virtual commemoration begins online at 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, November 11th. Visit https://www.vvmf.org/honorservice for more details.

Washington Football Team Salute to Service Month - Virtual

On November 8th at 1:00 p.m. at FedExField, prior to kickoff, the Washington Football Team will present a special military challenge coin, designed and created by USAA, for use in the official coin toss. The franchise will also host a gameday viewing party for the Salute to Service game with the D.C. National Guard at the D.C. Armory with Operation Homefront. On Tuesday, November 10th, Washington Salute will host a virtual tour of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center with Head Coach Ron Rivera and three current Washington Football Team players. The Women of Washington (WoW) and Salute will host a virtual chair yoga session with SweatNGlow and Blue Star Families on November 17th. Washington Salute will team up with the Howard University Reserve Officer Training Corps (representing the U.S. Army & U.S. Air Force) to surprise 5-10 cadets with scholarships on November 30th. Wounded Warrior Project Veterans Day Event – Virtual

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) will host “Honoring Our Warriors,” a virtual Veterans Day event taking place on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 11:30 a.m. EST / 10:30 CST / 8:30 PST on WWP’s Facebook Page and YouTube channel. Former NFL quarterback, ESPN commentator, and ‘Bachelor’ Jesse Palmer will host the event and musician Sara Evans is also joining the program with a special musical performance.
