Big game releases are ramping up as we reach 2022’s halfway point, so clear your calendars and make time for some quality digital entertainment. We picked nine excellent titles to keep your eyes on this month, a selection that features new games and highly anticipated expansions. But before you look forward, let's look back at what you may have missed.

May was light on notable titles, but it saw the release of Sniper Elite 5. Skulking around the battlefield, deftly picking off targets, and using ambient noise and diversions to mask your assault made for an excellent stealth-action game. Trek to Yomi—the Kurosawa-inspired samurai action game with dynamic camera angles, black-and-white visuals, and a classic revenge and redemption plot—also dropped.

The month kicks off with Diablo Immortal for mobile devices and PC. Featuring readjusted gameplay systems and free-to-play monetization, this iteration gives casual and hardcore fans the dungeon crawling, demon-slaying action they crave. June ends in a bang with the release of Sunbreak, Monster Hunter Rise’s big DLC expansion. Sunbreak whisks your hunter away from Kamura village to slay three massive beasts based on classic horror monster tropes. But there's more than enough gaming goodness to enjoy between those major releases.

Read on to see the other console and PC games that June has in store. Afterward, swing by our comment section and tell us what else you’re looking forward to in coming weeks.

Diablo Immortal

  • Platforms: PC, Android, iOS

  • Release Date: June 2, 2022

Blizzard’s iconic, demon-slaying dungeon crawler goes free-to-play with Diablo Immortal. You run through monster-haunted crypts and ruins with your favorite character classes—blasting, hacking, and slashing demonic hordes with the series classic action-focused combat. Immortal tweaks the skills by swapping mana with a cooldown system, but the basic gameplay loop is preserved: accept quests, crush evil.

About Gabriel Zamora

Gabriel Zamora

My Experience

My career has taken me through an eclectic assortment of fields, and connected me with people from all walks of life. This experience includes construction, professional cooking, podcasting, and, of course, writing. I’ve been typing up geeky takes since 2009, ultimately landing a freelancing position at PCMag. This blossomed into a full-time tech analyst position in 2021, where I lend my personal insight on the matters of web hosting, streaming music, mobile apps, and video games.

My Areas of Expertise

The Technology I Use

I test and use the latest Android and iOS devices. I’m currently using an iPhone 13, coupled with the Apple Airpods Max that my brother gifted me for Christmas, for glorious audio.

I always carry my iPad Mini with me. This tablet has been my faithful drawing tool since its release back in 2012, and is the one piece of tech I upgrade frequently. Paired with an inexpensive Wacom Bamboo Duo stylus, I have a compact, reliable, and convenient doodling set to keep me busy during long train and bus commutes across the Big Apple.

During weekends, when I have free time, I swap over to my dedicated drawing display. I use an XP-Pen Artist 22E Pro, which I have owned for a few years now, and thoroughly enjoy. Nothing quite matches the therapeutic power of illustration.

Cooking is my dearest passion next to gaming, and I embrace any tech that makes modern cookery a little easier. I discovered the Paprika Recipe Manager during my cooking stint at Google HQ, and fell in love with its simple, feature-packed tool set. Saving and editing online recipes has never been easier, and having them on my phone is a tremendous convenience.

I own all current generation consoles, and my Nintendo Switch sees the most use. In an age of pretentious, cinematic experiences and heinous monetization schemes, it’s nice to settle down on the couch and enjoy the Switch’s encyclopedic catalog of tried-and-true games. That said, nothing trumps gaming on a PC. While not exactly a powerhouse, my rig delivers exactly what I need it to in this gaming age: 1440p resolution, and 60 frames-per-second (or better) performance.
