"I hired them to repaint my kitchen cabinets. These guys are really good! Very professional and respectful, they did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier with the end result. They also did a great job of cleaning up after themselves and even took it upon themselves to replace a broken shelf pin and the electric outlets to match the color of the paint all without being asked. I can't say enough how impressed I am. Easily the best experience I've had from a contractor for any work."

He even changed the format on his invoice so Seattle city light needed on it. I had all of that paper work ready the very day the job was done. They show up ahead of schedule, work very hard and even finished attic insulation on a 95 degree day in jumpsuits, masks and hoods. They were clean, put tarps and blankets down to protect everything and you wouldn't even know they were there."

Areas Of Expertise: Decks, Roofing
"This job was to renovate my home in preparation to sell it in early March. It consisted of a kitchen and 3 bathroom upgrade, flooring and lighting fixture replacement, painting and removal of 3 popcorn ceilings. Beginning the second week of January, the entire job was completed within 6 weeks. When first hired, the principal of Palm Construction carefully tuned in to my specific needs and targeted timeframe, offering succinct suggestions respects colors, style and quality of products used. Specialists in each trade worked cohesively with each other, as well as alongside other contractors that I had personally hired separately for windows and pool replaster. Although I had intended to live in the property during the renovation, I quickly realized that my occupancy was impeding progress, so I made the decision to vacate the premises. This was especially important during the removal of popcorn ceilings which contained asbestos. The work moved seamlessly from the removal of kitchen counters, sink, cabinet doors, appliances and flooring to the demolition of 3 bathrooms. Timely mutual decisions were made about fixtures, mirrors, flooring, sinks, vanities, paint and hardware, allowing the job to progress steadily to reach very precise goals. Along the way, it was determined that the air ducts needed replacing and AC would be a welcome addition to the total job. These issues were discussed and explained clearly and quoted at a reasonable cost - so I decided to add the change orders. Although I had never been involved with a home renovation in the past, I was very impressed with the patience and care taken to communicate with me throughout the entire job. I was a demanding customer with an expectation of perfectionism and Palm Construction was up for the challenge. Beyond the scope of the original job, Palm went above and beyond with finishing touches and little extras here and there. They've come back to help me even after completion of the job, when I needed some additional retrofits for my appliance installation, which was not even part of the original job. I know that I can count on Palm Construction to be responsive and willing for anything that may come up in the future. I learned that they are a GC that you can totally trust and rely on. In summary, I am in awe of the completed work. My friends and neighbors are astonished with the transformation of my home. The end product is flawless and most impressive. My realtor has already offered Palm Construction opportunities for other jobs. My neighbors have asked for their contact information to get quotes. I highly recommend Palm Construction for your renovation work, whether it is a large or small job. During the 6 weeks of this job, I got to know the principal, Guy Yaakov, and his team. Despite the complexities of the job and the incidental issues that came up, the personal follow-through and attention paid to all questions and requests were taken care of expeditiously and professionally. I couldn't be happier, plus, I made a friend. Thanks, Guy!!!!"

Frequently Asked Questions
What is insulation?

What is insulation?
Insulation is material that provides a barrier within a home’s walls, ceilings, and floors to regulate temperature and noise. If your home gets overly hot in the summer and cold in the winter, it’s likely not insulated properly.
Insulation efficiency is measured by R-value, which determines how resistant different types of insulation are to heat flow (or energy loss). R-values are measured by inch of thickness. The higher the R-value, the better the performance and the higher the price.
How much does insulation cost?
+
How much does insulation cost?
Our project data lists insulation costs between $1,400 and $6,300, but your final price will depend on the type of insulation you choose, its R-value, and how much you need.
- Fiberglass insulation: $0.30 – $1.50
- Blown-in insulation: $1 – $2
- Spray foam insulation: $0.50 – $2
- Radiant insulation: $0.20 – $1
- Rigid board insulation: $0.25 – $1
Luckily, insulation is one of the best investments you can make in your home—it has an ROI of at least 100%, meaning you’ll likely make back what you spend in a few years or so.
What is insulation made of?

What is insulation made of?
Insulation is made of many different materials, which can also impact the R-value needed for energy efficiency.
- Fiberglass: The most common insulation material made from glass. Fiberglass is a skin and lung irritant, so you’ll need to wear gloves and clothing when working with fiberglass insulation.
- Cellulose: Made from recycled paper products, plus borate for fire and insect resistance.
- Foam: Made from polystyrene, polyisocyanurate, or polyurethane plastic. You can also install cement-based foam insulation using rigid foam boards.
- Mineral wool: Made of fire-resistant rock wool, a mix of natural materials, or slag wool, made from a molten metal product.
- Natural fibers: Made from various recycled natural materials, including cotton, sheep’s wool, and straw.
Where is insulation in a house?
+
Where is insulation in a house?
If your attic is unfinished or you’ve ever demolished an interior wall, you might notice batt or spray foam insulation between the studs. Putting insulation between your walls and floors helps keep your home comfortable and your energy costs down. In addition to walls and attics, you can install insulation in your garage, in floors above vented crawl spaces, and basements.
- Garage Insulation: $0.50 to $1.25 per square foot
- Floor and crawl space insulation: $1 to $5 per square foot
- Basement insulation: $1.50 to $2.50 per square foot
- Wall insulation: $1 to $4 per square foot
- Attic insulation: $1,500 to $6,000
- Roof insulation: $1,500 to $4,500 or more
What are the different types of insulation?
+
What are the different types of insulation?
There are a few types of home insulation, and they all are made of different materials— most commonly, fiberglass, cellulose, and foam. Insulation includes these materials in the following forms:
- Loose-fill: Also called “blown-in,” loose-fill is sprayed into wall cavities, attics, and other oddly-shaped areas using special equipment. This insulation is usually made of fiberglass, cellulose, or mineral wool.
- Batts: An affordable insulation blanket best for unfinished spaces, such as between framing, studs, or joists. They come in pre-cut sections suitable for DIY installation and are mostly made from fiberglass, though other versions are also available.
- Rolls: Similar to batt insulation, but comes in rolls. Its make-up leaves less chance for gaps between sections and is more efficient than other types.
- Foam board: One of the most popular insulation types that can be used almost anywhere in your home. Foam boards also have a high R-value.
- Spray foam: Expands and hardens to fill gaps, small and large. Can be closed-cell or open-cell, but closed-cell has a higher R-value, making it more expensive per square foot.
- Radiant barriers: Does not reduce heat flow but directs heat away from the home instead. Radiant barriers are DIY-friendly and affordable, but they won’t be as effective in the winter months.
