Rulemaking Proceedings Under Section 1201 of Title 17

The Copyright Office has concluded the eighth triennial rulemaking proceeding under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”), Title 17, section 1201, of the United States Code. More information is available here.

As in the seventh triennial rulemaking, for the eighth proceeding, the Office employed a streamlined process for renewing existing exemptions. Renewed exemptions remain in force for an additional three-year period (October 2021 – October 2024). For more information, see our tutorials on this page.
