Job Details

The Design School is looking to recruit a Lecturer for the BA Graphic Branding and Identity course.

The course explores the practice of graphic branding, its impact, influence, challenges and ability to shape and question diverse branding identities. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a highly creative approach to develop a broad range of branding projects in an industry context with a particular focus on emerging technologies. The position invites applicants who are interested in facilitating the learning of students that come from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds in the area of branding experience design.

As a lecturer, you will be responsible to the Course Leader for the delivery of varied graphic branding units across the course with a focus on experience design, branding and technology and speculative technological developments for the future of graphic branding. You will manage and participate in the delivery of student-centred teaching as well as make a significant contribution to the development of the course curriculum, assessment, quality management and recruitment.

Your profile

We are looking for an individual with a qualification at undergraduate or postgraduate level relevant to graphic design and branding. You will have knowledge of delivering creative projects in a professional environment and experience in a range of specialist skills in emerging technologies and inclusive teaching. You will also have comprehensive knowledge of learning and teaching international students.

As an academic, previous teaching experience at undergraduate level is essential in addition to experience of professional practice in graphic branding or equivalent. You will also be able to cite examples of the branding industry’s future trajectory and engagement with culturally diverse contexts. You should also demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of graphic branding practice as it intersects with social justice, a climate emergency and other global social, cultural, environmental, political and economic forces that are transforming the design discipline.

The successful candidate should possess effective interpersonal skills and be a student-centred teacher focused on promoting diversity and inclusivity while demonstrating strong communication and organisational skills. We are looking for applicants who can work collaboratively with colleagues to develop the subject area and share expertise.
