Place of death

There seems to be some dispute as to where Hickox died. In an earlier version of the article it was Swansea, that was changed to Cardiff without any reference or comment. However this Reuters news report on Yahoo says it is indeed Swansea. So for the moment I am changing it back to Swansea and adding the reference. – ukexpat (talk) 13:42, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

From the accounts I've seen he felt ill after a recording session in Swansea, was briefly hospitalised, but they couldn't find anything wrong, so he went back to his hotel in Cardiff, and after calling reception was found dead by hotel staff. The Guardian says he was taken ill in Swansea, not specifically that he died there, which would fit with the version of events I outlined above. Of ocurse, I now can't track down where I found that. David Underdown (talk) 17:24, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Number of marriages

All the obits I've seen state he was married twice, but there have been a couple of attempts today by two brand new users to change this (with no source) to state that he was married 3 times. I've reverted this since it was unsourced, and left messages on the user talk pages of those concerned. I understand that it has been held that WP:BLP broadly continues to apply for those who are recently deceased, so it is particualrly important that changes are verifiable, and provide reliable sources for changes. Unfortunately we can't accept information without attribution to a reliable source, and for legal reasons that doubly applies to biographical articles. This isn't meant to imply that you're unreliable, just that the information needs to have been published somewhere in a reputable source before we can include it in an article (see here for the type of sources we can use). I can verify that Richard married Julia Margaret Smith in 1970, at St Paul's Church, Wooburn Green, Buckinghamshire. The late Reverend Sidney Hickox officiated at the Wedding ceremony. They were divorced in 1976. The Marriage and Divorce Certificates can be submitted as evidence if required.Jewellie1 (talk) 22:35, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Documents substantiating RH's first marriage (of three)have been provided to The Guardian. The paper published an on-line correction at the end of the obituary on Friday 10th April 2009. Reference no.11 links directly to this. I have also provided copies to Miranda McLachlan at The Times and am waiting for their correction. Can I now make an edit to reflect this? Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

As far I know Hickox made at least two admirable recordings with the BSO. Would there be room in the article to mention his collaboration with this orchestra? Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 21:28, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
