Investigations Correspondent

Guardian Media Group (GMG) is a leading global media organisation, the publisher of the Guardian, which celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2021, the Observer and theGuardian.com, which attracts over 200 million global unique browsers each month. We are renowned for our ground-breaking independent journalism and our award-winning digital products.

We’re now looking for Investigations correspondents to join our dedicated unit of reporters whose role it is to seek the hardest-to-reach agenda-setting stories. We’re undergoing an exciting period of growth in the team and looking to recruit up to four new correspondents. 

Investigative reporting is in our DNA. Our unique ownership structure allows us to expose wrongdoing and hold power to account with complete independence. Our massive global audience – and reputation for trusted journalism – mean that our stories have real impact. 
 
About the Role

  • Produce high quality investigative journalism across multiple platforms
  • Break stories that have national and international impact
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the investigative team and wider newsroom
  • Work closely with Guardian editors and lawyers to find ways to get legally complex stories over the line

About You

  • Demonstrable experience in investigative journalism (in any form)
  • Experience in a range of advanced investigative techniques
  • Awareness of the demands of digital platforms and print 
  • Strong understanding of important issues affecting the world
  • Shrewd and resourceful; able to think creatively to overcome obstacles
  • Preferable: demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to the role
