Job Details

TPP is delighted to be supporting an award winning mentoring Arts Charity with their search to appoint a new Chair.

The charity helps young people flourish in higher education and the cultural industries. The organisation currently runs mentoring projects in London, Brighton, Manchester, and Merseyside. The charity believes that for our society to be fair and kind, every young person should have the chance to contribute to the culture they live in. Class, ethnicity and disability are still major barriers to young people gaining entry to the creative industries. That's why they're dedicated to levelling the playing field within the arts and humanities: supporting young people who don't have the personal networks and insider knowledge that are vital for getting in.

Since 2013, this mentoring arts charity has opened up hundreds of opportunities across the creative sectors and now supports over 1,300 young people. They do this by providing local mentoring to the young people who need it most; sharing high quality opportunities and experiences in the cultural industries with them; and acting as a trusted and accessible resource to help them to make the right choices about higher education and careers; and influencing "gatekeepers" to address the inequalities that shut out talented voices from UK culture. The opportunity:

After a successful tenure the founding Chair is now moving on and we're looking for a new Chair to join them. They're keen to speak to people who have lived experience. It's important that you understand first-hand the barriers faced by young people from underrepresented backgrounds to forge a career in the arts. You will be a figurehead for the organisation - an inspiration and a role model for the young people they work with.

The Chair should be an influential changemaker and advocate, who can promote their commitment to social justice. You'll use your experience working within the creative and cultural industries to help more young people find their part to play. We're looking for someone who can work effectively alongside the CEO and other Board members to realise their vision. You'll be passionate about supporting young people to realise their potential and creating a creative culture that's inclusive for all.

The Person:

You will bring your leadership experience from the creative arts world. You don't need prior chairing experience, but if you have experience of bringing people together to make change, we'd love to hear about it. We're looking for someone who can work collaboratively with their fellow Trustees; someone who can work effectively alongside the CEO and help him realise the organisation's vision to support a new generation creating an arts industry that represents all.

If you have the skills, experience and determination to help more young people really shine and want to make a lasting difference we want to hear from you!

To apply for this role, please either reply to this advert with an updated version of your CV or contact Lisa Ross or Emma Patmore on [email protected] or 0207 198 6060.

In the first instance you will be sent an information pack with details about the role and recruitment process, and the team are on hand to answers any questions that you may have about the role, so please do get in touch for a confidential discussion.

We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential; please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustment so that we can help with making the application process work for you.
