  • Deck Envy, LLC

"We are so happy that we chose Deck Envy to rebuild a deck for us. Johnny was very personal and professional with his communication from the beginning. We received three quotes from several companies and Deck Envy was the only one that came to our house twice to thoroughly investigate our old deckâ s situation. They made us feel that they cared about doing a responsible job! Then they provided a detailed proposal with competitive estimates. And project manager Ricardo was so knowledgeable about how to build the best deck for us. The building crew leader Lucio and his team did such an amazing job. They were so diligent, fast and detail oriented at the same time. They would clean up every day after work. And they completed the project perfectly and in time. We couldnâ t be happier with our new deck and we would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a new deck or repair. Good job! "

  • Cripps Construction Company

"Shawn and his team did an amazing job replacing a 27 year old roof and correcting design flaws from the original build. He used leftover shingles and materials to redo the roof on my shed so that it would match. I highly recommend Shawn Cripps Construction for all your home maintenance needs!"

  • JK General Contractor, LLC

"I hired JK General Contractor and give it five stars not because it was the lowest price of the three contractors that gave me bids, but because the company has something other companies don't often exhibit: integrity. It also has great customer service and provides a great value for the money. After we signed a contract for a screened-in deck with the company and paid a third of the cost of the deck as a deposit, my husband and I found we needed to cancel the contract because of a major change in plans (a move). We thought that it meant we would lose the deposit. However, JK General Contractor returned our deposit minus the amount that had been spent on designing the deck. We were thrilled. I don't believe the other two contractors that gave us bids would have done so. If we end up staying here after all, we will definitely go back to JK General Contractor, sign the contract again, and have the deck built. When I selected JK General Contractor, I read ALL of the reviews of the three contractors that gave us bids, particularly reading the bad reviews, looking for a pattern among the comments. The reviews for the other contractors led me to believe that either they had financial problems that interfered with on-time delivery if you were among the unlucky few customers or had management problems. None of those problems appeared in the "bad" reviews of JK General Contractor. The materials normally used by JK General Contractor were higher in quality than that used by the other contractors. Looking for the lowest price often, perhaps most often, doesn't get you a quality product and good service. "

  • Deck Buddy, LLC

"They called to give me an ETA and was right on time. They invoiced me once the work was done and took before and after pics of the gutters. Very professional!"

  • Atlas Remodeling Group

"We worked with Jeff Cramer to scope the project. He was excellent to work with: professional, knowledgeable and most helpful in providing advice. The crew, led by Isaac, worked tirelessly and built a beautiful deck with two stair landings, stair handrails and a final landing area. The deck is strongly reinforced with joists 12” apart. All in all working with Jeff and the Atlas crew was a great experience. We highly recommend their service. "

  • L & E Contractor Services

"It was a pleasure hiring Mr. Estevez to remove a small partition wall separating our dining room from our living room. He did a great job with the removal, patching the hole on the adjoining wall, and painting over it. He was even gracious enough to paint the rest of the wall just to make sure everything matches. If you're looking for an all-around Handyman who is honest, affordable, and does excellent work, look no further than Mr. Estevez."

  • Kozan Construction, LLC

"Excellent experience and superb work. We hired them to do a major bathroom project. Price was very reasonable, helped with planning, started right away, and put in the extra hours to see that the job was done right. We would hire them again without a doubt. Thanks again!"

  • Archadeck of Northern Virginia West

"They do very high quality work. We had some supply chain and labor availability issues, but we worked thru them. My wife and I are very pleased with the end product, a three season sunroom. Converted our screened in porch to sunroom."

Many homes come with porches, but many others do not. If you live in your own space, you might find that building a porch can increase the value of your home, give you a relaxing place to hang out, and help you save on energy if it comes with a cover to provide extra shade.

Many steps go into building a porch. The first step is to decide on options and design a plan. One common option you'll need to decide on is the type of flooring. Porches can be built with pressure treated wood, redwood, cedar, resilient vinyl, wood composites, and even brick flooring. After the design is done, a professional contractor can measure out the proper area, develop a foundation to support the base of the porch, and then construct it out of sturdy materials.
