Job Details

Instructor: Biology

The Florida State University seeks an instructor to teach three undergraduate courses in Biology for the Fall 2022 semester and beyond.

The courses are: BSC2010 Biological Science; BSC2010L Biological Science I Lab; and BSC1005 General Biology for Non-Majors

Classes begin the first week of September 2022 and meet once a week for 3 hours. The lecture courses meet thirteen times over the semester. The lab course has twelve class sessions. Classes are held at our London Study Centre.

The BSC2010 Biological Science I plus Lab is the first of two introductory courses required for biology majors designed to build a strong foundation in general biology.

The BSC1005 General Biology for Nonmajors is an academically rigorous course for students majoring in humanities and other non-science subjects in order to fulfil the science requirement of their liberal arts education.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Biology or in a closely related discipline. Previous teaching experience, particularly with US study abroad students, is desirable. All applicants must have the Right to Work in the U.K. If you are not an EU citizen, please address your right to work in your covering letter.

The remuneration will be £3,500 per course for teaching class sessions and associated preparation, marking and student engagement.

The biology department in Tallahassee establishes the framework of the syllabus for these courses but the London instructor has latitude in designing the syllabus and delivering the topics and competencies. We encourage instructors to make use of London’s resources in creating their courses by taking students out during class time to visit academically relevant exhibits and institutions.

More information about our program can be found at our website.

To apply for the position, please send a CV and covering letter to Dr Lisa Bowers Isaacson via the button below. FSU London reserves the right to review applications and hold interviews on a rolling basis. For further information email or call 020 7813 3223.
