AV-TEST Product Review and Certification Report – May-Jun/2020
During May and June 2020 we continuously evaluated 18 endpoint protection products using settings as provided by the vendor. We always used the most current publicly-available version of all products for the testing. They were allowed to update themselves at any time and query their in-the-cloud services. We focused on realistic test scenarios and challenged the products against real-world threats. Products had to demonstrate their capabilities using all components and protection layers.

![Live attack test against ransomware In a test involving real attack scenarios, 26 protection solutions for consumer users and corporate users demonstrate their performance. In the series of Advanced Threat Protection tests, the lab investigates how successfully the products protect against ransomware. Each step of the malware attack is logged and evaluated, right through to an encryption. Many solutions do exactly what they promise: offer protection against ransomware. But not all solutions pass the test with flying colors.](/web/20220707041523im_/https://www.av-test.org/fileadmin/_processed_/5/f/csm_0622_Aufmacher_EPP_b2b047183f.jpg)

![Protection for MacOS Monterey Unfortunately, the invulnerability of MacOS towards malware, such as ransomware and other threats, is and will remain a myth. The laboratory of AV-TEST examined 10 protection packages for consumer users and 4 security solutions for corporate users against new and nefarious malware. It is quickly apparent how effective the protection packages are when dealing with digital attackers. That is why a Mac without an installed protection package is potentially at risk.](/web/20220707041523im_/https://www.av-test.org/fileadmin/_processed_/5/f/csm_0522_Aufmacher_mac_3f9f84a064.jpg)
