So I haven't blogged in awhile. Poker has been ok in spite of Black Friday. I did not play much in April and May but stepped up my play in June and July. Results for April and May: + US$4700 Results for June and July: + US$13000 Not exactly the best results but I haven't been playing too many hands in the past 4 months, so I can't complain. I intend to play a lot more in the coming months and have set myself pretty ambitious goals for the rest of the year. Currently I'm playing 9 tables of 100PLO. I hope to start 12-tabling and move up to 200PLO soon. I am hoping to earn 5bb/100 and play 4 hours a day for the rest of the year. In order to improve, I will try to watch all the cardrunners PLO videos and try to start posting on the PLO forums. I will also try to analyze my hands after sessions, which is the thing I hate to do most. That's all for now and I might post another blog later about what else I have been up to in the past 4 months.

Just gonna be a quick report. I switched to 100nl full ring halfway through the month on the suggestion of a friend. In retrospect, I am probably more of full ring player by nature. I have never in naturally loose and aggressive in poker and fullring will probably suit me better.
March results:
Won 2376usd in cash games.
Rakeback around 580usd.
Won about 500usd in tournaments.
Hands played: 29853
Total winnings for March: 3456usd.
Overall not the best month but it’s better than what happened in February.
I have high hopes for April. My girlfriend is coming back for awhile but other than that, I have no other major commitments for the month and I’m hoping to grind out a bunch of hands.
Target for April:
100000 hands of 100nl fullring on pokerstars or fulltilt rush
$4000 in cash games
$1800 in rakeback
Will also be playing some mtts during the weekends, Hopefully, I can get a positive ROI.
Hope everyone had a good March and here’s to an even better April!
It’s been a tough month. I ran 4.5k usd under expected value(ev). That means when I go all in before the river I’m supposed to win 4.5k more than I actually won. That’s quite unlucky but there are other ways one can get unlucky of course.
Results: -$1464
Rakeback: $1177 (approx since i played other sites)
Overall: -$287
Hands: 28862 (pathetic)
So I lost $287 but that’s pretty good considering I was down almost 4k at 1 point. Because of that, I’m pretty optimistic about March.
Target for March
40000 hands
$5000 including rakeback
That’s a conservative target but since I have decided to cut down on number of hands and considering the month I had, I think it’s more than fair.
After think long and hard, I have decided to scrape my plans of getting SNE. It has been a tough month, running really bad and not playing my best. It got me thinking about whether all this was worth it. The past month and a half, I have placed all my focus on getting vpps. Even though I only play 6 hours a day, I’m mentally drained after every session and can’t do anything else. Because of that, I feel that it is not worth spending an entire year doing just this one thing as there is so much more I want to learn and do.
So new plan for this year:
1. Play fewer tables and have a stricter table selection process. If this means playing across different sites, so be it.
2. Work hard at my game and move up stakes when I’m confident and have enough of a bankroll. Try to play 5/10nl by the end of the year.
3. Start coaching poker. I’m offering free coaching for all my friends. So sms me if interested.
4. Do more work on my investments.
5. Learn golf and get a handicap.
6. Drop to 65kg.
7. Learn a new language and be semi-fluent in it by the end of the year.
I will still be updating this blog about my progress regularly, it just won’t be about SNE anymore. Really hoping to achieve all these goals by the end of the year. So if anyone is interested in a prop bet, send me an sms.
That’s all for now. Good luck at the tables.
Happy chinese new year everyone! Hope everyone has had a great cny. I know I have.
So I’ve been trying out 50bb 1/2 pot-limit omaha(PLO) the past few days. Don’t have the most experience playing PLO but there are plenty of fishes at that limit and the regs are not the best. PLO is similar the holdem. The difference is you get 4 hole cards instead of 2, and you have to use 2 of your hole cards and 3 of the community cards. In holdem, you can use 2, 1 or 0 hole cards. Also, omaha is mostly played with pot limit betting, meaning the most you can bet is the size of the pot at any time, while no limit holdem and fixed limit holdem are more popular.
Well, now to the running like crap part. I’ve run 2.2k under my expected value(ev) this month so far. Feeling quite bad about it but I understand the swingy nature of PLO and hopefully, things will turn around soon.
VPP wise, I only have 8.5k vpps so far this month. Mostly because of the chinese new year celebrations. But the past week has been a ton of fun so no complains here. Well, I’m still confident I can hit my 50vpp target for feb. Will be heading for Canberra tmr and hopefully I can do some serious grinding over there since there is basically nothing else to do in that city.
Good luck at the tables.
January has come to an end. Haven’t grinded much in the past 3 days. Decided to take a break and figure out if I should still go for SNE.
Results
VPPs for January: 71000
Rakeback from vpps: 3976usd
Stellar rewards(bonus cash for hitting milestone number of points): 800usd
WInnings: 3430usd
Total earnings: 8206usd
Not a bad month at all. That is good money but I am aiming for even better results for the rest of the year. Been trying out the 100bb games the past 3 days and i feel quite comfortable playing them. It’s not exactly new for me as it has been my main game before 2010. I won’t be able to play as many tables and probably will have to play longer hours to maintain SNE pace.
Goals for February
I will be targeting only 50k vpps for February. This is due to a number of reasons.
Feb is a short month.
Chinese New Year.
Fewer tables, new game.
WIll be in Australia for most of the month visiting my girlfriend.
Target winnings: 4000usd
Here’s to a great February everyone!!!
So the game that i play has been completely removed by pokerstars. I usually buy in maximum for the 20-50bb games. It is great as most of the fishes play in those games and there is still some poker to be played with 50bb. It is also an easier game to mass table as decisions are easier. All these factors made it the ideal game for me to chase supernova elite.
Now they have added 20bb cap games and removed my game altogether. I will probably go back to the 100bb games, which will make it hard for me to play as many tables, which in turn will hinder my chase for SNE. This is super bad news and I will have to ponder over my next move. On the one hand, playing the 100bb games will help me become a better poker player, which is one of my goals. On the other hand, my 2011 goal of achieving SNE will be in jeopardy.
Well, such is life. Will just have to try and adapt to the changes.
Hi all. Week 2 has been swingy but I think I’m finally in the black for the year. Hopefully things will start getting better. Volume wise, I’ve been starting to get tired earlier and earlier into my sessions. This is a bad sign and my old bad habits are starting to creep back in. However, I’ve been playing some full ring fixed limit tables at night to make sure I get the required vpps. Hopefully I can keep this up because I’m already starting to feel burned out.
For the next week, I’ll have my work cut out for me as I’ll be overseas during the weekend and won’t be able to play, so I will have to play longer sessions during the weekdays. Anyway, I have added a widget to keep track of the number of vpps I have earned to date and I’ll be updating it at the end of everyday.
Well, week 1 has given me mixed results. Started the year badly and lost 1.8k within the 1st 2 days. Thankfully, I managed to power through and now I think I have almost broken even. Not exactly sure how much I’m up or down. For my sanity’s sake I do not look at my cashier until the end of the month. I will post graphs and results at the end of the month.
The good news is i have earned 27k vpps in the 1st 8 days of the year. This means I’m on pace for a 100k vpp month which will give me a really good start to the year.
This will help as I will be going to Australia for a month in Feb to visit my girlfriend. This will affect my grind as I will have to cascade or stack my tables on a smaller monitor when I’m over there instead of my usual tiling and that will take some time to get used to.
That’s all for now. Good luck at the tables.
Day 1 did not go very well. Lost 900 bucks and just did not play or run very well.
I did manage to hit my daily target 4000vpps. So there’s still plenty to be upbeat about. Hopefully day 2 will be better.
I’ll try to blog at least twice a week to keep this blog up to date.
