@Naleksuh I don't think I can assist with this issue, but as info, the Wikimedia Discord has not been deleted. Not sure where you got that. See WP:Discord. For your specific issue I recommend contacting Arbcom and submitting your private evidence. -- ferret (talk) 21:31, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I would have preffered a private answer but it looks like this public reply has not revealed too much information. Also, yes, I made a mistake in incorrectly implying the Discord server was deleted, what I meant to say was that my Discord account has been deleted, this took place on September 23rd 2021. I will see about contacting ArbCom. Naleksuh (talk) 23:28, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted Edits of the Black Ops wiki article 2[edit]

Hello Ferret, I appreciate that you are taking interest in the edits I am making towards the Black Ops wiki article. I've noticed the information regarding the ascension subtopic for the Zombies section has been deleted by you. I have been trying to add more information towards the two maps that were originally added before I made any edits to this article. And as for the source coverage being broad, you are right in mentioning this, but I've found better sources that are officially mentioned by the creators of the map and an organization that covers the map extensively. Here they are, Ascension Trailer https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=call+of+duty+black+ops+ascension&&view=detail&mid=B5382F163A0477CBE439B5382F163A0477CBE439&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=%2Fvideos%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dcall%2Bof%2Bduty%2Bblack%2Bops%2Bascension%26FORM%3DHDRSC4

IGN Ascension overview https://www.ign.com/wikis/call-of-duty-black-ops/Ascension

Official Activision webpage https://www.activision.com/games/call-of-duty/call-of-duty-black-ops

I hope these number of sources is good enough to revert the deletion you have made and that I can continue adding more information under the zombies' main section in the hopes of enhancing the article.

Thank you for reading, NateRob25

@NateRob25: These are not sources that can be used to present this content in heavy detail. The bing search to the trailer isn't suitable, but even then, the trailer is a WP:Primary source. Primary sources are ok for proving basic facts, but they aren't any good for determining if we should cover detail at all. Is Ascension having this level of detail important to an encyclopedia? We determine whether something has due weight to be included through coverage by reliable WP:Secondary sources. IGN, normally a reliable secondary source, in this case is that Wiki, which is unreliable, per WP:USERG. And of course, the official website is a primary source. In the context of the overall games, in-depth detail about every DLC map is unnecessary. This sort of content belongs better on Fandom/Wikia/Gamepedia. WP:VGSCOPE has further information on the kinds of things we include or exclude for video games. -- ferret (talk) 16:09, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@NateRob25: I strongly recommend you read up about sourcing on Wikipedia, at WP:RS in particular. You should also read the WP:VG project's sourcing page, WP:VG/S. -- ferret (talk) 16:15, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Ferret, I don't believe the information I had provided for the Ascension subtopic is extensive or heavy in detail. It was a small section that is very similar in length with the other map subtopics that are still on the webpage. And as for the sources not being suitable or appropriate for the information provided in the article, I would have to disagree with you as the information in the sources help verify the information I have added towards this wiki article. If anyone questions anything I have added towards the ascension subtopic, then they can check for themselves by clicking on the verified sources on Ascension. Lastly, for the whole purpose of adding Ascension in this wiki article, I believe it is essential to build on what the previous editors have made towards the zombies section of this article. Before I made any edits, there were two maps in the zombies section, Kino der Toten and Five. If these maps are essential to keep in this article, then future maps that build upon Kino and Five should be included as well. NateRob25 (talk) 16:49, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm actually pondering deleting the other map sections, or significantly trimming them. Especially the mention of easter egg songs which is trivial we would normally exclude. They are unsourced with no reliable secondary coverage currently, and it's unnecessary for the gameplay section to do more than mention them. Half of the content repeats information from the plot as well, making it redundant. Please understand, I'm well versed on sourcing and our requirements for it. And it's very critical we use good reliable secondary sourcing, not corporate webpages and marketing sites. Not all articles are in the greatest shape, and sometimes building on what's already there actually takes the article further from what would be seen as quality article on Wikipedia. For specific Manual of Style information on video games, you can check out MOS:VG. -- ferret (talk) 16:52, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright release by Taiwan News on Anonymous articles[edit]

Hello there. It has been days since I sought help from WP:DISCORD regarding the passages from Taiwan News on Anonymous articles. I have contacted the author responsible for the cited news articles and secured a copyright release of those under CC-BY-SA 3.0 licenses. As Discord has locked me out of my account with the nasty phone verification screen, I couldn't go in there and inform the friends there of this development and to thank them for the help.23.234.252.225 (talk) 21:32, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Very interesting! It's also neat when we're able to secure releases for text and images. -- ferret (talk) 21:51, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just some questions, after the copyright release request has concluded it would be logical that the contents can be restored, right? Would putting the VRT ticket number in edit summaries be enough just to remind the copypatrollers of the copyright release?
Correct, this is just like a deus ex machina, but there should be a tool that lets editors to submit to the comparison engine used by copypatrollers and see the scores themselves, which would then allow the fine-tuning passages to avoid close-paraphrasing and copyvio. If it's not in Toolforge, this is the best time to submit it as feature suggestions to the development team. Furthermore, the guidebook of the copypatrol tool needs to be updated so as to warn the operators more on WP:LIMITED situations such as presence of Scènes à faire jargons and expressions like "nuclear power plants", "satellites", "a referendum on the status of such territories", "memes showing characters wearing a Guy Fawkes mask" and so on, which would inevitably inflate the Turnitin score and cause a false positive embarrassment.
Ultimately I feel that it represented a substantiation of warnings by the likes of EFF and Cory Doctorow that copyright maximalism in general has implications on basic freedom of expressions. If the SMART Copyright Act gets on the Senate floor, Wikipedia should enter into a state of sitewide blackout just as happened with SOPA.
Here's hoping ya'll have a nice day. Good night.23.234.252.225 (talk) 22:11, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Copyright is not my primary area of work. As the revdel's were performed by Diannaa, I would inform her that permission has been attained and give her the VRT ticket number, and ask how to proceed. Wikipedia has little choice but to adhere to US laws, being based in and hosted in the US. We have to take it seriously, not because we love copyrights, but because there's legal ramifications. -- ferret (talk) 22:21, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

23.234.252.225 has given you a cookie! Cookies promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a cookie, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.
It finally happened. Once more thanks for all the help from you and the friends at Discord though. Just for record purposes I will forward all my correspondences with the author to the VRT ticket number before moving on, partly because I don't really check email often normally and the email provider that I use right now has instated a new policy to delete accounts which are inactive for more than a year. Hi[edit]

Hello, it's been a while. How are you? Also, please can you delete User:L10nM4st3r/common.css as I don't need it. Thanks. -- L10nM4st3r (talk) 10:09, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
