These guys are the ultimate in customer service. I've called no less than 17 companies to fix my gas fireplace insert. Two companies made me wait weeks for an appointment, but couldn't fix it. One showed up, diagnosed something that I needed to follow-up on with the manufacturer or it would cost me $1500. Others didn't answer the phone, which is fine, but it was annoying that I sometimes waited a full day before getting a return call. These guys answered the phone and asked questions no one else asked. And when I asked for a repair as soon as possible they told me and quot;of course, if we can't get one of our full-time guys there within 24 hours we will find someone who can be there for you.and quot; And they did just that. Later I received a call back, set an appointment, and fixed my fireplace. Turned out it was about 3 different things. Nice work guys. And thank you so much for your quick repair.

The Irish Sweep
I have had 3 vendors look at our chimney. The first came to sweep it and then wouldn't sign off on it saying that the mortar in the firebox needed repair. It took us a year to get around to calling another chimney/masonry vendor. That one quoted us $3000 saying the inside and outside needed repointing. $3000 is a lot and requires a second quote. So we call up another vendor who does come to the East Bay and they recommended the Irish Sweep. I called them and Sally and Manny came out within the week. Sally inspected the firebox and then went outside and inspected the chimney. Manny went up on a ladder and found a gap between the chimney and the house where water had been coming in. After looking at everything, she said that the bricks did not need repointing and were in fact in very good condition for their age. The only repair needed was where the gap was and to create an angle where the chimney and the exterior firebox met so water didn't accumulate. They came back in a few days and made the repair. They were great!!!

I was so impressed with this company. It took Mike a lot of time and effort to come out to fix the gas log connection that had not been repaired in the earlier visit. He took time to thoroughly analyze the problem and determine the necessary repair. He went out to the local hardware store, got the part he needed, and fixed the log set. It now works perfectly. Mike was friendly, very professional and apologetic for the misunderstanding that had occurred earlier. I would not hesitate to use Valley Heating and Plumbing anytime again if I had a problem with any of the heating or plumbing issues in my home. How they dealt with this situation went way above what I expected and the results are excellent. I want to apologize for the earlier negative review and thank Mike for his excellent service. A plus!

The person who came to give the quote was very professional, but, he also had a lot of pride and integrity in what he does. He was very clear about explaining everything that has to be done and why it needs to be done. I also had some extra masonry work to be done which they did to make the place look nice and they did a really nice job on that. After the work was finished, the owner came out to check the work. He did not allow us to pay, until he had checked all the work. He also found and fixed a few things. He was great; the company was great and the people who worked there were great. I felt the price was reasonable.

I am super pleased with Jones Masonry! They did a spectacular job of repairing leaks near my two chimneys on a 1930s home. This home is so old, the gutters are made of redwood, no kidding. They were able to fix some significant cracks in my stucco at the same time, and replace one of my spark arrestors. I got a complete estimate on the sport with the inspection. On the day of repairs, they were on time (early, but waited before ringing my bell, thanks!) got it done quickly and showed me in detail what they had done. I am very happy with them and highly recommend them to others.

arrived on time and worked quickly. very tidy found some problems during the inspection, which needed to be fixed in a subsequent visit their report notes weren't totally clear, so the owner Adam had to rely on my description of the repairs needed to give me an accurate quote. We are scheduling the repairs this year (didn't use chimney much, and needed to save $$), and Adam has offered a follow-up visit for free to clarify the previous inspection and make sure his bid was accurate.

After 3 cancellations and a no show that kept me waiting in all day, this company were extremely disorganized and unhelpful. I left a multitude of voice mails and emails for the manager and they claimed a service engineer came although nothing was fixed and there was no sign that he was even there. I am currently in dispute with them over a $380 invoice they sent me after not calling me or emailing back. It was a horrible, frustrating experience. They have numerous 1 star reviews on yelp in the last 6 months concerning this same issue.

Initially declined. I convinced them to come take a look. The tech was very friendly and helpful, did the sweep efficiently and cleanly, and performed inspection. He said the rust was no problem and I could leave it like that. I did need a new chimney cap. We discussed what cap would be appropriate and they seemed willing to ignore the code requirements where I live. I think he would have been willing to leave the old cap and do nothing, but I sort of insisted that it should be fixed. It was suggested to have their office order it. Their office never called me back. I called them and they indicated they weren't capable of ordering the cap. I ordered it myself from online. When it came I called them to come install. The install job took < 15 minutes, drop the cap on and put some sealant. After they left I noticed the cap is a bit crooked with respect to the pipe. Functionally fine I assume, but aesthetically not great. Summary: Simple job like 'sweep' they were efficient. More non-standard like 'inspect and repair' I had some hassle to get them to do the job. But to be fair I called 10 other companies and none others would show up (or in one prior case had done it wrong), so while I would normally not be that happy, I do now have a functional wood stove with a legal cap, and I have at least one professionals opinion I dont need to fix the rust.

Billy Sweet Chimney Sweep
THE WORK WAS NOT DONE SAFELY OR CORRECTLY. THEY MIS-INSTALLED THE LINER AND BLOCKED THE CHIMNEY. WHEN WE LIT A FIRE AFTER THEIR REPAIR, THE SMOKE POURED INTO THE HOUSE FROM BEHIND THE WALL. WE WERE VERY LUCKY THEIR WORK DID NOT RESULT IN A HOUSE FIRE! BILLY SWEET NEVER RESPONDED TO MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS OR LETTERS AFTERWARD, ASKING THEM TO COME BACK AND FIX THE CHIMNEY OR GIVE US A REFUND. WE HAD TO PAY ANOTHER COMPANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO COME OUT AND REDO THEIR WORK. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE AND MOST DANGEROUS WORK OF ANY CONTRACTOR WE HAVE EVER HIRED.
