Saying hi and seeking help again[edit]

Hi, how have you been lately? I hope all is well. Could you please add some entries to the List of fugitives from justice who are no longer sought article that I have broken of from the List of fugitives from justice who disappeared? If so I will give you the entries who need adding. I have been doing a lot of editing lately and could really use some help. And I truly mean it when I tell you that your help is MUCH APPRECIATED! Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open[edit]

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 02:03, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: MJ (Marvel Cinematic Universe)[edit]

I could use some c/es on this if necessary. Also how ready do you think it is? Jhenderson 777 02:28, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Jhenderson777: I think it looks very very good. But maybe there could be something added about the initial confusion some viewers felt when she was first introduced, if she was supposed to be Mary Jane or not. I remember that being talked about a fair bit before Homecoming came out.★Trekker (talk) 12:57, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I will go ahead and add casting controversy. There is one source that's already on there about it. Jhenderson 777 14:04, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It is done. An casting controversy section. Jhenderson 777 16:00, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dasha Nekrasova[edit]

Hi you saved this page previously from being trolled with bad faith nominations, see the history of nominations for deletion for both this page and Red Scare (podcast). I think a previously blocked user has tried submitting it for deletion again under a different name but they've messed up the formatting, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dasha Nekrasova (3rd nomination). Can we get a speedy keep on this one too, or at least get the formatting fixed so more people can vote on it? I can't figure out what they've done. Thank you!Pinchofhope (talk) 07:02, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Milhist coordinator election voting has commenced[edit]

Mission Impossible "Impossible"[edit]

@*Treker:

Dear Sir. I am not interested in breaking anything, however there are some blatant errors on the Mission Impossible Franchise Page more specifically in the Cast Table, which was recently added there by an anonymous source.

For instance, it says that the character Eugene Kittridge played by Henry Czerny was "Mentioned" In "Mission Impossible 2" when the events of Mission Impossible 1 were vaguely mentioned at all (Basically he's not mentioned.) And that Julia Meade portrayed by Michelle Monaghan was "Mentioned" In Mission Impossible Rogue Nation when one of the biggest mysteries of the movie is her missing presence (She is not mentioned at all)

It also mentions a TBA or to be announced, For Alec Baldwins Character Alan Hunley and Henry Cavill as August Walker/John Lark for Mission Impossible 7 when both those characters were killed in Mission Impossible 6 "Fallout".

I'll admit to being over anxious about editing that section as I don't know how to properly edit something that complex yet, but the inconsistency must be corrected.

No Disrespect intended.

Maxcardun (talk) 9:17, 22 September 2020 (UTC)

@*Treker:

Dear Sir it's been two months and we still have that error on the Mission Impossible page. Eugine Kittridge is not mentioned in Mission Impossible 2, Julia Meade is not mentioned in Mission Impossible Rogue Nation, and Alec Baldwin and Henry Cavill's characters were killed off in Mission Impossible Fallout. Since Mission Impossible is not a comic book series where people don't get resurrected in the next movie or so we can come to the logical conclusion that Alec Baldwin and Henry Cavill are not coming back for Mission Impossible 7 & 8 so since I cannot edit a table without "breaking it" may you kindly fix the grievous error that you said you would try to fix, or would you mind if I tried again? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mission:_Impossible

Maxcardun (talk) 12:33, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@*Treker: Thank you sir, I appreciate your attention toward that article. Do you think you can do the same thing with the "Mission Impossible Film Series" Page? It has the same issue I think. Maxcardun (talk) 12:32, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting assistance[edit]

Hi *Treker,

I'm writing to you because you are listed as a member of the Wikiproject Pro Wrestling, and I'm in need of third (actually fourth) opinions.

The thing is, Hartley Jackson recently went through an AfD that arose a lengthy of discussion.
I will try to summarize the problem below.

Jammo85 had asked me for assistance in find sources to a certain fact, and I did find some good sources, but we are still facing opposition from another user in Hartley Jackson and The Mighty Don't Kneel (TMDK).
I would thus like to ask your opinion on the matter.

We would like to state "Hartley Jackson was part of The Mighty Don't Kneel in 2015 and 2016."

I have found two sources from websites of official pro wrestling events (they are archived, please give it a few minutes to load):

and Hartley appears on the TMDK side on both.

Also, there is also a listing of his appearances as TMDK here, which corroborates the above:

but this website is listed in one unofficial list of reliable sources as being Marginally reliable. Strictly used for match results and not other information. Takes user submissions but is reviewed by regional editors that verify all submissions before they are added to the database. The other party uses this against us, but I actually think it supports us, as we are actually only using results here. That is, we are not using the blog posts produced in cagematch (see [5]).

I thought the above sources were enough, but there are some more if you would like to see:[1][2][3].

  1. ^ Wrestle rampage's official ad on social media [1].
  2. ^ Greer, Jamie (2020-05-05). "The Mighty, Too: Shane Thorne & Brendan Vink Continue TMDK Legacy". Last Word on Pro Wrestling. Retrieved 2020-09-26.
  3. ^ Other sources on this piece of information are: [2], which is an article from a podcast on wrestling, which mentions Hartley as being part of TMDK; and also [3] [4], which are official match advertisements from Wrestling Rampage, and show Hartley in the TMDK team. All links were accessed on October 7, 2020.

Can I have your opinion on this?

Hello and thanks[edit]

  • Treker,

Hello! Thanks for your edit on the Ron Diamond page. I'm slowly getting to it all; working on the Filmography table now. Just curious how you came across it? Also, would you be willing to look at another page for me? Katherine311MH (talk) 21:10, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Katherine311MH: I found the page while looking for drafts which linked to Pixar so I could categorize them correctly. I have no problem with looking at another page if you want me to.★Trekker (talk) 21:14, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Doubts about recently categorized userspace drafts[edit]

Hello, *Treker. Thanks for contributing one of my subpages I have created on October 15, 2020 at 17:20 (19:20 CEST), I thought userspace drafts haven't to be categorized. But as I have seen that you added the appropriate categories, I have learned that draft-like subpages can be treated as regular drafts. In brief, I would love to see my userspace draft will end up submitted to the article namespace in the future. And I have a question, can I add draft categories in my userspace draft? - André the Android (talk) 19:27, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@André the Android: Yes as far as I know its fine to have draft categories in userpages, as long as you're ok with other people editing them, otherwise it may be best to remove them. I was on a big mood to categorize drafts a few days ago, my bad if you did not wish to have your userpage categorized, I must have mistaken it for a regular draft.★Trekker (talk) 19:40, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@*Treker: It doesn't matter, I was initially surprised by that, but in the end I am glad that my userspace draft is notable enough to be included in the Draft namespace so that it will be in the mainspace someday. And thanks for answering my question! - André the Android (talk) 20:10, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay --Ryanvanmatre80 (talk) 13:14, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Considering retirement[edit]

Hi, I hope all is well. I have been through some very unpleasent, surprising, and abrupt times as of late. I may not to be able to continue editing much longer for multiple reasons and may soon de-activate my account, thought I might return at a later date. I would like to stay in touch with you through some method, so if you are OK with that and know of one please let me know. Davidgoodheart (talk) 02:04, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Davidgoodheart: That would be lovely David, but I'm very saddened that you may need to leave. I hope whatever your issues are they resolve soon. I have my email account connected to this account, so feel free to email me anytime.★Trekker (talk) 11:35, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your kind words. My possible retirement also has to do with issues that I am having on Wikipedia. Some include how I was upset about Ad Orientem retiring and I do miss him. Also when Akld Guy just disappeared without any trace that also upset me as he was a great editor. I never found out what happened to him as well and I really hope that all is well with him and I miss him also. I also consider you to be a great editor and think it's very impressive that even though you are from Sweden how well you speak English! I was never much good at learning other languages, so your better than me on that issue. I would like to ask you a few questions regarding some wiki articles that I made, would that be OK with you? Davidgoodheart (talk) 07:40, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: I'm very flattered by your comments David. And you're free to ask me anything.★Trekker (talk) 10:03, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK great! Regarding one of my best creations that I am very proud of that being Disappearance of Tiffany Sessions, do you think that serial-killer Paul Rowles killed her? The four psychics who I asked said YES he did. He was a very sick and deranged man and I think that there is PROOF that he did as well. Davidgoodheart (talk) 10:16, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: It seems very plausible based on the information given in the article. Sadly since he is dead already there is no way for her family to get justice by a new conviction. Very tragic.★Trekker (talk) 10:27, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I can say for sure that Michael Christopher Knickerbocker who is also a serial-killer definitely didn't do it, as he wasn't even living in Gainesville, Florida at the time when Sessions disappeared. He just claimed he did as he bluffing to his prison inmates to boast himself up. What are your thoughts about this? Davidgoodheart (talk) 10:50, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: Yeah that seems rather likely.★Trekker (talk) 13:33, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Another reason that I am consider retirement is that I just can't do all this editing by myself. Often when I asked for help with adding entries to lists I received very little help. You are one of the few people who did help me with this. Davidgoodheart (talk) 15:20, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: Sorry I couldn't help out more, I'm very busy too a lot here. If you feel like you need a break/retire make sure to take good care of yourself.★Trekker (talk) 15:31, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If I make some private wikis some of that I WON'T publish on line due to the fact that I been told many times how risky this may be, would you like to view them? I will be much easier to make private wikis than public ones. I would like to be able to share them with some other my fellow editors who would include you. Davidgoodheart (talk) 16:27, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: I'd love that.★Trekker (talk) 16:44, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am very thankful that you are willing to show an interest in what I do! By the way I remember when I created the Wilda Benoit article and it was deleted for not being a notable disappearance, which is mostly likely true. Here is the link to the video showing that she was the first person shown in the video runaway train: Soul Asylum Runaway Train. I just thought I would share this with you since you like the song, don't you? Davidgoodheart (talk) 10:50, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: Yes its a very good song.★Trekker (talk) 11:37, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A have a question regarding the professional wrestling jobbers category that I created that is regarding that you voted to have it deleted at the first CFD, but at the second CFD you voted to keep it. What made you vote differently the second time? Davidgoodheart (talk) 05:06, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: I honestly can't recall what prompted my change in perspective.★Trekker (talk) 10:06, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Do you like this song? Adler song Dead Wrong One of the reasons that I like it is because it reminds me of when people told me things that they thought were true, but instead I found out the real truth behind the matter. If you haven't yet heard it please listen to it and let me know if you like it or not. Davidgoodheart (talk) 23:17, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: I had not heard the song before now. I liked it, I've added it to my playlist.★Trekker (talk) 23:37, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You and I seem to have the same tastes in music. Do you like Red Hot Chili Peppers? I really like them a lot. Davidgoodheart (talk) 01:53, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: I like them too. But my favorite artists are Eminem, Michael Jackson and Rammstein.★Trekker (talk) 13:10, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I was able to get some computer help today and was shown some information about how to create private wikis, which is something that I am very eager to learn how to do. I now know this is something that may take some time before before I am able to do this easily and correctly. Also about the fact that you like Michael Jackson, I like Michael and Janet Jackson's song "Scream" as they wrote it together and preformed it very well. Davidgoodheart (talk) 22:03, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: There is no hurry David :), make sure to show me when you've created your Wikis.★Trekker (talk) 09:25, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I really mean that. Davidgoodheart (talk) 22:38, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I know you like the Lord Of The Rings trilogy and so do I as well as the Hobbit trilogy. But don't you find those giant spiders in them REALLY scary, I know I do! Davidgoodheart (talk) 19:48, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Trekker, how is everything? I have been having my ups and downs, that's for sure. Davidgoodheart (talk) 11:01, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: Things are mostly fine for me, how are you doing? What kinds of ups and downs have you been having?★Trekker (talk) 19:57, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I will let you know soon, for now please check these articles out Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/EyeMan and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arthur Harvey. Davidgoodheart (talk) 02:05, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: I'm a little unsure about those two.★Trekker (talk) 02:23, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Trekker, how is everything with you? I remember telling you that I have been having both my ups and downs, well here are just some of them: 1. Someone who I know has Cornona so I have been told to stay home for 14 days. 2. A stranger spoke to me in the most despicable shocking way that I just can't believe before Christmas. Some good thinks are: 1. I might have some people to hang out with soon, as I haven't been able to see people almost at all due to people being unavailable and have to stay in isolation. 2. Staying for for a few days will give to time to work on things that are productive as well. 3. I probably won't need to retire from editing as my fears of certain dangers have been lifted. Also I remember you said you were really trying hard to be nice to me and I would like thank you, as others don't often seem to care how rude they are or if they hurt people, which something that I just can't seem to understand. Davidgoodheart (talk) 09:37, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@*Treker: Hi, regarding Michael Christopher Knickerbocker: A fifth psychic who I recently visited also agreed with me that Paul Rowles DID kill Tiffany Sessions said that the reason Michael Christopher Knickerbocker gloated that he killed Sessions is because the man is a "narcissist" who likes to gloat about things even if he didn't do them. Re: Vistilia[edit]

Sorry, I meant to drop you a note sooner about this, but I got distracted by trying to untangle the mess you stumbled over. Here are the highlights:

  1. the Vistilia page was renamed to Vistilia gens -- where it should have been in the first place;
  2. the two Vistiliae IMHO should be in the same article because there is a chance the younger is a doublet of the older, but Vistilia (prostitute) which you split off still exists (you may be right about splitting the two);
  3. at some point someone confused Avidia, daughter of C. Avidius Nigrinus (cos. 110) & his anonymous first wife, with Avidia Plautia, daughter of C. Avidius Nigrinus & his second wife Plautia Ignota;
  4. I wish you had contacted me about this back in August, & we could have fixed it then;
  5. the Wikipedia family tree of the Antonines is a mess, perpetuating this confusion & at least one more error I know of, however the syntax of that family tree is a pain to alter;
  6. you noticed the confusion & tried to correct it one way, & I'm trying to sort this matter out;
  7. I could resolve the confusion faster if someone could check on the citation to Levick (2014), p. 164 to see if she confuses the two (she's a good source, so I suspect someone read her book wrong) -- but the public libraries are closed & I'd rather not buy the book, which is listed at Amazon for $80.--;
  8. and, lastly, the best way to resolve this permanently may be to start an RfC, & get all of the WikiProject Classical Greece & Rome involved. But I can't start on that until I get all of the facts straight.
    P.S., do have other, non-Wiki demands on my time, so I may not get all of this done in time. But feel free to poke me if I don't make progress for a week or two. -- llywrch (talk) 23:40, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

bibliography section of Trumpism article[edit]

Did you have a reason for reformatting the bibliographic section to a non standard width? The only reason the Notes section has a narrow width is that most notations are very short. J JMesserly (talk) 01:16, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@J JMesserly: Using 30em for sources/bibliography sections is the standard on most pages as far as I've seen.★Trekker (talk) 01:47, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I stand corrected. Thanks. I will put it back to reflect your change. J JMesserly (talk) 21:07, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message[edit]

Scale of justice 2.svgHello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:48, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tip[edit]

If you just moved a page and wish to delete the outstanding redirect, as you tried to do with Antonia wife of Pythodoros, you can just use Template:db-g7 on the corresponding editspace and wait a few minutes, rather than submitting it for discussion. This works even if a past request for deletion was rejected. Avilich (talk) 23:57, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Its more than something that is worthless[edit]

So, I know that back in October, you strongly opposed keeping the List of fictional vegetarian characters page, saying it "even more worthless than a list of actual people who are vegetarians" and stated that its "not a good thing to list people based on their diet in my opinion," and claimed that it is "not a defining feature of pretty much any actual person or character." While I still disagree with you on all that and will continue to do so, your suggestion of a page titled Vegetarianism in fiction was not a bad one, and I created a page titled Vegetarian characters in fiction today, at long last, after working on it off and on since that AfD ended. So, I just thought I'd share that. Of course, I stand by the position that the new page I have AND the list are acceptable, as they both support one another.--Historyday01 (talk) 03:54, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An olive branch for you[edit]

Olive branch drawing.svg

And season's greetings. Since you were kind enough to wish me a happy holiday, I feel it's only fair to return the sentiment, and extend an olive branch in the spirit of collaboration. I know that you're working hard to improve the encyclopedia, even if we sometimes disagree on how best to do that. Here's hoping that we find a way to work together more coöperatively from this point forward. In the best tradition of the season, I promise to be more open to suggestions from you and from other editors, and hope you'll join with me in the spirit of friendship. Question on Reverts[edit]

Hey Trekker, thanks for the note. I'm looking for a little more feedback. Wikipedia has so much emphasis on notability, yet you reverted my proposed edits. Is it because my account is new? The articles I edited did not have verifiable, or notable sources.

Hi @Megtetg34:. I reverted you because it seemed odd to me that a new user would only make edits to PROD articles. Several of the pages also had references from reliable sources such as Bloody Disgusting and Dread Central.★Trekker (talk) 16:53, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @*Treker:. Ok. I started by looking at stubs to get started, and those jumped out at me as not being notable so I made PROD suggestions. One article, Creepy Company is written like promotional content. I don't think that 11 articles in 3 publications constitutes "significant coverage" when the articles aren't even articles. They are gift guides. Fright Rags and Cavity Colors was the same thing. The articles aren't about the subjects. The sources are promotional content, i.e. gift guides. Condom World has no verifiable sources at all.
That is a fair perspective @Megtetg34:. I would recommend that you nominate the pages for Deletion to get input from more people.★Trekker (talk) 17:14, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@*Treker: Thanks Trekker. I am also going to review your note for to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. Thanks for your feedback.

Hello, Treker. How are you? I hope you're fine. I'm gonna start a discussion on the talk page, but maybe you can help me. Yesterday, Gabbi Tuft came out as a trans woman. Newb editor with one question: "What's with all the hate for Scooby-Doo! and the Spooky Scarecrow?"[edit]

Hello,

I was looking over the list of Scooby-Doo specials, shorts, etc and noticed that Scooby-Doo! and the Spooky Scarecrow was the only one that didn't have a page. I never edited or contributed to Wikipedia before so I thought I'd give it a go. Spent a while on a page, modeled it after the other pages, and submitted it only to find it deleted shortly thereafter stating there wasn't enough references.

Aggravated but realizing I'm new to this and that older editors probably get tired of correcting people like me I press on. I spend a couple of hours adding references and further enhance the page before submitting again. It gets quickly deleted again citing that it's "Not enough in-depth sourcing to show notability."

Now this is just silly. It's as notable as any other special that has a full page. Hell, if that was the case about half the pages on Wikipedia should be deleted as they have less info or info that can easily be found else where as the page I submitted.

That's when I see there's a history for the page (something I should have probably checked before working on it) where you crafted a much better page than what I had and it still got deleted.

So what's the deal? Why do people have it out for THIS ONE special? Every other special has a page and has just as much information. In some places, less information and less references than what I submitted.

I'm finding the communication tools that Wikipedia gives it's editors rather lacking. Not to mention it seems like editors on here just throw things around and give little reason to why. Do you have any insight on why this page keeps getting deleted while all the other pages are "ok"? Just hypocrisy or what?

I hope this communication was appropriate, again, I have no idea what I'm doing and just trying to contribute. I realize this is a full email and these are supposed to be tiny edits, but screw it. If that's a problem feel free to delete this.

Thanks for your time.

Pinski47 (talk) 00:40, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Pinski47: Honestly the sad truth is that a lot of those other specials likely aren't notable either, but no one has taken the time out to redirect/delete them (yet at least).★Trekker (talk) 00:46, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well thanks for the insight at least. As someone who's used Wikipedia for 15+ years, if that's the case, I guess 50%+ of the pages I use in Wikipedia aren't "notable" either. I've always wondered if I should contribute more to Wikipedia over the years. At least that answers the question for me because I wouldn't want to be in arguments like this. Thanks for your time and sincerely thanks for doing what you do here. Pinski47 (talk) 01:01, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Replying in regards of article descriptions[edit]

Raiden and Shao Kahn aren't brothers in the primary storyline that is MK1-7+9-11 just for example. The Kasanoff productions are essentially a retelling where the director has taken some liberties which is commonplace in licensed movies. I think mentioning the word "non-canon" in an article description wouldn't therefore do any harm. What do you think? ToniTurunen (talk) 10:26, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@ToniTurunen: None of that is very relevant to the average reader, it's also potentionally confusing since no one has any context to what "canon" is being refered to.★Trekker (talk) 13:14, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As a videogame franchise first and foremost, the mainline stlry ToniTurunen (talk) 22:52, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As a videogame franchise first and foremost, the mainline story is logically the canon one with all its retcons. Based on my inquiries from laypeople, the canon info is interesting to them. So it would be good for you to provide a general overview of this allegation why people wouldn't care, in the same time while they're reading aspects of story. 250 letters is the maximum for a Wikipedia description, meaning we could definitely utilize this space more, the way I see it. ToniTurunen (talk) 22:59, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not made for fans, it's made for all people. And video game canon is only relevant if you're a fan. Regardless, I don't see any citations in most video game adaptations that state if they're "canon" or not, so it's not very encyclopedic.★Trekker (talk) 23:29, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for changing that page name[edit]

I'm talking about the LGBT representation in American adult animation page. You are right that it "covers only US animation, no mention of European animation or anime." I don't disagree with that. In the future, I'd be perfectly happy with expanding it to European animation (not anime, though as I'd argue that anime refers to animation created in Japan specifically), I'm just not familiar with it. --Historyday01 (talk) 19:21, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@*Treker: I thought that I would let you know about this article Pro Wrestling Federation of Pakistan that is up for deletion since I know that you are into wrestling. Davidgoodheart (talk) 07:08, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There's no need to ping me on my own talkpage @Davidgoodheart:. 😂 Thanks regardless.★Trekker (talk) 00:20, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking of pinging, I pinged you from my old archived talkpages regarding messages that you sent me. Did you ever receive any of those pings? Also I won't ping you on your talkpage anymore, since you said there is no need to. Davidgoodheart (talk) 05:17, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: I'm not sure, what messages are you refering to?★Trekker (talk) 05:55, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I pinged you about the reasoning behind some of the bad categories that I created, and thanked you for encouraging me to keep editing despite deletions, which I thought was very thoughtful. Davidgoodheart (talk) 10:59, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: Aww, of course David. I'm glad to have you here.★Trekker (talk) 11:03, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Davidgoodheart: No I can't recal geting a ping from you then. Did you link properly? My username can be hard to ping sometimes do to the use of * in it.★Trekker (talk) 22:43, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I resent you a ping from my talk page. Did you receive it this time? Davidgoodheart (talk) 02:12, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Davidgoodheart: No sadly not this time either.★Trekker (talk) 11:00, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please give this Pretty Woman (disambiguation) a hatnote heading to all of it's articles in the disambiguation page. I tried to add it, but couldn't do it right. Davidgoodheart (talk) 21:01, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Biographies of Living People; 'Notability'[edit]

Hello, sir. I am contacting you, because, I would like to know what makes a living person 'notable' enough to have an article written on them? I've noticed you have created articles on some notable living people in the past. I am planning to create my article on someone that does not have an article on them. I am just wondering if they would be considered Notable enough, so that's why I'm asking you. Jimmyy68 (talk) 05:39, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Helo @Jimmyy68:, I'm very flattered that you want my input, but I doubt I will be more help to you than Wikipedia:Notability (people) and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons.★Trekker (talk) 07:46, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deprod[edit]

This is the 2nd time you deprod something of mine without reason. Once a prod is rejected it cannot ever be reinstated (except by the deprodder himself), so it's extrmely rude of you to just barge in on a stupid whim without any knowledge of the subject and render this option forever unavailable. I know very well what I'm doing, you clearly do not, so either (1) provide a good reason, (2) message me in the talk page previously, or (3) stay out of business. That page is a hoax created by a banned user, and I now can't get rid of it because of you. Avilich (talk) 12:37, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Avilich: I know a PROD can't be used twice, I've been on Wikipedia for several years. And I don't find it to be a particular issue, just use AFD then. If it is a hoax then you should have said so in your PROD (or better yet, used a Speedy) but that's not what you did, you said a source indicated that life-information about two different men were in the article, (which can be solved by simply removing the information about the person whom the article is not about). I feel perfectly comfortable questioning you, you're hardly some infallible deletion expert, several people have questioned your deletions before me. Also, deproding something is far less rude than calling other people stupid and demanding that they contact you personally before making choices.★Trekker (talk) 17:43, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If it's a combination of two different people, then it's a non-existent person, and thus an illegitimate article, end of story. But even that doesn't matter because I explicitly said the information is covered elsewhere, and you would've found it with the lowest-effort search possible. I always take care to consult the available sources and see if I missed any information, whereas you (not for the first time here) don't trouble with even the most basic of checking procedures. So yes, given that you're not only a step behind but also holding the encyclopedia back, you should inquire into whether you're about to do something stupid before doing it. Avilich (talk) 22:54, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Avilich: If it's a combination of two different people, then it's a non-existent person, and thus an illegitimate article, end of story. This is entirely your own opinion, and one I don't subscribe to. But even that doesn't matter because I explicitly said the information is covered elsewhere, and you would've found it with the lowest-effort search possible. Where exactly? What search would I do exactly? Just because something is obvious to you that doesn't mean it is to others. I always take care to consult the available sources and see if I missed any information. There is zero reason for me to assume that when seeing you edit things, to me you're just any other editor, I don't know what goes on in your head and what your personal procedures are. whereas you (not for the first time here) don't trouble with even the most basic of checking procedures. What is "here"? On Wikipedia? So yes, given that you're not only a step behind but also holding the encyclopedia back, you should inquire into whether you're about to do something stupid before doing it. Even if you do know more about classical antiquity and deletions than me, how you're approaching this discussion doesn't exactly incline me to seek out your opinion. And regardless, I'm overall quite happy with my own competency and contributions to the Wikimedia Project.★Trekker (talk) 23:38, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I often answer your own questions on the wikiproject page, so yes, there was reason for you to think I'm not 'just any other editor' and that I was one step ahead, just like I know you know more about the subject than the average person on this website, and would not thus have done the same as you had the roles been reversed. But you didn't even need to do that, a quick look at the gens page (the first, easiest, and most common sense thing you can check) would've ended the issue then and there, before it even started. As for the rest, whatever, I never expected to convince you, so just weigh your options better before getting in my way next time. Avilich (talk) 00:44, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Avilich: Editors held each other out and answer each other's questions on Wikiproject pages, that's no reason for you to think yourself better than me. There was no reason for you to come to my talk page and be rude over having removed two of your PRODs. You could have approached this with a modicum of civility.★Trekker (talk) 00:55, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
When did I say I'm better than anybody else? All I said was we both acknowledge each other's familiarity with the subject matter, and this should result in issues being solved more easily rather than allowing one party to be caught up in a purely procedural nuisance. This was nothing more than a quick issue that could've been allowed to lapse effortlessly but for an annoying technicality that you needlessly invoked. Avilich (talk) 01:17, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Avilich: So yes, given that you're not only a step behind but also holding the encyclopedia back. I'm not 'just any other editor'.★Trekker (talk) 01:28, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
in this specific case, yes, I knew more than you and your unwelcome intervention was of no favor to anybody. Avilich (talk) 03:19, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Avilich: And why did that make it necessary to so confrontational?★Trekker (talk) 10:39, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Octavii Rufi[edit]

I noticed the back-and-forth edit summaries on Octavia gens, and sympathize with your situation. I originally wrote and organized the article following the information in DGRBM, and initially wanted to revert Avilich's changes—I'm sure I cited the source originally, but I may have only indicated that the article incorporated text from my source, which notice Avilich has made a point of deleting wherever it appears, meaning that many articles now contain unattributed quotations... but since I abandoned the practice of using that style of attribution ages ago in favour of paraphrasing and restating material, and didn't have time to hunt down all of the facts, I let it pass until I saw the two of you battling it out!

This morning I reviewed the entry in DGRBM, and saw that the original didn't clearly state that the Octavii Rufi were a distinct family, although the stemma implied that all of the first Octavius Rufus' descendants were entitled to use the surname, from which I perhaps inferred—reasonably, I hope—a name for the family as a whole. But looking over the article as it stood before Avilich began trimming content, I noted that while most or all of the individuals still appeared to be related to each other and constitute a distinct family, only two or three of them were ever shown with the surname: the first Octavius Rufus, a quaestor in or around 107 BC, and the father of Octavian. But, as Avilich seems to be arguing, the middle one is called Ruso rather than Rufus in other sources, and the attribution of the name to Octavian's father rests on an inscription:

COCTAVIUSCFCNCPRPATERAUGUSTI (CIL VI, 41023)

In which "CPR" was earlier interpreted as "Cai Pronepos Rufus" but which is currently interpreted as "Cai PRonepos". I also looked at the entries for the gens in PW, which plainly states that "Rufus" was a personal cognomen, not passed down to his descendants, and that subsequent occurrences among the Octavii are merely coincidences, seeing as it was a very common surname. I found this persuasive, considering that two of the three possible occurrences in Republican times are at best dubious and likely mistakes—I note that one of the Roman historians claimed that Octavian's father didn't have a surname, or was entitled to use Thurinus, in light of his suppression of a slave revolt at Thurii, which surname Octavian deliberately avoided using.

All of which would have made sense to discuss on the talk page instead of in tiny, argumentative chunks in edit summaries. I understand your attempts to restore what was deleted without adequate explanation, despite being apparently good info, because I was tempted to do it myself. But my investigation leads me to believe it's a lost cause. Avilich researches stuff thoroughly and then some, even if he sometimes dismisses sources he considers irrelevant or outdated—not always with adequate justification, IMO, but here it seems that he's correct, and the issue is really just that the reasons weren't adequately explained. So while I definitely appreciate your contributions and know what it's like to be on the receiving end of what you're getting through aggressive edit summaries—I think it's a hopeless fight in this case, and it might be better just to let it go. But if I haven't said it enough, thanks for your hard work! P Aculeius (talk) 22:55, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, can you explain why you reverted this edit by my bot? I'll try to stop the problem re-ocurring. ― Qwerfjkltalk 10:09, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Qwerfjkl: The map uses links and when you're in a specific article the blaked out link makes it easier to see where the subject is. Now that you bring it up it might be easier for everyone if the map was moved to a template instead.★Trekker (talk) 17:27, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What are your thoughts on this?[edit]

An editor who has been very inactive - only sporadically editing - popped up and reimplemented a number of TurokSwe's changes on the same pages. So, I requested an SPI for the matter. It seems a little too far to be coincidental, but I can't say for certainty that this other editor is indeed one of his sleeper socks he has kept around. What do you think? BOTTO (TC) 17:51, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Speak of the Devil, it looks like you've already had run-ins with this one, according to their talk page history. BOTTO (TC) 18:13, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Botto: Lord it was a while ago since I ran in to them last, if they are indeed Turok then he's been using that account discreetly for a while now.★Trekker (talk) 18:59, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed - which isn't impossible or even completely improbable, considering he's had sleeper socks like Zoombah that he's kept on hand for similar antics before. BOTTO (TC) 19:02, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the CU came back as improbable, so I suppose that's that. I'm so exhausted from editing the Alien page -- I'm at least glad that this fellow didn't do what TurokSwe did and make it identical to the other pages. Plus, I am detecting that consensus is now leaning for a little more acknowledgement of AvP than what there has been previously, which I'm too tired to say no to. I just think that TurokSwe making the pages identical was the issue before. BOTTO (TC) 19:44, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you had been paying a moderate amount of attention, and read at least something of what I linked to, then you would know that I don't deliberately intend to edit your signature at all, but the modification happens because I'm forced by circumstances to use a non-fully-Unicode-compliant tool when accessing Wikipedia from home. Also, you managed to not do it again after I pointed it out, so clearly you CAN avoid it. Sorry for my part in this tho.*Trekker (talk) 06:57, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's unfortunate that you don't understand what "not fully Unicode-compliant" means, but I'm really not going to educate you about that. Since you chose to include in your signature a character beyond 255 for pure vanity purposes (i.e. not your name in the alphabet of your native language, or something similar, which would be very different), it's your responsibility to know what that means. As I said before, I can edit Wikipedia in a Unicode-compliant way when using public Wi-Fi for a few hours a week, but it's not always convenient or feasible for me to journey to where the Wi-Fi is just for that purpose. Talk:Spider-Verse film franchise/Drafts[edit]

Hello, *Treker,

This page popped up on an orphaned talk subpage watchlist and I was wondering if you could move it to your User space or Draft space. It's been around for more than 2 years and I think it would be more suitable in a draft space. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 05:18, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Liz: Should it be moved to Draft:Spider-Verse film franchise/Drafts or some other name?★Trekker (talk) 05:45, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Blade franchise[edit]

You've made the same delete repeatedly. Please stop repeating the same delete over-and-over again and discuss it on the Talk page already. I'm optimistic we can come to some agreement if you discuss this. -- 109.79.178.223 (talk) 11:10, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think that its you that should stop adding it back. Having the MCU stuff there is just misleading.★Trekker (talk) 11:45, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BRD Maybe if you had discussed it after the first revert we could have resolved this sooner. Please discuss your opinions further on the article talk page so others can clearly see them. You may also want to make a comment about the edits from IP 103 going the other way and adding a whole lot more MCU to the article. -- 109.79.178.223 (talk) 00:18, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Domitia aunt of Nero[edit]

That move was unnecessary. "Domitia" is only a partial title match of "Domitia Lepida", meaning the former can be described as "aunt of Nero" without the likelihood of confusion. Avilich (talk) 13:38, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Avilich: I don't agree with that, seems pretty easy to confuse for many people.★Trekker (talk) 13:44, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That the names don't fully match is already enough. I'll leave this one up to you though, "aunt of Messalina" isn't broken either. Avilich (talk) 14:20, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Abraham Whistler[edit]

I'd appreciate if you could take another look at the character article for Abraham Whistler. I expect you remember that the anon editor who was edit warring over Blade (franchise) was also making some questionable changes to Abraham Whistler article. He does not understand WP:LEAD or WP:UNDUE and really seems to have an axe to grind, and insists on forcing his edits into the lead. He does not seem interested in actually making it into a better character article, and instead keeps banging on about whitewashing. (Repeatedly getting blocked for his other edits doesn't seem to have changed his attitude.) I'm not sure the article meets the notability requirements WP:GNG yet but I expect it could probably be brought up to standard. I'm not entirely convinced of the claim that Abraham Whistler and Jamal Afari are the same person and not a new separate character, again I think this has been assumed but not properly shown yet.

Anyhow I restored the Reception section, and also created a Development/Background section because the lead is supposed to be a summary of the article and because I thought it was worth mentioning that Goyer thought of the character as a John Wayne type.

I'd appreciate your opinion on my attempts to improve the article, and if you think the standalone article should even exist. -- 109.76.199.85 (talk) 14:13, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

He is very tiresome, thanks for expanding on the development of the character. I am very tired after New Year right now but I do want to improve the article as well.★Trekker (talk) 15:23, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The main thing is that you aren't someone I expect to agree with me necessarily and if you thought I was doing something wrong or misguided I'm confident you would not hesitate to say so. Not disagreeing is enough for now, thanks. -- 109.76.199.85 (talk) 18:47, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No real surprise but the disruptive edits continue. (Including a claim that the character was created by John Semper which is clearly contradicted by the sources.) WP:COATRACK. -- 109.78.201.165 (talk) 14:32, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sondra London source[edit]

On the edit linked below, you removed the source for the book, saying it was an "unreliable source." I purposely chose a secondary source, but can use a primary source (i.e. the publisher) if you think that would work better. Frankly, I did quite a bit of looking to come up with a description that didn't sound like an advertisement. Songs about religion[edit]

Regarding you entry in the deletion discussion for categories: what you say is right, but if a category will have no member by definition, it can as well be deleted. Do you know even one song that is "about religion"? We don't talk "related to religion" or "mentioning religion in the title". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:12, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Gerda Arendt: I don't see why this is on my talkpage instead of on the Cfd page, but to humour you, No Church in the Wild is very clearly lyrically about religion itself. If one or more of the categories end up as smallcats then they can be deleted then, as far as I see it the motivation given for the current discussion is not a good reason for deletion.★Trekker (talk) 15:55, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gallia Polla: a couple of questions[edit]

Was just reviewing/editing Gallia gens, and was confused by a couple of points: 1, what is an "ousia"? Wiktionary doesn't seem to have it—at least not a definition that makes sense in this context! Also, wasn't Tiberius' adoptive father Augustus? Or did you mean someone or something else? I couldn't see what your source says—and probably couldn't understand if if I could see it, so I could use some help figuring out what you meant—thanks! P Aculeius (talk) 01:07, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @P Aculeius:, in his youth Tiberius was adopted by Marcus Gallius (possibly some kind of monetary agreement with his birth father, historans aren't really sure why) but when he moved into his mother and step-fathers household he renounced it since Gallius had been opposed to Octavian in the past. As for ousia, it seems to have been a term used for estates that were owned at some point by members of the imperial household, possibly implying "holiness" of those places. Gallia Polla's ousia kept her name long after her death it seems.★Trekker (talk) 12:06, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I must have been too tired to think clearly, or I would have seen the entry about Marcus Gallius—or managed to look it up myself. Thanks for the clarification! P Aculeius (talk) 13:02, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
