We are a non-profit organisation based in Berlin.
Association
We are committed to the dissemination of free and openly accessible knowledge in society. We see ourselves as an active part of German and European civil society. Our work is independent, non-partisan, interdisciplinary, and non-commercial.
We are present in numerous areas of society and are recognized as one of the leading organisations for innovative projects in the areas of transparency and accountability, rule of law, access to knowledge and participation, digital literacy and public control in Germany and Europe alike.
We are also engaged in the globally active Open Knowledge Network.
2011
The association was founded. The first meeting took place in 2010 at the re:publica with Rufus Pollock, initiator of the Open Knowledge Network.

We now employ 30 people - including activists, scientists, developers, policy specialists and designers.

Open Knowledge Deutschland engages in the international Open Knowledge network. The network includes organisations from a total of 24 countries.

In the past years we have realized 44 projects - among them campaigns, hackathons, community support, educational offers and software solutions.
