This is my second review after the one I wrote yesterday about the change in service fee and denying there was an Angies List coupon. The owner of the business called me yesterday and asked what had happened and apologized profusely. She was clearly very concerned about her company's reputation and stated that she did not know why the workman did not give the correct service fee. She said she would discuss this with him. She was very professional and committed to her business being upfront and customer friendly. She also wanted to make things right and did so. I would definitely use this company again and would want to support her small business.

South County Lock & Safe
In March of 2009, they changed the locks on our office doors and did a whole bunch of keys. They are very dependable and if you have an emergency, like when you have a business and have to change the locks right away, they come right out. I am not sure if he has an office now but basically he used to work out of his truck. He would go to a place and have the keys made but if you need to service the locks, I know practically everybody in the business park we're at, uses him.

Rex Key Locksmith and Security
They are an old time locksmith and are extremely good. They can do pretty much anything. I run a second-hand business and we had a set of drawers with an individually keyed lock. Rex is the only place that can do those. In order to re-key it they have to be able to remove the device, but it is a banker's setup and the security to get into it is very difficult. Rex can do that. I had a friend that restored old jukeboxes and he said Rex is the only place that can make a key for an old jukebox. They have got licensed certified locksmiths and they are busy every day. They are great. I never have to take their keys back because they don't work. They are excellent.

"The latching mechanism on one door started to fail by not retracting all the way into the door when the handle was turned. Since the doorknobs are over 40 years old, we decided to replace this one and two that were identical to it. I bought three new doorknobs that used the same kind of key as a fourth door. I called QuckKey the next morning, and true to their name Ethan appeared a bit more than an hour later. He exchanged the three 40-year-old doorknobs for the new ones (taking the old ones to be recycled), and re-keyed them so that the key to a fourth door would open them. We also have a fifth door for which we lacked a key, so Ethan re-keyed it as well, at a small extra charge because he had to pick the lock. One key now opens all five doors. Ethan also made eight copies of the key to the fourth door, and tested each one. Total time, a bit under 90 minutes. Throughout, Ethan was courteous, friendly, professional, and very competent. It was a pleasure doing business with him."

"Overall, the call was good. Randy, the locksmith, arrived within the time allotted and presented a business card for ID at the door. He diagnosed the issue and proceeded to carve & drill until both top and bottom lock were fitting perfectly. He was friendly and courteous. He did spend some amount of time on the phone (I think with his boss) which took away from work time. He also was away quite a few minutes when locked his own keys in the Locksmith van. It was kind of embarrassing for him and I heard a bunch of hammering so I went outside to see what was up. The fact that he was a locksmith obviously helped, he was in the truck in minutes. He also didn't clean up the worksite, which was covered with shavings from his drilling and carving. I'd recommend him technically, but a few little details would've made the experience perfect. I knew about the cost, but didn't get any Angie's List discount."
