California For All Women

The Office of the First Partner is dedicated to furthering the cause of gender equity in California, and lifting up women and their families by ensuring that women can thrive both at work and at home. Take a look at our key initiatives below.

#EqualPayCA

#EqualPayCA is a partnership between the Office of the First Partner, the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, and California’s Labor and Workforce Development Agency to turn the strongest equal pay laws in the nation into the smallest pay gap in the nation. California Women Inspire

The Office of the First Partner worked in partnership with the California Museum to curate a brand new, signature exhibit titled “Women Inspire: California Women Changing Our World.” Far too often, women’s stories and achievements are left off the pages of our history books or pushed to the margins of our celebrations, this brand new exhibit highlights the achievements and historical importance of California women. Take a closer look.

California Partners Project.

California Partners Project

In January 2020, the First Partner co-founded The California Partners Project,  an organization focused on increasing women’s representation in leadership in California, and ensuring that our state’s media and technology industries are a force for good in the lives of all children. In October 2020, The California Partners Project released their first report, Claim Your Seat, the first comprehensive analysis tracking the shift in gender representation on California boards since the law changed in 2018. In November 2020, their second report was released, Are the Kids Alright?, in partnership with the Child Mind Institute, to take a deep look at how teens are coping with loss, social isolation, and increased media use during the COVID-19 pandemic. For information about the California Partners Project, a 501(c)(4) organization, please visit: calpartnersproject.org. The California Partners Project is a nongovernmental organization, and its website is not an official government website.

CalEITC

The First Partner has visited communities around the state to champion CalEITC, a cost of living refund that helps working families put money back into their pockets. In 2019, California expanded the CalEITC so people making up to $30,000 per year now qualify, and we added a NEW Young Child Tax Credit for families with children under the age of 6. To learn more about CalEITC and if you might qualify, visit CalEITC4me.org and take a quick peek at the video!

Celebrating the Centennial.

Celebrating the Centennial

The First Partner serves as a member of the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, a federal commission created by Congress to commemorate and coordinate the nationwide celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. Learn more about how you can commemorate this milestone, and participate in the national celebrations, here.

Parents Agenda

As parents to four young children, both the Governor and First Partner know that when we support parents and families, we are supporting our future. In 2019, the Administration announced expansions in the California Earned Income Tax Credit and paid family leave, increases in affordable childcare, and a repeal of the taxes on diapers and tampon products. As we navigate the new impacts of COVID-19, the Governor and First Partner are keeping the Parent’s Agenda front and center, continuing to prioritize the issues that impact our California parents and families.
