Mediawiki:Spam-blacklist is meant to be used by the spam blacklist extension. Unlike the meta spam blacklist, this blacklist affects pages on the English Wikipedia only. Any administrator may edit the spam blacklist. See Wikipedia:Spam blacklist for more information about the spam blacklist.

Instructions for editors

There are 4 sections for posting comments below. Please make comments in the appropriate section. These links take you to the appropriate section:

  1. Proposed additions
  2. Proposed removals
  3. Troubleshooting and problems
  4. Discussion

Each section has a message box with instructions. In addition, please sign your posts with ~~~~ after your comment.

Completed requests are archived. Additions and removals are logged, reasons for blacklisting can be found there.

Addition of the templates {{Link summary}} (for domains), {{IP summary}} (for IP editors) and {{User summary}} (for users with account) results in the COIBot reports to be refreshed. See User:COIBot for more information on the reports.

Instructions for admins

Any admin unfamiliar with this page should probably read this first, thanks.
If in doubt, please leave a request and a spam-knowledgeable admin will follow-up.

  1. Does the site have any validity to the project?
  2. Have links been placed after warnings/blocks? Have other methods of control been exhausted? Would referring this to our anti-spam bot, XLinkBot be a more appropriate step? Is there a WikiProject Spam report? If so, a permanent link would be helpful.
  3. Please ensure all links have been removed from articles and discussion pages before blacklisting. (They do not have to be removed from user or user talk pages).
  4. Make the entry at the bottom of the list (before the last line). Please do not do this unless you are familiar with regex — the disruption that can be caused is substantial.
  5. Close the request entry on here using either {{done}} or {{not done}} as appropriate. The request should be left open for a week maybe as there will often be further related sites or an appeal in that time.
  6. Log the entry. Warning: if you do not log any entry you make on the blacklist, it may well be removed if someone appeals and no valid reasons can be found. To log the entry, you will need this number - 1084462635 after you have closed the request. See here for more info on logging.

Proposed additions[edit]

englishtivi.com[edit]

Persistent, ignores talk page warnings. IP range is narrow but busy, a block would cause a lot of collateral damage. - MrOllie (talk) 19:24, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm bringing back this report, which went into the archives with no action last month, after activity resumed this morning. - MrOllie (talk) 13:54, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I just removed a ton of instances xwiki and have requested a global SBL too. CUPIDICAE💕 14:01, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Appreciated, thank you. I'm trying to bring this page out of the archives (it was in draft for too long) and get it published.
The issue was with sources, but it's time to update that and publish the page. Thank you. Fiddle-fig-mama (talk) 17:07, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@MrOllie: plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. --OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:19, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

pconstantinou.com[edit]

Spammed from at least three different IPs over the last year. plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist.OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:18, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

jonesbeach.com[edit]

Spammed by at least four users/IPs. plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. OhNoitsJamie Talk 01:45, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

again it's not spam - its an independent guide since 1998 and there's plenty of other links on wikipedia that have been added as independent guides. It is allowed if you read the details on whats allowed in external links and it is useful information.
i asked you on your page but you did not respond. did you not see it? not sure why you are being so hostile.
this was on your talk page from march 24..
Hi, Just want to ask first if this is ok with you to add under "external links" at the bottom.
JonesBeach.com - Independent Guide Since 1998
Thanks Defeedme (talk) 22:24, 24 March 2022 (UTC) Defeedme (talk) 02:21, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Again, it is spam. You were warned multiple times and subsequently blocked for adding it. Then today you tried adding it again under the IP 2601:580:4580:9F30:0:0:0:79D4. Please promote your website elsewhere. OhNoitsJamie Talk 02:24, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
obviously that is your personal opinion that it's spam, because it's not. An independent guide since 1998 is not spam and it's not promoting when it has useful information for the past 25 years and continues to give useful information that is not available anywhere else.
The only reason I added it is because you never responded to my question from March 24. I can't read your mind.
How can this be escalated so at least be removed from the blacklist? Defeedme (talk) 02:37, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
