Recent Review: Superior Asphalt New Castle IN. (Wayne Voiles) On July 11, 2017 I signed a contract with Wayne Voiles (Superior Asphalt) to expand, crack fill and seal my large driveway. The total amount was $6,000.00 of which Wayne required half down ($3,000.00). I wrote the check (as requested) to Wayne Voiles not Superior Asphalt. Upon receiving the check Mr Voiles said he most likely would begin our job the following Monday (July 17). Monday came and gone as did the next whole week...no sign of Wayne or his crew. I called, left a voice mail and eventually Wayne responded by telling me we were NEXT in line. Another three days passed and I called again he answered and said he was ”on his way”. He never showed up but had several excuses as to why he was absent. For weeks, I consistently tried to call him but always got his voice mail and no return call from him or if he did return my call, it was always a promise he never kept. By this time, it was mid-August and I was beginning to understand he was never going to complete our work and contacted our attorney. Was advised to contact Mr. Voiles one more time and explain he would face a lawsuit if he did not return to the job and complete it as contracted. I called again (left voice mail message) and explained I had spoken to our attorney and we needed him to do the work or we would file a lawsuit against him. I received a return call saying he was within minutes of our location with a partial load of asphalt. He arrived within one hour after our conversation with a “hot box” approximately half full of left over asphalt from a previous job. He and his crew worked 3 hours, until about 9:00pm unloading, spreading and compacting the asphalt. This amounted to approximately 20% of the quoted asphalt for the completed job. He never returned to bring more asphalt or complete the job. Approx 5 days after he was last on the job, two of his “crew” came to me with a request that they be allowed to finish the job on their own and that Wayne was going through a divorce, was an emotional wreck and had not paid them for the last two jobs they had worked for him. They had no idea what Wayne had done with the $3,000 he was paid in advance but they needed money and was willing to work to complete the job on their own. They said Wayne would let them use his equipment to do the work but I would need to purchase the additional asphalt required. I reluctantly agreed and the next day we purchased hot asphalt but when it arrived we were told that Wayne would NOT let them use his equipment and the asphalt was poured but not properly compacted. In the days following, it was obvious that Wayne was the skilled person and the crew were just laborers and had very little knowledge as to how to finish the job. I paid for the asphalt, the trucking, a rented roller as well as an additional $ 475 to the “crew” for their labor and called another “professional” crew to complete our job, losing my original down payment all together. In summary, Mr. Voiles collected $ 3,000 for work he had no intention of completing. He has avoided numerous phone calls to try to “work this out”. He says he didn’t get my messages on numerous occasions although I have phone records showing my calls to him. I am currently waiting, as I have 24 months to file suit against him to see IF he will try to make this right. Although I understand he may be emotionally distraught, he has no right to keep our money for work he did not perform.

Recent Review: I found Mr. Rowe and a couple other contractors on Angie's List and had them come out to discuss the project and get estimates. Mr. Rowe was very responsive to my phone calls and willing to come right out to see what we needed done. He was also happy to come back a second time to discuss everything to make sure we were all on the same page. Their estimate was DEFINITELY the most competitive as they seemed to want to do what was RIGHT by making it as affordable as they could, rather than do something that was just a "band aid" and not going to last. Mr. Rowe is a reasonable man and takes pride in his team's work. We scheduled the date to complete work and they came out and had it complete within one day. They were very detail oriented, customer service and satisfaction driven and did a FANTASTIC job. I highly recommend. Thank you!!

Recent Review: Quality of work was fantastic. Only rub was an addon bill that I didn't expect that came in the mail without prior approval. Yes, the square footage was in the deal but a quick call would be appreciated next time as the amount was a bit higher than anticipated. Other than that I couldn't have been happier.

Recent Review: They provided a quality service at a reasonable price. Our driveway had not been sealed in at least six years and now it looks good and will withstand several more years of use. Of note, my neighbor hired them first and after I used them, another neighbor hired them. No complaints.

Recent Review: The owner, Hughie Corrigan, quoted the job on 10/10/13. He said he had a crew working in the area and could do the coating that afternoon. I felt the price was high but he explained he could do the job for less but this price was for a thicker coating and would last longer. I agreed to have them do the job with the thicker coating and I had a very bad experience with another company whose coating did not last a year and I wanted this to last and look good. His crew arrived in about an hour and started sealing the cracks and then sealed the rest of the driveway. They worked quickly and were very nice. Hughie returned to check on the progress and he is very nice and pleasant. As I recall, they were done in less than 2 hours and the driveway looked very good. I am writing this review on 12/20/13 as I wanted to see how the coating held up. The driveway still looks very good and the cracks are still sealed after rain, snow and snow removal. I feel this coating job is going to last even though I still feel the cost was a little high. I am very pleased with the job itself.

Recent Review: Great - I contact company and John called me back the next day. He came out to do the estimate that day and left me a quote. I had a special issue with the apron off my garage and he worked with me to come up with two solutions and helped me to understand the choices of each. Once I decided to go with the company, he scheduled them to come out within the week. They arrived on time and Kathy and the workers walked through what needed to be done. I left to go to work and Kathy called me with a question that was easy to resolve. They left my garage door opener in a pre-arranged and safe location and I am home later that day to a beautiful new driveway! They did a great job and were so easy to work with. I am recommending them to a friend of mine who needs to have similar work done.
