- RIA ConstructionR.I.A. was hired based on their Angi listing, Angi reviews, their website, the prejob interviews and estimate comparison with 3 other bids. Also they are right here in Clearwater, FL. The project was replacing rotten T1-11 wood panels on an upper right gable of my townhouse along with some cedar trim, fascia and soffit. I started out thinking of using fiber cement siding but I had to match exactly the materials on the other townhouses in the development. Because I couldn't make up my mind about what I wanted to do Ivan had to come out twice to estimate the same job. Thank you Ivan for doing that. It paid off because I hired him. Once I gave the go ahead they didn't waste any time; the crew started work within about a week. I was concerned about some forecast rain damaging the brand new T1-11 panels so the crew worked around that and did the soffit and fascia first and the panels and trim the day after the rain (a little rain probably wouldn't have hurt the bare panels, but I got no argument from the R.I.A. crew; they ARE out to please the customer). I was concerned about the new wood panels lasting over time so they added some flashing that wasn't done by the last contractor and also shimmed the bottom of the panels up off of the roof line to my satisfaction. Even though they were not doing any painting they did do some caulking. The crew of two got a good start each of the two mornings, worked hard, efficiently (I don't think they took a lunch break) and knew what they were doing. Also I watched them do most of the work and the crew leader was a friendly guy. All the wood panels and trim pieces were fit in very nicely. They cleaned up as expected and I have no complaints. I would use them again. They did give the senior 5% discount and listed what is in their warranty. Working with this contractor was a good experience

"There were many pros and only one major con through my entire experience, but it was enough to bump my review down to 3 stars. You might think it should be lower when you get done reading this. I'll start with the negative as that is what everyone will be interested in. Job: Siding replaced on 2-story home as well as put plywood on beneath siding. In short: IF DID NOT WATCH THEM 24/7 AND CLIMB UP ON THE ROOF TO CHECK THE WORK MYSELF, I WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT estimated $8K IN SHEATHING / LABOR AND HAD A HOUSE THAT WAS SEVERELY WEAKENED AND POSSIBLY NOT UP TO CODE. Somehow, large parts of my second floor were missing siding. You could literally take the old siding off and punch a hole through through to the drywall inside with your fist. I paid a significant amount of money (estimating $8,000) to have plywood put on everywhere it was missing. The crew that came out, first off, was not given any plywood on day one and was not aware they were adding sheathing (plywood). They started putting the insulation in, and I had to come out several times during the day to tell them to stop and take it down because there was no plywood behind the insulation. On the third day, I had to leave the house all day. When I came back, all the old siding had been taken down and the insulation was put up. I climbed up on the roof with a screwdriver and POKED A HOLE THROUGH THE INSULATION RIGHT TO MY DRYWALL! The entire wall was not sheathed properly. When the crew came back, I played dumb and asked if it was done properly, and they insisted it was. Lied right to my face. I guess they didn't think I would get up and check. Well I did, and I dragged them up there with me. They mumbled something about a good catch and tore off all the insulation and started again. If I were an elderly couple, I would have been ripped off completely here and no one would have caught it. I was disgusted. The worst part was, other than an apology from the company and $200 off for non-related damage done accidentally by the installers as well as some minor items not taken care of, there was no compensation for this massive mistake. Now for the good, pretty much everything else. The house looks great a couple weeks afterwards. The vinyl siding has much more flexibility than the previous siding, but I guess that is normal. Color is great. The crew did lots of little extras and worked hard each day they were here and cleaned up the yard nicely. I thought the price was decent, and the sales rep was fine if not a bit time consuming (I guess some people are way more into the details than I am which is good if that is you). They came out to do the job 3 months ahead of schedule (only downside was I had to scramble to come up with the funds much quicker than expected). So why three out of five stars with such a horrific oversight? There are lots of moving parts in this company, and I don't think there was a full blown conspiracy by all involved to cheat me out of what I paid for. I wish the site manager would have noticed some of what I noticed, but he did not seem to be there most of the time. In the end, I believe I got what I wanted, paid them, and have moved on with my life. My experience makes me nervous for someone who might not be as agile or readily available to monitor the work as I did. If you are getting similar work done and can't micromanage the crew yourself, don't be afraid to hire someone you trust that can watch over a crew to make sure you get what you paid for. I bet a couple hundred dollars a day could save you big time in the long run. A shame it has to come to that though.

"Wow! I can't say enough good things about Genesis! Walter and Matt were great communicators. The quote was detailed as I asked (other contractors didn't do this). The price was right where I expected it to be and a couple of additions (one new window installation and some interior drywall repair) were quite reasonably priced. The workers were very courteous and professional. They were always on time or informed me ahead of time about schedule changes. In fact, they were so good, I subcontracted them to install a new roof and that job went as smoothly as the siding project. I heartily recommend them!

"The windows are fine but I priced a bit high. The instillation crew consisted of two men, the older one being the boss who constantly berated the younger man for not working faster, the crew should have had at least three men to do the job safely due to the weight of the larger windows. As they prepared to leave we had to remind them to finish chalking one of the windows and I wanted a new screen to replace one that was made too big and forced into place, I also asked them to wash the windows as promised, they said the next crew would finish, cleanup, install the new screen and wash the windows, after they were gone I found moulding that had been poorly installed. The cleanup crew brought a correctly sized screen and tried to correct moulding issue which I actually had to finish myself, they also informed me that washing the windows was not their job and should have been done by the instillation crew so we of course did that too. I had to repeatedly call Morgan to find out when the cleanup crew would arrive and the new screen would be installed. If I hire Morgan again I will withhold at least half the payment as long as I have to until I have had time to make sure the job is completely satisfactory, I should have known better, that was my fault.

"They did have to reschedule but that was weather related and they were there the following day as promised. The crew did an amazing job and took their time to get it right. The gutters look sturdy and the appropriate size and a huge improvement over what I had previously.
