Dallas Shower Valve Repair

My shower handle broke and cause the shower valve to stick open. To make matters worse, I was unable to unlock the water meter at the street with a key because the lock was jammed. My water ran for about four hours because I couldn't turn off the water to main house. I tried turning off the broken shower valve using needle-nose pliers and other tool, but it wouldn't work. I called plummer after plummer in Angie's List, trying to find one that answered their phones after hours to help with an emergency. I had hired Baker Brother's once before, and it was the only company that answered the phone after hours. The lady on the phone from Baker Brothers tracked down a plumber for me that night and called me back. She warned me that there would be an extra $200 charge on top of additional labor and parts charges for the visit since it was after normal hours. The technician who came out was very professional and friendly. It took him about two hours to repair the broken handle and install a new valve sleeve. Fortunately, I had an extra shower handle that matched, so the only part he supplied was a valve sleeve. Baker Brothers may be more expensive than other plumbers, but it is the only plumbing company that answers its phone at night and can help you in an emergency situation.

Great customer service! Justin was very courteous and professional. He was in and out in no time and didn't mind taking his time to explain the problem and the solution to me.

Needed a quick response to a shower valve problem that required turning off the water to the house. Baker Brothers responded quickly and completed the repair. Mark is a excellent plumber. The valve works better than before.

Tierney Plumbing did a good job at a reasonable price. They replaced four bathroom faucets with newer sets. They also gave an estimation for replacing shower valve and head. I hired the services again for replacing shower valve and head because their estimate was lower than another vendor. Another vendor required higher prices and cutting of sheet metal for installation of new shower valve and head. But plumber Jason of Tierney Plumbing does not needed cutting of sheet metal to instal newer shower set. The quality seems good so far.

He showed up on time, very courteous. Just a super neat guy. When i called the Company, they answered immediately and could send someone out right away. We had called 9 other plumbers, Ernie's was the only one who could make it before the next week.

Terrible!. Worst plumber experience ever! They came on Friday and I agreed to pay $175 for a simple shower fix - replace a cartridge. The plumber accidentally cracked the valve trying to get the old cartridge out. His supervisor(Ruben) told him he would have to increase the charge to $375 to fix both the valve(they broke) and the cartridge. I said to have Ruben call me to discuss. They shut off the water to the shower (supposedly) and left. (Ruben never called — still has never called.)That evening I discover the upstairs shower had leaked for hours thru the shower wall, down to my downstairs bedroom and bathroom wall and there were puddles of water in both rooms and the ceiling was also wet — a special plaster-finish was wet and stained. They sent someone out at midnight and shut off the water to my entire house and promised to come back first thing Sat morning to fix it. They NEVER showed up on Sat! New plumber, Matt(2nd plumber), finally came Sunday and said the 1st plumber had stripped the threads of the valve, not cracked it plus he had not shut off the water correctly. 1st plumber had lied. They again didn’t come back on Mon morning as promised, but showed up at 4pm and Ruben(again) told them to collect the $375 before fixing anything. Even though I showed them easily $1000 in damages from the water leaking and the damage they did to the shower in removing sheetrock and tile to get to what needed fixed. They left and have no intention of returning and I WILL NEVER USE THEM OR RECOMMEND LEVY & SON TO ANYONE EVER.

Called Rodgers and ask them to install a shower valve as soon as possible. They performed the service the next day with professionalism and at a reasonable price.

Other customer reviews is what made me decide to give Best Quality Plumbing a try. It can be challenging in finding a plumber in this area as there are several to choose from. I did the usual and started my research and narrowed down my choices to 4 plumbers. A couple started off very high and in one case, a plumber was going to charge for an estimate. The job required a shower valve swap out and adjustment to the placement of the valve. Chuck was able to do everything I requested and affordable. He is very friendy and professional as others has mentioned. I would recommend him to my neighbors and friends.

Overall, the job went well. This was an Angie's List - Big Deal, where I purchased two hours of plumbing for $89. The price charged for the parts needed for the job was very reasonable. The only thing keeping it from being an A+ experience was that when the plumber soldered everything back in place, he had not accounted for the width of the new trim piece and the faucet fitting was too close to the shower handle. Something that I discovered as I began to layout the tile to close the wall back up. They scheduled him to return promptly and the issue was resolved to my satisfaction. Everything has been working fine over the past four months with no signs of trouble ahead.

Classic Plumbing did some work for me in December of 2016. They weren't able to do the handle, they didn't have a replacement one. They couldn't use the old one, they said it was corroded. So they just replaced the valve. They charged me, I think it was $185. They actually didn't honor the coupon that they published to Angie's List. They didn't clean up after their work. Their responsiveness was good. What they did on the coupon basically was, they gave me a bill, right, and the bill didn't have anything on the coupon as far as the discount. Well, they quoted me a price, and then when they did the work they told me it was going to be $185. So I gave them the coupon and the guy said, we'll send you a receipt. So when I got the receipt, it was still $185. I called up and said where's the discount for the coupon and the lady said, that's already in there. I was like well that wasn't the price you originally told me. That wasn't the original price you told me, with the coupon it should be less because you don't have it in the bill, there's no break down of the coupon being used on the bill itself, it just says, you know, the work and what it cost. There was no point in arguing anymore, you know, my personal check is dated to honor the coupon, they're going to tell you they did, you know, it was implied in the receipt, even though I have a receipt. They told me they could redo a receipt and put the coupon in there and come out tomorrow, it'd be fine, anyone can do that. So that kind of left it sour. I kind of picked them and the reason was is that they do the Angie's List coupons, I get them right from Angie's List. It's that kind when someone doesn't honor them that I lose faith in Angie's List.

I used the special on Angie's list. The guys contacted me by email to set a date. They showed up on time and did a clean job on the shower valve removal and replacement. The guys were polite and well mannered. I would call them back out for any other plumbing issues.

2 MONTHS AFTER THIS REPAIR, I SUDDENLY COULDN'T TURN OFF WATER FROM THE "REPAIRED" FAUCET. I CALLED AND WAS TOLD THEY'D BE OUT BEFORE LUNCH, THEN AFTER LUNCH, THEN MID-DAY, THEN LATE EVENING; I LEFT A MESSAGE AFTER THEY CLOSED A 6 FOR A TECH. TO CALL ME - NO RESPONSE. (EACH TIME, I CALLED THEM - THEY NEVER CALLED TO TELL ME MY STATUS, AND I WAITED FOR 10 HOURS). POPE STILL HASN'T PHONED; WORSE, THEY DID NOT HONOR THE 90-DAY GUARANTEE ON THE INVOICE. I HAD TO PAY SOMEONE ELSE, AND THAT PLUMBER TOOK 1 LOOK AND SAID THAT THE JOB POPE DID THE FIRST TIME WAS A MESS.

Called Mr. Rooter, described drippy shower valve problem I was having, and requested a rough estimate to fix. I told them the brand and offered to text a picture, but Mr. Rooter would not give any estimate without looking at the shower in person. There's a good reason for this-the $300 cost, which they knew up front. (If I wasn't an "Advantage Plan" customer, the cost would have been $350!) Had I known the cost, I would have shopped around, which Mr. Rooter knows very well. The price came from their price book after barely looking at the shower-the same book they could have quoted from over the phone. If I chose not to have the repair done, I am still on the hook for an $80 "trip charge". Nice incentive to be ripped off! The two guys who did the repair were very friendly and helpful. But, while they were working on it, a major flood would have occurred, if I wasn't paying attention. The sink they used to check on the water to the house being on or off, had the drain plug in place. As it turned out, there was only minor flooding when the sink overflowed, which I had the pleasure of cleaning up. Now that the repair is complete, the valve sticks out of the shower wall at least 3/4" more than the one it replaced. Contacted Mr. Rooter about this and got the song & dance routine: Original parts might no longer be available, etc. For $300, if original parts are no longer available, the valve should be completely replaced and not just rebuilt. And, last but not least, warranty is only 90 days. Will not use Mr. Rooter again. Being generous by giving them a "D".

He gave me a quote and two-hour window and set up an appointment. He arrived on time, quickly assessed the problem and talked to me about it before he made the repair. After he was finished he showed me the old parts, gave me instructions on using the handles correctly. He was courteous, gave me the details I needed, and left everything clean.
