The initial design violated the setback restrictions, so the patio and pergola had to be redesigned. The redesigned pergola seemed to large for the space, but I was assured by Todd that it would be fine. The finished pergola was roughly three-quarters the size in the design. He disagreed with the reduction in size and offered a discount that was low in my opinion. We came to a compromised discount. Good aspects of this project: High quality stamped concrete, stone bench, and pergola. Todd was very professional throughout the process. Bad aspects of this project: Took four months to complete, inaccurate design, inconsistent quality electrical work.

Quality Built Pergolas
Don, the owner, worked with us personally and sent his contractor to our home to install a pergola on our deck. His contractor worked diligently in the heat to install it and my husband and were are so impressed with the work, that we have asked Don to quote us a price for an outdoor kitchen. Luis was very responsive and came out the next day when I called about getting a bid on a pergola. I felt comfortable with his presentation and liked the style of the work he had done for others. They were able to schedule my job quickly since it was small and could be completed in about a day. The crew came early to start building the framework and staining the lumber. They would have finished the same day if it had not started raining heavily. They came back the next day and were finished in a few hours. I am very happy with the warm color of the stain of the wood and the precision the crew took with ensuring all the boards were aligned perfectly. It really enhanced the curb appeal of my front yard and I am very happy with the result.

CUSTOM PATIO DESIGNS
Jeff did an awesome job placing a pergola in a difficult house configuration, and I constantly get compliments on his pergola from friends and neighbors. I have to give Jeff an A due to his quality, customer service, and responsiveness! However, and please don't let this stop you from using him, if you do pick Jeff (and you won't regret it if you do) ask him to use a post anchor/spacer between the post and your patio. The cedar posts he used, were placed directly on the flagstone patio and eventually I will have rot problems, but I have had the pergola for a couple of years and I don't have any problems yet.

SOUTHWEST FENCE AND DECK
So disappointed. Southwest Fence and Deck built our fence and pergola 10 years ago and they did a great job then. Our pergola needed some work, so I called them back for the job. I accepted their quote and was told scheduling would call when it was time to start the job. Then the frustrations started. 1) A month later I got the call with the date the crew would be out to work. I was told I needed to make a 50% payment before work started. I called the person who was supposed to take my payment but they were out of town and did not change their voice mail to indicate they were away or who to call in their absence. After multiple messages and much frustration, I called the scheduling department and was told the person was out and they could take my payment. 2) After making my down payment, I was expecting the crew out on a Monday. Nobody showed, nobody called. This goes on for the entire week. I call on Friday to ask where the crew is and am told that they are running behind and will be out on Saturday or Monday. Next week is the repeat of the first week. No crew. No communication. I have cancelled the job and am expecting a refund, we'll see how long that takes. Needless to say SWF&D has lost a customer.
