We were thrilled with the outcome! The fence was estimated, ordered and installed in a very timely manner. The product is quality and the look is above average. We were so surprised at the clean look it provided while enjoying our new privacy in our yard! Thank you to Matt and Rob for their professional manner in both explaining the product and installing the fence

Ivan was a pleasure to work with. He came out promptly, give us a reasonable and affordable estimate, and scheduled a time that fit our summer schedule. He and his helper came as promised and carefully removed the old fence and put the new one up board by board. It is perfectly done and beautiful. Even though get there was more digging and leveling then he expected, he honored his original bid. We are very happy with his work and the fence

They custom built a fence that we designed for our garden area. They were very code. They gave a very accurate and detailed quote also explaining that prices would go up if they ran into issues. All the terms were explained well. I went with him because of his expertise and the quality of his quote. He was recommended by someone else who used him

Dwight either does the work personally or, as in the case of the chimney work and painting, supervises it personally. He gives detailed estimates, checks in every single day, never leaves a work site less than immaculate and takes care of details we don't even think to notice! This is the second big job Dwight has done for us [first one was a complete overhaul of a bathroom, a project Dwight inherited from a total doofus we hired before we met Dwight] and Dwight has always made us feel like we were his sole priority

After all of the snow and freezing temps, I figured they would not be able to get it done but there they were right on time as scheduled. Very friendly, professional job. A job well done!

It went well - was fast once it was started! Only complaint was how long we had to wait in line before so many other people to get the job done! Ivan was great and I've already recommended him to others.

Very good. Even though they were very busy, they were able to get it scheduled and done in a reasonable amount of time. Good pricing.

Ivan responded promptly to the invitation to bid. Offered a very good price and built the best-looking fence on the block. There were several things that I really liked. 1) Metrofence had a pretty full line of jobs ahead of me. His time estimate on beginning the job was reasonable and the fence project was started when he said it would be. He kept me informed all along the way. b) They custom-cut the fence boards on site. c) Ivan was very thorough in cleaning up after the job

Fencing FAQ

  1. How much does it cost to install a fence?

Answer: The average cost to install a fence is $2,600. A variety of factors will impact the overall cost of fencing installation, such as the length of the fence, the materials you choose, and local labor costs. Fencing projects using the lowest cost materials and with lower labor costs can cost as little as $1 to $6 per linear foot, while projects using the highest cost materials and with higher labor costs may be as high as $15 to $45.

  2. Do I need a permit to build a fence around a yard?

Answer: Whether you’ll need a permit to build a fence around your yard will depend on your city or county's local codes. Many metropolitan and suburban areas require a permit to install most fencing, but they may not for fences situated behind a house as opposed to in front of it or fences that don’t run within a certain distance of the road. To find out if you’ll need a permit to fence your yard, reach out directly to your local government office.

  3. What is the cheapest fence to install?

Answer: The cheapest fencing to install is chain-link fencing. Chain-link fencing is typically cheaper than other fence types because the materials cost less, and installation is generally quicker and easier than other options. Chain-link fencing is affordable, easy to install, and low maintenance. However, it’s usually considered less secure than other options and doesn’t increase resale value as much as fences made of different materials.

  4. Is a wood or vinyl fence cheaper?

Answer: Wood fences are generally cheaper than the cost of vinyl fences. While the cost of materials for wood and vinyl fences is usually very similar, the labor cost associated with installing a vinyl fence is higher. Wood fencing is also easier to install than vinyl fencing, making it possible to save money by making wood fence installation a DIY project. It’s also possible to DIY install a vinyl fence.

  5. What is the life expectancy of a vinyl fence?

Answer: Vinyl fencing can be expected to last between 10 and 30 years. Vinyl fencing is generally low maintenance, but proper care will ensure it lasts as long as possible. Its long life span and high return on investment make vinyl fencing a popular option for many homeowners.

  6. What type of fence adds to the property value?

Answer: Installing quality fencing, no matter the fence type, will generally add value to your property. In general, fences made of longer-lasting, lower-maintenance, and more attractive materials—like wrought-iron, composite, or vinyl—add more value to a property than fences made of lower-cost or less attractive materials, like chain-link. To ensure your fencing adds as much value to your home as possible, be sure it’s properly permitted, approved by your homeowners association (if you have one), and installed properly.
