Reviews for Installing Decomposed Granite in Dallas

Baldi Gardens Inc
5.0
Initial call back took a few days, but they were very nice. They came out, evaluated the yard and gave us some options. They had scheduled us out for the installation a few weeks out but called when they had an opening so we had the work done almost 2 weeks earlier than anticipated. The yard looks good other than some weed issues (which this yard has always had), but they did came back out and put some poison down for us.

I can't think of a way it could have gone better. Eric was courteous, prompt, and professional. I felt like he was honest and very efficient creating and articulating his plan. He listened to the problems and challenges I laid out and his solution was on point. His employees were a reflection of his work ethic. My wife and I are very much in love with the new yard and I will absolutely be using his services again soon.

Geraldo did most of the stone work. He was fast and laid the stone so that the joints were very tight. The price was reasonable for how much I had done and the quality was excellent. I would definitely use them again.

Ken is a great guy to deal with. He tells you the pros and cons of everything you're considering and offers experienced recommendations. He usually answers his phone and if not, he calls back right away. He's punctual and if he is going to be delayed he calls ahead of time. He is not happy until you are. His employees are polite and they appear to have been with Custom Rain for some time which I always perceive as a good sign. After the first big rain one of the root barriers under the newly installed decomposed granite settled and sank. I phoned Ken and he scheduled a time to repair it. He came on time and instead of simply throwing some more decomposed granite on the depression he pulled back the decomposed granite and weed barrier, added new soil, and then restored the area to pristine. Subsequent rains have proved the job was well done. He provided a warranty on all his work and I'm confident he will honor it should I run into a problem. I would not hesitate to use Custom Rain again.

Excellent job. Mike and his crew (permanent employees, not subs) did a great job with no shortcuts taken. Excellent prep: 6 inch excavation, 4 inches of compacted decomposed granite, 1 inch of cushion sand. Flagstone laid as requested with organic joints (no cut pieces) with decomposed granite to fill the joints. Total job took about 4 days. No mess left behind and courteous/professional the entire time. Willing to work with our particular ideas of what we wanted while guiding us toward the best methods to realize our design. Additional recommendation for the stone yard used for the flagstone: Classic Rock just east of Dallas in Rockwall (http://www.classicrockinc.com/)

Very well, this was their first time constructing a concrete bridge that spanned an existing 5 foot dry stream. They were very detailed in the placing of steel rebar and forming foundation. Worked very hard to stay on schedule while providing A+ project within budget. Cleaned the site when completed project, removed all excess material and trash. Would highly recommend using Ricardo.

Eduardo gave us a bid, and then when a job fell through the next week he called to see if his crew could come to our house instead. We obliged and are pleased with the results. He was able to have his crew create exactly what was in my mind's eye in a single day. The new stonework blends in perfectly with the existing structure and looks like it was always there. The cost was reasonable and a minor repair handled professionally the same day.

Excavated existing soil to a dept of 4 inches and hauled it off. My house is on a corner lot so the work involved two sides. Installed the decomposed granite; capped existing sprinkler stubs and installed a blubber for a pecan tree located on one side of the property. The workman were proficient and worked with professionalism and and keep us informed of the progress at all times. One of the workers has been with Mike Rohe (Company Owner) for 20 years. They cleaned up the area and also took several loads of removed soil to a low spot in the yard. I didn't expect them to spread it out but they did. They finished the project in 2-days. They watered the granite and rolled it so it was smooth. This project was done to finally eliminate trying to adequately water the grass between the sidewalk and street curb. Now i have a nice earth-tone filler that is firm and does not require water. I had replaced the sod at least 3 times in 20 years. One business practice that Mike uses is to provide a quote in spreadsheet form, with all details itemized. I like his use of email to and phone to keep in touch.

Extremely well. Shortly after my initial visit with Bill, he emailed pictures of his ideas on what the patio would look like. I wanted very low-maintenance but could not decide on the right materials for the job that would fit within my budget. After going with Bill's suggestions, work began 2-3 weeks later. The majority of the work was completed in one day (finished the following day) and they crew was great about tidying up afterwards. Bill followed up immediately afterwards to make sure I was happy with the work and I plan on having him come back for some additional landscaping. Would definitely recommend GreenTex Landscaping!

They worked very hard, even though I was using a Groupon deal. They fixed the plumbing/wiring that was damaged during the excavation. The heat slowed down the work and it took a lot longer than I had anticipated. They hauled off the excess dirt for me for free. I liked working along side them and they listened well and did as I instructed them.

Mr. Baldi was able to schedule an visit promptly to give me an estimate.. He discussed my problems with drainage, growing grass and the range of solutions, from easiest & most practical to most costly & extensive. For the relatively small area under consideration, it worked out that easy & practical was best at that time. His crew was able to come out the next week and do the grading, sodding and granite in a few short hours (3 hours?). It looked great; it was neatly done; no muss, no fuss. Since the backyard is in two tiers and most of the work was on the top tier, it was well worth the money for all the trips the crew had to make up and down the steps with the sod and granite.

It was a wonderful experience. They were in and out in a day and a half and were very responsive to our needs. I laid some extra work on him at the last minute and it was done with no issues. The estimate was a good $1000 less than the other companies I looked at. Everything was beautifully done and looked great when all the work was complete. I’d highly recommend this company to anybody.

Rosendo and his team member, Jackson, did an excellent job and our yard looks beautiful. Originally hired to redo the decomposed granite in the hard surface areas, Rosendo offered additional suggestions for improving the garden areas in the lawn which were well received and appreciated. Rosendo and Jackson were on time and very productive. Both men were perfectionists with attention to detail. The end result is a beautiful lawn and we will use this company for future services.

It went very well! They built a stone fire pit set in a decomposed granite sitting area, stone edging and flagstone walkways in the back yard. We liked it so much we expanded the project to a small flagstone sitting area in front shrub bed and stone edging around all of the other shrub beds. The pricing was fair, the work was top notch and on time. We would recommend them.

Raymond was the designer and can really picture what it is going to look like. He took a lot of time going over what I wanted (look at feel), listed to my ideas, and was up front about what would work and what wouldn't. Most companies will just go for the quick sale, give you plants that won't work in your zone, will over plant to give you an instant yard, but not account for the mature size of the plants. Raymond was there to make sure that the work was done correctly. For example, the crew left screws sticking out the other side of my fence when they installed the kickboard and in general left the job site sloppy when they thought they were finished. He made sure it was all taken care of as it should. The sprinkler guy also didn't get some of the heads installed correctly and Raymond took care of that too. He was invaluable as a crew chief as well as a designer. This job would not have gotten done without Raymond and Jerrett (helped oversee the crew on the last day during drainage, corrections, and cleanup). Raymond was also very up accommodating when it came to my budget and worked within it, but didn't cut corners.

Recent Review: I got a quote and used Legacy Landscape & Irrigation. They were here this month. He brought me decomposed granite and spread it out. I think $450. That was landscaping. It was okay, it was very brief over the Internet. I measured the amount. I measured the area that I needed covered and sent it to them. It was all done on e-mail. And they came out and spread it. They were very polite, very nice, put things back where they had been after I asked them. It was basically bring me this, spread this out, they told me when I told them when I walked off the area it was this much by this much, they told me how much I need and how much it costs and then they brought it out a spread it.

Recent Review: I had soil put it to fill the low spot along the front retaining wall. To do this they also have to raise the sprinkler heads. They installed St Augustine grass on the new dirt, planted two trees and put stakes in for support. I was given a detailed instruction page on care for the new landscaping for the first year. All left over debris was hauled away and the front patio and steps were left clean. I also had an area on the east side of the house, between the house and fence which is only about 6 foot, where grass would not grow. Green Meadows suggested decomposed granite be put down to deal with the mud problem. They dug down and put a weed barrier then filled in with the decomposed granite and packed it down. It looks great and after the 1.5 inches of rain this week I can say my problem is solve. No mud and no standing water.I am very pleased with the results.

Recent Review: Ted’s crew was prompt and professional. Ted was there every day to supervise and get the crew started. This was a four day job that included excavation, drainage, drip irrigation, decomposed granite walkways, and plant beds. We also added a small grassy area of artificial turf. Our yard is now weekly maintenance-free. It turned out beautifully, and we plan to contract with his company again for the front yard. Ted has a real eye for the design, which is great if you’re like me and clueless as to design and which plants to use.
