He and his team offered great advice as we worked out design and construction details. Plumbline did the demo then put everything back together. Roger did an impressive job of managing the project, even as COVID-related supply-chain issues presented daily challenges. Plumbline changed the size of both windows, including adding a bay in one opening. They installed new doors and molding throughout. They coordinated installation of new cabinets, counters, floor, and appliances. They built two new closets. They rewired and installed new lighting. While they were at it, they also did a minor bathroom remodel, including installing new tile, sink, and other fixtures. They kept the dust and mess to a minimum, and made sure that the rest of our house remained livable. It truly felt like each and every member of the team was treating our home as they would their own. The best thing about Plumbline? Roger is an absolutely great guy. He responded to our many calls and texts quickly, he kept us updated on schedule changes and delays, and he was never, ever too busy to sit and review plans with us and answer our questions. To help customers through this tough time, they waived the fee to come out and visit and see what the problem was. They were so communicative and sent out a photo of who was going to be coming and who to look out for. "This was not a good experience. While the quote process was good and communication was good, the installers the company used were not prepared to perform the work. The quoting person, Carlton, seems to be the owner and came in and looked over the area and saw the existing drain, which was PVC. But when the installers came they said they only work in ABS pipe and I had to run out to buy fittings for them. They also didn’t have a drain with them and I had to buy a drain, which took two trips because the first one they said they would/could not install. There was a small leak at a teflon taped joint of the shower faucet that I had made before they arrived. I was charged to deal with this, which is fair, but it took longer than it should have for them to deal with it for a couple of reasons. First, to break the connections to the faucet they wanted to cut the PEX and install new fittings, and they did not have the fittings to make connections to the faucet to repair this. Luckily I had a couple. With the right tools they could have cut the clamp itself and not needed fitting (I have used Dremels with a cutting disc for this in the past.). They also didn’t have the right tools to crimp the clamps down on my fittings because they said they don’t work with this type of PEX piping. Again, they had to use mine. I have the feeling that they do fine for jobs where they are doing everything but are not fully equipped to do the work in a remodel when they have to work with what is already in place. Also, one of the installers did not wear a mask while the other two did. During the pandemic, this was unprofessional. I did not confront him about this out of concern that he might not give his best effort if I made a big deal about it and we could end up with a defect. The job took some extra time also because of cracks they found in the Sterling shower surround being installed, which was good for them to detect. Because of the mask issue, I was not charged for the extra time it took to deal with this. The owner took the mask concern very seriously as it violated policy and he asked the subcontractor to wear it, and was appalled that the subcontractor stopped wearing the mask after the owner left the site. The offsetting of the cost was a good gesture, and I appreciated that level of professionalism. The total cost to install the shower base and walls was $845. Overall this is not unreasonable in my mind, but it was a much more involved process than it needed to be, in my opinion. The communication with the owner was good, but the actual individuals doing the work were unprepared for this job which resulted in a lot of additional time and expense for us all.
