    Colleagues who’re not striking should consider contributing the equivalent of 10 days lost pay to this crowdfunder. The aim is to sue managers of for mismanagement & self-enrichment. So at least we’re all contributing to save our pensions (& they should join the strike).

    The UK government could do something privacy-preserving like an IRMA credential, but I bet they won’t.

    The UK gov’t is proposing to assign everyone an individual digital certificate, for which they are the root authority; to enable any kind of mundane everyday transaction to be verified* through 3rd party providers. *tracked, analysed, profiled, monetised

    All this table shows is that offline brute-force resistance and human memorability are incompatible in almost all cases. We need well designed rate limiting mechanisms, preferably combined with multi-factor authentication.

    fam, how do we feel about passwords? I am more of a passphrase kind of guy. Someone made a comment that staying at a complex 8 + MFA and block of common passwords gives you the same protection as forcing 12 chr. Thoughts?

    One step senior academics can take to celebrate is to support colleagues who are taking industrial action to force higher education employers to address the gender gap. Early-career researchers are the worst hit and shouldn’t be left to fix the problems themselves.

    It was probably right to stop the project but despite its problems, I still did like the scorecard. For example it provided a set of accepted criteria by which systems could be assessed. I used it for this purpose in this article
