The Swedish Armed Forces is a body subject to the Swedish Parliament and government. It is headed by the Supreme Commander who leads and supervises the Armed Forces through Armed Forces Headquarters.

The ongoing winter exercise in northern Norway, Cold Response, involves 35 000 participants from 28 countries – on land, at sea and in the air. The Swedish Armed Forces participates with units from the Air Force and the Army, with support from C2 and logistics units; approximately 1 600 Swedish soldiers and officers.

Viking 22 – the world’s largest international computer aided staff exercise

More than 50 nations and 70 civilian organisations are trained in military and civilian cooperation in the computer aided multinational staff exercise Viking 22, which starts on 28 March in the Swedish town of Enköping. The exercise is a training platform to prepare civilians, military personnel and police officers to participate in peace promoting efforts.

More weapons and ammunition as allocations increase

Allocations to the Swedish Armed Forces have increased by two billion Swedish krona in 2022 and the authorisation for military equipment orders is extended by more than 30 billion Swedish krona. This was settled in the deliberations with the parliamentary parties in the Swedish Defence Commission.
