Raleigh Shake Roof Repair

Roof installation went without a hitch. The crew did a beautiful job, including repair of damage that was evident when old roof was removed. Took months to get the gutters installed, apparently because the fellow handling the contract fell ill.

Cole Brothers had replaced a number of other cedar shake roofs in our neighborhood over the last few years. Scott came out and measured the roof and provided a simple estimate. We obtained quotes from several roofers and Cole Brothers was on the cheaper end. Scott and Chad (owners) were very easy to work with. They are very busy so we had to schedule our job about a month out. The crew of 6 arrived on site on a Tuesday around lunch time and got right to work, until close to 7:00pm. The whole crew was back on site at 7:45am Wednesday and worked until at least 6:00pm. Work was finished around lunch time on Thursday afternoon. To any issues or questions that I had during the job, the response was always "we'll make it right"...and they followed through. They cleaned up after themselves each day and when finished thoroughly cleaned each gutter and swept the yard with a nail magnet multiple times to find loose nails. During the project, all debris was loaded into a dump truck which was then moved out of the driveway at the end of each day, allowing us access to our garage. No giant dumpsters stuck in our driveway for a week. For comparison, two neighbors replaced their cedar shakes around the same time using a roofer that was NOT Cole Brothers. One, which had a roof no larger than ours and maybe smaller, began work on a Monday and finished up either Friday or Saturday. The other, who has a smaller roof than ours, took 3-4 days and the homeowners are still stepping on nails in their yard.

They were very pleasant, but courtesy isn't what you're paying for. Unfortunately these guys are average carpenters using average grade materials. They never even suggested using pressure treating wood and I didn't think of it. The FINISHING work is their biggest weakness. The new Shingle roof has a drip edge, but the tiles line up exactly with the end of the drip edge when their should be at least a 1" tile overhang... stupid me... this is exactly what caused the facial plate wood to rot to begin with. They haggled price with me after the fact. GET A CLEAR QUOTE!

Awesome from start to finish. I replaced cedar roof in 2316 brisbayre circle prior to selling in 2016. Baker Roofing went above and beyond to resolve buyer issues in cedar for me to complete the sale of my house. When I purchased my current house, I knew it needed a new roof I only called Baker.

The business owner arrived on time at work site to perform the initial estimate. A thorough inspection was performed and I was told to expect a written estimate within the next 48 hours. The estimate was received back ahead of the promised time along with potential start dates. Pricing was very competitive and the owner was a primary member of the work team for the project. Based on the estimate, flexible start dates and owner's direct involvement I selected Berg roofing over several other prominent local firms. I was not disappointed. The work team arrived per plan on the first day on time and began our tear down. To my delight, the punctuality continued throughout our experience. Our custom home is built on stilts into the side of a hill over a creek - a very challenging environment to work in. Visible progress was made on the first day, and shortly thereafter all of the cedar shakes were removed and placed in a truck. Our worksite was immaculate, despite the tremendous amount of wood, nails and insulation removed. It was so clean, that a neighbor mentioned how much they appreciated the effort. Over the coming few weeks the pace quickened and custom 24 gauge pieces of the roof were placed, along with the associated flashing and rubber materials to ensure the best looking finish possible. At one point, the owner pointed out that additional insulation might make a significant difference in the heating and cooling of one of the attached structures. We checked it out, and with his help made the call to make the adjustment to our plans with a 3rd party - again, we were not disappointed. The benefits have been excellent. He was also clear that the insulation was not totally necessary elsewhere and saved us some money. We expected good quality work and a good price from our estimate. We were not expecting such tremendous expertise and candid, forthright guidance on a variety of associated topics. The level of professionalism and courteousness of the team ranks at or near the top of my all time contractor list, and I felt compelled to share my experience with them. In a business full of missed dates and financial potholes Berg roofing was a real breath of fresh air. I would use them again without hesitation and would absolutely recommend them to friends and family.

They arrived on time and professionally completed the job. They willingly answered questions about future major roofing needs that they do not provide. I would definitely use them again.

Had leak near gutter in kitchen. He found and repaired the problem with the roof, and cleaned out the gutter near the leak as well. Also noticed a couple of other issues (hole in brick) that could have caused other leak and fixed that too. Contractor was prompt and reliable. I have used him for my roof repairs before and would do so again. I appreciate the prompt service.

i called gary jeudy about a month ago and he came out and gave me an estimate for a couple of jobs i needed done.the estimates were very reasonable and he was extremely professional so i decided to use him. 7/19 he showed up on time with his crew and got to work. they demolished the old roofing and found i needed some new wood so gary added that on and did a fine job. they had the whole job done in a couple of hours. they replaced the old soffit, rotting wood, placed new shingles , plywood, roof paper. they painted the soffit to match. it looks great. after it was all done they cleaned up and you would have never known they were there. just waiting for it to rain to test it out. i have have one more job for gary (a rotted out bay window in the breakfast nook) so he will be back. J4 Design and Build (Jeff Maurer, co-owner) was among the low bidders for this project. Price was a factor in our selection of them, but equally important was their communication responsiveness. E-mail responsiveness was excellent, and throughout the project, which lasted about 6 weeks, evening e-mails by us were addressed either by return e-mail or by phone call, or both, by the next morning. Most of the work was done by one subcontractor (Oscar Linares Construction), and the work was of outstanding quality. The electrical work was done by Quick Electric, and that work did not go as well as everything else (required multiple trips for this small job). The only complaint I had about this company was that some work was done before a change order specifying its cost was agreed to and signed. We were able to resolve this issue with the contractor to our mutual satisfaction.

It went find. Owner gave estimate. Estimate accepted. Owners team came in and repaired roof as stated.
