Tom came over on a SUNDAY to review the many things I needed done and the next day I had an email with an estimate, which I agreed to. I told him the bathroom mirrors were the most critical and the rest could wait, should his schedule open up. He called me a day later and said he had some free time to put up the mirrors that afternoon! Tom brought Chris with him and they both worked to measure and put up the mirrors. They were patient with me as I checked to make sure it was exactly the way I wanted it and when I wanted the mirror moved "just a little to the right-ish" they just did it without hesitation. Tom and Chris work well together and you can see how they both want their customer to be happy with their work. I cannot wait for them to come back and do the rest of the work - on their time frame. It's obvious why Tom has so many customers - he takes pride in his work! P.S. The value of the service is $500 for the total job, not just for the mirrors...

Fine Line's service was fantastic. Gerry was friendly and professional, he told us how long the job would take and exactly how much it would cost. He painted each cabinet with one coat of primer and two coats of the paint of our choice. He removed the doors and painted them at his shop. Then, on the last day, he installed the doors with new hinges and drilled holes and installed knobs in the drawers and cabinets. Our cabinets now look like new! They are beautiful and there is not a drop or a smudge anywhere. Gerry was the ultimate professional. I highly recommend his services for anyone who wants cabinets refreshed at much less cost than refacing.

Mr. Handyman of Western Wake County

This job was pretty challenging because it required that a house that had been aesthetically neglected for the past 5-10 years be updated. In addition, time was of the essence because I had to travel in from out of state to oversee the changes/updates. The following was done: All walls, ceilings and internal doors painted Repaired wall crack Hardware added to all cabinets Fixtures updated on 2 bathrooms and kitchen sink Bathroom shower curtain rods, towel bars, etc. installed Ceiling Fans installed Toilet Rebuilds New blinds installed in whole house Various small repairs We were extremely happy with the quality of work done and the professionalism exhibited by the Western Handyman of Western Wake County staff. Bruce (the owner) even checked in regularly with us regarding the job status and to ensure that we were happy with the quality of work. He even came over one night to help paint to when things were looking like they were a little behind schedule. I would highly recommend Mr. Handyman of Western Wake County to ANYONE!!! Bruce and Andi (the office manager) are delightful beyond words. They are professional, responsive, thoughtful and accountable. When we encountered challenges along the way, we were not treated as a nuisance. We were treated as valued customers. Overall, a very positive experience.

It went well. Gary provided the quote, and Richard did the repairs. Whenever I had a question, they were both quick to respond with a helpful and complete answer. Richard cleaned up after himself, and did high quality work. I would hire them again.

Tom was pleasant and professional and the quality of his work was excellent. His prices were extremely reasonable and almost half of what another Handyman service quoted us. He replaced numerous light fixtures, kitchen / bathroom hardware and installed 5 window blinds. We highly recommend him for anyone looking for a handyman, he is a rare find. We will definitely be hiring him in the future.

Suttons Cabinet Shop

We were reluctant to rennovate our kitchen because of the many, many horror stories we heard. I am not exaggerating..... we have NONE mainly due to the direction the people of Sutton's Cabinet Shop was able to give me! The ease of the project and our overall experience was fantastic! The entire atmosphere was always very calm with very little, if any, stress. The finished project is GORGEOUS!

The work was performed over the course of two days separated by approximately three weeks. When Tom had completed the first job, I had him walk through to get another quote and schedule a second day of work as I was pleased with his work. The drywall repair was tackled during the second visit after we had made measurements and Tom purchased the material required. I had saved the drywall for the second floor, but needed new material for the large hole in the first floor ceiling. Tom purchased the drywall and had it installed within just a few hours. You really can't tell where the old and new drywall pieces start and end. One of the drywall pieces had to be installed behind the washer and Tom handled moving this appliance (and the dryer next to it) on his own. Tom quickly installed all the kitchen cabinet hardware and moved on to the next item before I knew it!. The hardware is well placed and consistent from door to door - and there are a lot of doors. I've had no issues with the handles since installation. The adjustment to the interior doors should have been done years ago, but I was afraid adjustments were going to be very expensive and probably require repainting when complete. I would have been happy to repaint if the doors were hung correctly, but Tom was really good at working with the doors and fixing each of them for a secure latch without even requiring painting. Perfect! Finally, I had a two shelves installed in the washer/dryer. To be honest, though you can't see these shelves with the doors closed, this may have been my favorite home improvement project. The additional storage in a townhome is such a plus. Although I had the wire shelving, I did not have the brackets to go with them. Not a problem for Tom...he promptly returned with the parts required and had the shelves up very quickly. The $60 charge was a bargain! Just one additional note...I had my mother visiting during the second day of work when the drywall on the ceiling was installed. If you've installed drywall or repaired something similar, you know that once the sanding begins the dirt goes everyone. My mother harassed Tom to no end about how her daugher's 'spotless' home was not so spotless. Tom was a good sport and remained pleasant towards both the project and my mother to which I am very grateful! I would definitely work with Tom again as the price and his prompt and courteous work was appreciated.

JHR Custom Cabinets

We were having a lot of difficulty finding someone to replace our kitchen and powder room cabinet doors and drawers, and paint the existing cabinet boxes. Most folks we talked to either said they couldn’t do the work, or wanted to do a whole refacing job at a price we just couldn’t afford. Through Angie’s List, we found JHR and were impressed with the reviews, so contacted them. They were in touch within a day or two, and a meeting was set up during the next week. They looked at the scope of the job, made recommendations as to the best approach, and took measurements. They started working on the doors and drawers right away at the shop, and while this was going on, sanded and sprayed the cabinet boxes. They use lacquer for all their cabinet work, and I have to say that it looks fabulous! They took meticulous care to sheet everything, I mean everything, off, including the ceiling, windows and, basically, anything that wasn’t being sprayed. This part of the work was done in one day. A couple of days later, they installed the doors and new drawers, along with the new cabinet hardware that we had ordered online. In addition, they removed our old stove vent, which turned out to be a much more complicated process than they had anticipated, because the original construction didn’t even send the vent air outside! So, they rerouted everything the way it was supposed to be, and didn’t charge additional for that—which was very much appreciated. They then installed the new stove vent which we had also purchased online. We had left a new light (in a box) for over the kitchen sink in the room, and although it was not part of the job, they removed the old fluorescent light and installed the new one, again at no additional charge. I have done stripping, painting, staining, refinishing work myself, so am very particular about finished products. There were a few minor things that required three short trips to the house to fix, and all were fixed to our satisfaction within a few days of our notifying JHR. They were very accommodating and easy to work with on these issues. We are extremely pleased with the way our “new” cabinets look! They also fixed a wood gate in our yard that was sticking—not a written part of the job or estimate, but fixed nicely nonetheless! Jorbick and Jose were very easy to communicate with, and very helpful and pleasant. They said they don't want to be a one-job company for their customers--they do quality work so that their customers will be repeat customers—and we can assure you that we will call upon them again for any similar (or smaller) homeowner jobs we need done. (Once we paint the kitchen, we will submit before-and-after photos.)
